Report on Lysine Side Effects and Usage

Lysine

Natural health supplements sometimes have unexpected side effects or interactions with medication that can lead to adverse reactions that are sometimes life threatening. The following is a list of cautions that you should be aware of before using Lysine. These are referred to as drug/herb interactions.

Warning 1 – Anticoagulants: Large amounts of Lysine causes increased aminoglycoside toxicity. The combination of lysine and an aminoglycoside has produced substantially greater renal failure. When the two are combined, toxicity is additive. Experts recommend avoiding concurrent use.

Examples of animoglycosides include amikacin, gentamicin, kanamycin, netilmicin, neomycin streptomycin, and tobramycin.
