Subj: Mintop/Finpecia?
Date: 5/18/2008
I have been using Mintop 10% and Finpecia. I also suffer from acne, oily skin. I have been on acne treatment with addition to my hair treatment as well. But since I had stopped my acne treatment and continued with the hair treatment using Mintop 10% and Finpecia I have noticed sudden spurt in my acne with pus. Is this due to use of Mintop/Finpecia? Is suitable for using Mintop/Finpecia in such conditions.
Vinay
AskDocWeb: Although not listed as a “known” side effect, some users have reported acne, blackheads on forehead, and increased skin oil across face. Two report suffering from acne 6 months after stopping their Propecia intake. One reported that acne was still present after 3 years.
Subj: Is it true?
Date: 6/8/2008
Is it true that regain can affect and stop you from having children and stops all reproduction?
Shelim
AskDocWeb: Not if you use it as directed.

Subj: Difference in erections
Date: 6/27/2008
I have been using minidoxil for the 2nd month and I can really feel the differences in my erections. It has come down drastically. I am wondering why it is not published anywhere. All I would want to know is that by discontinuing mintop, will I be able to get back my original erection.
Jagan
AskDocWeb: According to the Mayo Clinic that is a symptom of overdose where too much is being absorbed through the skin. There is no evidence that the condition is permanent so you should recover.
Subj: Itchy, flaky scalp
Date: 6/29/2008
Hi, I’ve been using 5% minoxidil for 6 months, once a day in the morning. For the last 3 weeks I’ve had an itchy, flaky scalp, could this be the minoxidil? Why has it only shown up after 5 months use?
Brent
AskDocWeb: It might be due to changes in your diet, seasonal changes in your skin or just a build up of intolerance for the drug over time.

Subj: Thin hair
Date: 7/8/2008
Hi Sir, My name is kusum, I’m 18 years old.. staying in India (Hyderabad). My problem is that from the last 3 yr. my hairs are falling it has become very thin now before it was too good very thick but now I have lost some hair. I use to apply coconut oil twice a week to my hair but still I lose lots of hair. Is there any way how I can regain back my hair and reduce further hair loss? One of my friends told me to use Mintop 2% it will stop the hair fall and helps in regaining the hair. Can I use 2% or 5% mintop oil or is there any home remedies Kindly suggest me a remedy please sir. Thanking You,
Kusum
AskDocWeb: As far as we know the active ingredient in Mintop is minoxidil and we suggest you read about the warnings and limitations before trying it. For home remedies you can make your own herbal shampoo here.
Subj: Hair growing on my face
Date: 7/8/2008
I am a 42 female that is trying to get my very thin hair line to grow. I notice by using this product I have hair growing on my face. I want to wax it off. What should I do?
Tracie
AskDocWeb: Unless you have extra-sensitive skin you should be able to wax without any problems. Make sure you avoid getting the product on places where you don’t want hair to grow.
Subj: Almost bald
Date: 7/15/2008
I am 63 and almost bald on top and side and back are thinning also the side effects are scaring me. Are they common or just in a few? I am losing weight slowly and how common is weight gain? I am 70 pounds over weight and sure don’t want to put more on. I have male pattern baldness and it has been progressing for 20 years.
Lela
AskDocWeb: The most common problem with Minoxidil is scalp flaking and irritation. The other side effects only happen to a small percentage of people who use it. If rapid weight gain does occur it should be reported to your doctor as soon as possible as this may indicate a serious problem.

AskDocWeb: No problems have been reported with using a Laser comb with minoxidil. As for the front hairline, a few have reported success in that area but not enough to recommend it for that.

Subj: Shedding and hair becoming thinner
Date: 7/19/2008
Hello, I am 22 I used Aminexil SP94 from vichy products twice a day and after 3 months I found good results in frontal hair (hair line) but the worst on the crew. I noticed very shedding and the hair become thinner its like shedding phase. Do you advice me to stop or move to minoxel or Nisim products since I used them before 1 year.
Mohannad
AskDocWeb: If you don’t like the results you are getting then yes, try something else.
Subj: Unusual side effects
Date: 7/27/2008
I was using minoxidil for 3 months and stopped before 3 months as I got some unusual side effects…I just need to know how long it will take to recover from the side effects of minoxidil completely.
Rasuajgu
AskDocWeb: That depends on which side effects and if you were using too much or not. We would guess a few months at the most.

Subj: Hair falling out in chunks
Date: 7/30/2008
I took Mesotherapy treatment for hair, which uses Minoxidil 2% in it. After the 3rd month of discontinued use, suddenly my hair started falling out in chunks. Is this due to stress or minoxidil?? (I underwent severe stress too the same time). Will my hair grow back?
Reema
AskDocWeb: It is common to loose more hair than usual in the months following discontinuing Minoxidil but that hair loss is typically from the whole scalp, not just patches. That hair loss does not grow back. On the other hand, the hair you loose due to stress will grow back once the stressful situation is resolved.
Subj: Blood pressure?
Date: 8/1/2008
If a person has hypertension, will minoxidil/Rogaine raise the blood pressure after a weeks worth of treatment twice a day? My age is 86 and I started having hair loss quickly. My hair was thick and course in texture always. Thank You
Margaret
AskDocWeb: No, Minoxidil is a vasodilator which means that it lowers blood pressure.
Subj: Successful cases
Date: 8/3/2008
Hi, I have been using Regain 5% which is supposed to be the same product but the one sold in Europe and the middle east for about 10 months. I can say I am one of the really successful cases as many of my friends started noticing the difference only after two months from the date I starting using the medicine, I do not even apply it regularly but its definitely working now. I started loosing hair when at the age of 22 and it was the peak at the age of 24 and more than two thirds of the total volume of my hair was lost, I even counted the average number of hairs I lost in one week by roughly counting the number of hairs that fall off while I shampood my hair and the number was about 90+ hairs a day!!! but within 6 weeks the number started to fall and its less than one fifth of that now. I had akne in my scalp before I started using it and within one month that started to go away, and my scalp started itching for about two to three weeks and then the change was dramatically positive and the itching stopped. I think my sexual desire is reduced now, how can I make sure of that? And if that was true, is this reversible? and if I reduce the dosage can I come to a point in between where I have a normal sexual desire and a head full of hair, I mean I certainly do not wish to choose one…
Sayf
AskDocWeb: If your sexual desire is reduced because of an overdose then it is reversible and should return when the dosage is reduced.
Subj: Mintop lotion
Date: 8/5/2008
I been using Mintop lotion for more than six months and been very fed up with this hair loss. My question is do I have to do a test trial for an another six month span or go for programs like hair fixing. etc.. I also use fincar tablets twice in a week.
Harish
AskDocWeb: It’s our opinion that if you have used a hair loss product for six months without results then you should try something else. Read more feedback about Minoxidil.
