AskDocWeb: The product information for topical Minoxidil says that it should not be used by nursing women. The FDA puts minoxidil in pregnancy category C. Animal studies using oral minoxidil have failed to reveal evidence of teratogenicity, but reduced conception rates and an increased incidence of fetal absorption have been observed in rabbits given 5 times the usual human oral dose.
Subj: Crown area
Date: 8/24/2010
From India, I just started using Mintop10%, before that i was usuing neutridem anti hair loss lotion for 3 month, hair loss stopped but no regrowth. My hair is thinned on the crown area. Will mintop 10%(minoxdil) will work for me?
Arul
AskDocWeb: There is a good chance that Mintop will help. The crown area is where minoxidil has had the most success in regrowing hair.
Subj: Neutriderm?

Subj: Increased hair fall
Date: 8/26/2010
I am experiencing increased hair fall over the past two weeks. My scalp has a bit of dandruff and is itchy. My friend has advised me to use Minotop forte. Please help.
Mojorisin
AskDocWeb: It is not clear if your dandruff and itchy scalp are the result of using Mintop or if you had them before using the product. Both of those symptoms are common side effects of products containing minoxidil, which is the active ingredient in Mintop.
Subj: Concerned about libido
Date: 8/28/2010
Hi…am 24 male..I’ve been most of the feedback by the users of minoxidil. Actually I started using minoxidil for about 15 days. I’ve read some of the article about its side effect and i really wanna know Is this true it can cause low libido? Am really concern about this and thinking of discontinuing it…please suggest!
Kenny
AskDocWeb: Yes, according to the Mayo Clinic, if you absorb too much through the skin, an overdose can affect the libido. As long as you follow the instructions, that is not likely to happen.
Subj: Minoxidil 5%
Date: 8/31/2010
Hey! This is me Abhishek from Chandigarh 22yrs old….m using minoxidil 5% once a day…I am not able to use twice a day….will it be work once a day?
Abhishek
AskDocWeb: Using the minoxidil only once a day is half as much as the instructions say to use. There are no reports from those using it only once a day but we would expect it to half as effective. Not sure if that is worth the effort but let us know.
Subj: I didn’t know

Hi.. My name is omair & i am 20. My hair loss occoured due to my genetics. I used it 3 years ago, the results were great, my hair grew back in 3-4 months, but i didn’t know that my hair will fall off if i discontinue the usage, & sadly they fell off when i did so. Now after trying different things in vain, I have decided to use the spray again, lets hope it works once again, i had no side effects the last time i used it.

Subj: Mintop without side effects?
Date: 9/5/2010
Can the mintop solution be used without side effects? i had used it around 14 yrs bk with good results and then discontinued. now my hair loss is too much.
Nivedita
AskDocWeb: Many people have no side effects while using Mintop. However, the stronger the solution, the more likely you are to experience side effects. In the USA women are limited to the 2% strength because anything stronger has been reported to cause the growth of unwanted facial hair and body hair.
Subj: High B.P.
Date: 9/6/2010
I am suffering from High B.P. can I use Minoxidil 5?
Srikanth
AskDocWeb: Minoxidil in pill form was originally used to treat high blood pressure so patients taking medication to control blood pressure should consult with their doctor before using minoxidil.
Subj: Change of water?
Date: 9/6/2010

How much I continue this treatment please suggest me what to do? Thanks you.

AskDocWeb: Remember that hair grows very slowly. It may take up to 6 months before you see results so you have to have patience. We have read the rumor that a change in water might cause hair loss but have yet to see any research that supports that claim.

Date: 9/10/2010
I am 25 yr old female, I loose my hair from middle parting line & on top, I start using mintop 2% & finpecia, is it effective to regrow my hair, is its result is permanent? Kindly help me please.

AskDocWeb: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the results last only a few months after these products are discontinued. They are treatments but they are not cures.

Subj: Minoxidil stopped working
Date: 9/11/2010
I have been using 5% minoxidil for the last 9 months and have been observing sound results. Along with this my therapy plan consisted of either taking fenugreek or saw plametto tablets and using a good DHT blocking shampoo such as nanogen nanoguardB. For a while it was so good that I wasn’t even loosing 5 hairs even when I was in the shower with the shampoo foam. But just one month ago suddenly I started to shed hair excessively, so much so that many would be found on my pillow every morning and with my shampoo foam when showering. This is still happening.
I have lost thin strands (newly minoxidil induced) and many thick dark hairs that I have had previously. I kept on using minoxidil and added finasteride with my regiment for the last 2 weeks. Still haven’t seen much regression of loss. Is my hair going through a telogen resting phase? is it temporary? Will my hair grow back? I have had a blood test done and all is well. Or am I becoming resistant to minoxidil? What could u advice me?
Evan
AskDocWeb: Each of your hair follicles has its own cycle independent from the other hair follicles and it is highly unlikely that they would all be going through a telogen resting phase at the same time. If the minoxidil has stopped working then there isn’t much you can do about that short-term. Adding finasteride may help but that is likely to take a few months before you see results.
Please note that there are health concerns with the use of fenugreek.
Subj: Unwanted hair growth
Date: 9/11/2010
Hi I am 29…I have been using minoxidil 2% for last 1 and a half month…suddenly now I am noticing my upper lip hair is growing so fast like within 12 days its regrowing where my beautician is saying its abnormal…I am really anxious…and really want to know that what should I do? Should I discontinue this product?
Arpita
AskDocWeb: Unfortunately unwanted hair growth is one of the possible side effects of minoxidil. You will have to decide if this is something you can live with or not.
Subj: What precautions
Date: 9/11/2010
I am 22 year male. I start the use of mintop 2% oil. What precaution take place?
Nitin
AskDocWeb: It is a good idea to read the entire product insert so that you have the most up to date information regarding precautions. Doing that will also insure that you are correctly following the instructions for applying the product.
Subj: Losing a lot of hair
Date: 9/13/2010
Hi, I am 30 year old man. I have used Minoxidil 5% for about 20 days. but its not working and loss lot of hair. Please help.
Damisetty
AskDocWeb: If you read the package insert you will see that there is a possibility of going through a period of increased hair loss when first starting Minoxidil. It may take several months to see results, for some it takes 4 to 5 months.
Subj: Dizzy spells and blurred vision
Date: 9/15/2010
Hi there, I started using Minoxidil about 5 months ago and since have been experiencing dizzy spells coupled with blurred vision and “confused” (not loss) hearing. I am 42 yrs old and my hair is thinning rapidly however I have not seen any visible changes in hair growth. I am considering discontinuing the use of Minoxidil as I feel this may be the cause of my dizziness and other symptons. Thanks and regards,
William
