Subj: Increased hair loss
Date: 11/16/2010
Hi, I have been using Minoxidil for two days and I’ve noticed increased hair loss. After using it I’m loosing hair like never before. Should try it more or I should discontinue it?
Rakibul
AskDocWeb: Increased hair loss is one of the possible side effects of Minoxidil that may occur when the product is first used. From what we have read, the increased hair loss typically does not last longer than two weeks with or without continued use.
Subj: SVT
Date: 11/16/2010
Question. I have SVT on occation, can I use Minoxadil?
JEAN
AskDocWeb: We didn’t find any drug interactions between Minoxidil and the drugs used to treat SVT (Adenosine, diltiazem, verapamil, metoprolol, sotalol, and amiodarone) but it would be wise to check with your doctor first, especially if you are under a doctor’s care or taking any prescription drugs. SVT or supraventricular tachycardia is any tachycardic rhythm originating above the ventricular tissue. In general it is an irregular heartbeat.
Subj: Mintop 10 and Foligrow Caps
Date: 11/16/2010
Sir, I met a dermatologist for my hair loss. He suggest me to use of Mintop 10 and Foligrow Caps. My problem is my hairs are not growing in front portion of my head. There is no problem of hair fall. I am 39 yrs old male. Can get my hair back and how long I should use these medicine? Please suggest me…. ThanQ…
Siddu
AskDocWeb: So far we have heard more negative than positive things about Folligro so we don’t recommend that. The Mintop 10% is likely to grow hair but it may also increase the growth of facial hair and body hair. In the USA 2% minoxidil products are recommended for women and 5% minoxidil is recommended for men.
Subj: Female hair loss
Date: 11/16/2010
I have been on Accutaine for 6 months, Accutaine has caused some hair loss. Anyhow, I have stoped Accutaine 10 days ago and my doctor has recommended me using Minixodil 5%. I am a female and I am scared of using 5% so what do you recommend? I would like to also enquire if I would benefit from Menoxidil? Thank you
Amal

Subj: Hereditary baldness?
Date: 11/20/2010
my father is bald… my hair is not densed and am 22 years of age, is there any treatment for recovering hereditary baldness?
King
AskDocWeb: Yes, there are treatments for hereditary baldness but there is no cure yet. However, genetic research does seem to be getting closer. Investigators from Columbia, Rockefeller and Stanford Universities in the US are looking at a hormonal gene called APCDD1, which causes hair follicles to shrink, leading to thinner hair. Scientists at the National Institute of Genetics in Tokyo are also working on how another gene, the Sox21, can function to aid hair retention. Hopefully their research will lead to discovering a cure for hereditary baldness.
The most commonly used treatments are Propecia (prescription drug) and Minoxidil (topical). There is also a special shampoo called Nisim New Hair Biofactors.

Subj: Rogaine helpful for sparse eyebrows
Date: 11/24/2010
I found Rogaine helpful for my sparse eyebrows (I was careful NOT to get it in my eyes!) However, I was diagnosed with Estrogen negative breast cancer after using Rogaine for about 5 yrs (on brows only, in tiny amounts.) Is it safe to resume Rogaine on my eyebrows, now that I am finished with cancer treatment? My oncologist isn’t really sure… Thanks.
Mimi
AskDocWeb: While Rogaine (minoxidil) looks promising for use in cancer survivors, because of the lack of substantiated scientific research, it has not yet been proven for this specific problem. More research is needed to understand whether minoxidil is effective in regrowing any hair after cancer treatment, eyebrows or scalp.
Subj: Can I get my hair back?
Date: 11/27/2010
Hi, I lose too much hair. My half head has hair. I want to know if I use this product regularly then can I get my hair back in my head fully?
Amit
AskDocWeb: You might regain some hair but don’t expect minoxidil to regrow it fully. No one has reported dense hair growth with this product.
Subj: Propecia and minoxidil
Date: 12/3/2010
I have been on 10% minoxidil for the past two months along with propecia 1 mg….Would a 1 ml dose per month be suffice or should I use it twice a day or do you reckon that this would be far too strong?….No side effects other than some hair growing near the eyebrows experienced so far.
Lionel
AskDocWeb: The doctor who prescribes the Propecia will give you the instructions for taking it. Typically this is one 1 mg pill per day. The instructions for minoxidil say to apply it twice a day.
Subj: Epivite

Subj: Washing hair?
Date: 12/5/2010
Do I have to wash my hair every day when using rogaine?
James
AskDocWeb: It is not necessary to wash the hair every day unless it is very oily or greasy. The important point with regard to hair washing is not to wash the hair after applying Rogaine.
Subj: No results
Date: 12/6/2010

Subj: Minoxidil affect sexual desire?
Date: 12/7/2010
I am 28 years old male, past 2 months I have been using the Minoxidil 5%. one of my friend told if you use this hair oil, definitely it will affect your sexual desire. What is your suggestion about this Sir?
Veeramani
AskDocWeb: The only affect of Minoxidil on sexual desire (that we know of) occurs because of an overdose, which means that too much is absorbed through the skin. This is a rare but real possibility. If you follow the directions for use then that is not likely to be a problem. Using more than directed or more frequently does not produce better results. According to the Mayo Clinic, if too much Minoxidil is absorbed through the skin it may lead to a decrease in sexual ability or desire.
Subj: Minokem 2%
Date: 12/9/2010
HI, I am using Minokem 2%. Is there any side effects we can face? I am using this based on my friend suggestion. Is it helpful to me to get my hair back.
Santhi
AskDocWeb: Minokem is a combination of minoxidil, azelaic acid, and tretinoin. You may start seeing benefits after a couple of months of application. It is more likely to help more in preventing further loss than it is to regrow the lost hair back. The side effects of Minokem are contact dermatitis, headache, local burning, pruritus, flushing, and changes in hair colour or texture. Read more feedback about Minoxidil.
