Subj: 12.5% minoxidil
Date: 1/22/2007
Hi there! I was wondering if minoxidil can make existing hair thicker? Has anyone tried 12.5% minoxidil with AA? Also has anyone tried nourkin man? They are on the boots marketing scheme!?
Abb
AskDocWeb: The 12.5% solution is being tested in England but it is not a medical study, it seem to be a commercial test to see if 12.5% will sell well — beware. The higher the dosage the more chance of side effects.
Subj: Where to buy minoxidil?
Date: 2/4/2007
Where can I buy 12.5% minoxidil at a reasonable price please?
Yvonne
AskDocWeb: We recommend that people stay away from the 12.5% minoxidil because of the high chance of side effects.
Subj: Minoxidil 2% solution
Date: 2/5/2007
I have been using Minoxidil 2% solution 2 times a day for 3 months. I do not see much change. What is the probability that it will work? Does this only help in stopping further loss of hair or re generates the growth also? What are the chances?
Asha
AskDocWeb: The 2% Minoxidil has been shown to stimulate hair growth in about 30% of male patients. That means 3 out of 10 men have hair growth but it doesn’t last beyond 48 weeks.

Subj: Hair fall
Date: 2/12/2007
Hi, I have been using the product for the past 3 weeks. As of now my hair fall is arrested I feel but I have some question too. I am loosing my hair for the past 3 years, started at the age of 21 now I am 25 years old. I lost almost half of my hairs in the forehead and also in the backside. I just want to know whether this product will give solution to my problem. Will I get my hairs back if I use this continuously?
Aravind
AskDocWeb: You might get some back for a while but the regrowth is not likely to last more than 48 weeks.
Subj: Minoxidil and breast feeding
Date: 2/13/2007
I am using Mintop solution for my hair. I am breast feeding my 1.5-year baby . Whether it is harmful for baby. Kindly reply me immediately.
Ruchi
AskDocWeb: The manufacturer doesn’t provide enough information to give you a safe answer so we recommend against using it.
Subj: Shedding
Date: 2/20/2007
I’m a 30yr old make and noticed that I was losing hair early last year. Although my father has a full head of hair, my uncles on my mothers side are thin and receeded on top. I started using minoxidil 5% in August and by Dec06 noticed a considerable thickening on top but the last 2 weeks I have seemed to be shedding many hairs into the sink whilst styling in the morning. Is this usual whilst using minoxidil? Should I stop applying it?
GC
AskDocWeb: This is a common problem with Minoxidil, the regrowth doesn’t last beyond 48 weeks as most people seem to build up an immunity to this drug.
Subj: RegenePlex
Date: 2/22/2007
I was considering using Minoxidil 5% but was concerned about the side effects. I was interested in RegenePlex as they are natural but noticed you had them blacklisted. Was it simply because they share the same web listing (effectively) as HairGenesis? Many companies do this as a marketing ploy, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that their product doesn’t work. I like the unbiased evaluations on your site so am just curious how you came out determining they were a scam before I buy their product. Does their product not work? I really look forward to hearing from you. Thanks,
Will
AskDocWeb: We are still waiting to hear for anyone that has had success with their product. Remember that the FDA neither approves nor disapproves of the effectiveness of any supplement for any purpose.
Subj: African American woman
Date: 2/23/2007
Will minoxidil 2% help hair grow in African American woman hair is thinning around forehead and sides on my second bottle. Also does it make you gain weight?
Cheryl
AskDocWeb: It does not make you gain weight but it will help you keep the hair you have. Remember to avoid pulling your hair back tight, this can cause hair loss in front.
Subj: Sidestepped the guys question?
Date: 3/7/2007
You don’t give any advice. You day the same things everyone with half a brain already knows. And you completely sidestepped the guys question about why doesn’t minoxidil work on the front of the head.
Bebop
AskDocWeb: Sorry Bebop, medical science does not know why minoxidil doesn’t work on the front of the head. No one knows because medical research has not produced an answer yet.
Subj: Minoxidil weight gain
Date: 3/11/2007
I have been using minoxidil and I am experiencing weight gain and my hands were so swollen this morning that I couldn’t get my wedding ring off, and usually it is so loose I worry about losing it. I weigh approx. 111 pounds and that is what I weighed last week and this week I weigh 118 pounds. Why does this happen? Thank you,
Gina
AskDocWeb: That is called an adverse reaction. You are supposed to discontinue use when unexpected weight gain occurs.
Subj: Back pain
Date: 4/10/2007
I have used rogain and propecia together for about a year now with good results, both in the vertex and front of my head. Around the same time I have been experiencing back pain, and a ruptured disc in my lower back. Is there any evidence to show a correlation between the hairloss drugs and back problems?
Will
AskDocWeb: There is no connection that we have discovered.
Subj: Minoxidil and Finax
Date: 4/17/2007
I have been using Minoxidil 5% solution 2 times a day and one tablet of finax 1mg for 6 months. It helped me lot. Recently I got married and we are planning to have a child. Should I stop using the medicine(Minoxidil as well as finax).
Dinesh
AskDocWeb: That’s a question you need to discuss with your doctor, the answer is not the same for everyone.
Subj: Was just wondering
Date: 5/1/2007
Is the 4 month period that you’re expected to wait for the minoxidil to start working the time it takes for the minoxidil to stimulate hair follicles to start growing, and after the 4 months they’ll begin to sprout… Or is this just the average time it takes for hair to grow into a noticeable length and the minoxidil starts to stimulate hair follicles straight away? Did that make sense? Hope it does. Cheers!
Steve
AskDocWeb: Near as we can tell, that’s the average time to see results.
Subj: Planning to have a child
Date: 5/10/2007
Hi, I am 28 years old male. I have been applying mintop 5% since 8 months. Last month I got married and we are planning to have a child. Should I stop applying mintop 5% before trying for child. I am scared of its side effects. I am eagerly waiting for your reply.
Dinesh
AskDocWeb: Relax, there is no need to stop Mintop to have a child.
Subj: Minoxidil with finasteride?
Date: 5/14/2007
I am 25 years old male. I am using 2% minoxidil from two weeks and I have 5cm baldness from front hairline. Shedding phase not started. Will it be useful for me? Is it worthwhile to take finasteride along with minoxidil? After how much time I can increase the concentration?
Hardik
AskDocWeb: Yes, you are likely to get better results (with hair growth) by using Minoxidil with finasteride.
Subj: Hair line is slowly receding
Date: 5/22/2007
I am 26 years old and the last 2 years I have noticed that my hair line is slowly receding. Baldness runs in my family and most men in my family show great signs of baldness by around 45 or so. This is something I am trying to avoid. I have just started taking Provillus that comes with a minoxidil topical solution. Would a product like this work for me or am I wasting money? What product would have the best chance of working for me? Thank you,
Robert
AskDocWeb: All you can do is try it and be patient. Be sure to find out what others have experienced before you start any hair loss product, just don’t jump into it and get surprised by side effects. Read more feedback about Minoxidil.
