AskDocWeb: Sexual side effects occur only if you are using too much or too much is absorbed through your scalp. We have read about a reduction in the desire for sex from overdose but not impotence.
Minoxidil and oiled hair
Date: 3/4/2013
Hi, Can I Apply Minoxidil 5% solution on my oiled hair on daily basis, I usually apply oil on my head every alternate day & wash my Hair two times in a week? Will the Minoxidil 5% solution works effective in this situation?
Mukul
AskDocWeb: The instructions for applying minoxidil state that it should be applied to a dry scalp. Using oil with this product may decrease effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects. Please talk to your dermatologist about your unique condition for a treatment that would work best for you.
After stopping minoxidil
Date: 3/7/2013
I used minoxidil for 4 months. I stopped using it because of the dangers of the side effects it caused. Since I used it for 4 months, will it cause permanent hair loss in the areas I applied them to?
Dan
AskDocWeb: As we understand it, after stopping minoxidil you lose only the hair that you would have lost if you had never used the product plus your normal hair loss. Minoxidil is not known to have any permanent effect.
Side effects and vitamin tablets
Date: 3/7/2013
My concern is what if I only apply minoxidil during night and sleep and wash it off in the morning will it have any side effect and my my friend told me we need to take few vitamin tablets or so but he does not know the name that help in faster hair growth is this true and if yes what’s the name of the tablet. And how quick the results show up and does hair fall stop and regrowth happens if minoxidil is used.
Concern
AskDocWeb: Side effects are always a possibility when using a drug. Since stress is a known cause of hair loss, taking the vitamins your body uses to cope with stress may help. That’s a B complex multivitamin along with vitamin C. Make sure your B complex includes Biotin, which is often thought of as the “hair growth vitamin.”

im just 19yrs , i have vry thin hair that my scalp can be visible . Should i consult a dermatologst & strt using it?
Ss9
AskDocWeb: If your parents and grandparents didn’t have thin hair at an early age then you may want to consult with a dermatologist because there may be a medical condition that might require treatment. The dermatologist can advise you of the best treatment for your scalp condition.
MX5
Date: 3/13/2013
Sir, I have been using mx5 for almost three years…now my question is, is it harmful to kidney? Is there any cause to fear?
Taslim
AskDocWeb: MX5 appears to be a low alcohol formula of minoxidil. Although this drug may cause problems for someone that already has kidney disease there are no reports of it causing kidney problems.
Shedding
Date: 3/15/2013
Sir, I used minoxidil 5 % for an year …it showed a good result at first…but later it has been not showing any better result & I stopped that product for about three months. Now I started to use Minoxidil 7.5%. Now all my hairs that i gained from using minoxidil 5% are shedding.. I am using minoxidil 7.5 % for a month now..I can see many small hair spourting fom my sclap…Will I be able to regain all those hair that has been shed by using minoxidil 7.5% ?
Sooraj
AskDocWeb: Since the 7.5% strength of minoxidil is not sold here in the U.S.A. we do not have data on its effectiveness. However, we would expect that it grow more hair as well as have a higher risk of side effects.

A tickle in my throat

I started using Kirkland 5% minoxodil about a week ago. And through the night I’ve developed a cough. and A tickle in my throat. I’ve read the warnings and it mentioned a cough as a side effect. Is this normal? Should I discontinue using the product? as far as i can tell I haven’t had any other side effect except dry scalp. Has anyone experienced this cough?

Continue or stop Mintop 5%?
Date: 3/24/2013
Hi…i am using mintop 5% solution my hair fall has been stopped. my question is i need to continue the solution or i can stop using it. Plz help me.
Mintop 5%
AskDocWeb: The freedom of choice is yours along with the consequences of your choice. If you continue using it you have the ongoing cost of the product along with the time and effort involved with applying it twice a day. If you discontinue using it you are likely to experience an increase in the rate of hair loss (shedding) that lasts for a few months until you have lost all the benefits of using the product. When the scalp is no longer stimulated to grow additional hair, that additional hair will fall out as the growth rate of your hair and the rate of hair loss returns to normal. In order to keep the benefits of additional hair you have to continue using the product. Once you stop using it you lose the benefits.
Foam Vs. lotion
Date: 3/24/2013
Hi…I lost much hair as i had scalp psoriasis problem. So i took doctor’s advice then he suggested Minoxidil 5% Foam. My mother faced hair loss problem as she faced typoid fever so doctor Minoxidil 5% lotion for my mother at the same time. What is difference between these two products. Why he suggested Foam for me and lotion for my mother…
Suman
AskDocWeb: You would have to ask your doctor for his or her specific reason for choosing one over the other. The foam is easier to apply and not as greasy as the traditional minoxidil lotion. Also many people find the foam less irritating.
