My Grandmother is 88 and gets prescriptions from her doctor and I have heard of several pharmacies reading a prescription wrong and giving wrong dose on bottle, I want to be able to understand TID AND BID and take 1 or 2 BID OR TID. is there any literature you can send. Thank You.

AskDocWeb We can do a little better than that. There is an online source for finding out what
those criptic abreviations are all about. You can look them up on Globalrph.com

TID means Three times daily

BID means twice a day

Simply speaking, a great site. Wish I knew how to thank you. I assume that patronizing your
sponsors is the appropriate way?

AskDocWeb: Thanks Greg. There are three ways you could thank us:

1. Tell others about this site.

2. Tell those who have thinning hair about our Procerin Study.

3. Place a link to us on another (or your) website so others can find us.

What causes the body to starve while taking dieting pills?

AskDocWeb: In general, diet pills raise your metabolism (so you use more energy and require more food) while suppressing your appetite. Some also block your body’s ability to absorb fat.

Side effects of xanaxs
Date: 5/16/2004
Has anyone reported lack of focus and ability to concentrate as one of the side effects of xanax? I have been taking it for about 8 years now or longer. I only take it at night to help me sleep. My doctor prescribed it for anxiety/ depression, one table 3 times a day, .25mg. I took that dosage for years, and not every night. Sometimes I would be able to go without taking it for several nights. I only have been taking it at night. I finally had to up the dose to two totaling .5 mg. and I usually have to take it on a regular basis now. Sometimes I even have to break another pill in half and take it to get to sleep. My head seems foggy at lot of the time these days and I can’t figure out what else it could be. I know once before I was having problems using the bathroom when I first got up in the morning and my doc said that the xanax could do that. Also is it a drug that you should stop cold turkey?

AskDocWeb: The side effects of xanax are drowsiness, light-headedness, sedation, impaired coordination, memory impairment, lethargy. You can not stop the drug abruptly because withdrawal symptoms and seizures may occur. Abuse or addiction is possible with this drug.

Thank you

I was wondering if this drug is the same as Fastin, how is it legal? I took Fastin with the Fhen- Phen combo many years ago, and it worked great. But Fastin was taken off the market for medical reasons, so is this the same drug that caused all those heart problems? Also if you are on anti-depressants, does this increase any side-effects?

AskDocWeb: We review many drugs on this website. Because we don’t know which drug you are talking about we can only give a general answer.
If you mix any prescription drug with an anti-depressant, you increase the chance of, and severity of some side effects.

I have been on Adoxa for about 8 months. About a month ago I started to feel a tingling sensation in my thigh. It would come and go. This past weekend I have noticed that it has gotten dramatically worse, and I have this feeling in my arms and legs. It’s like the muscles are twitching. It’s not a constant feeling, but its occurring more and more often. Is it possible that I am just now feeling the side effects of the drug?

AskDocWeb: Please get these symptoms checked out immediately by your physician, these are not to be ignored.

Directions on the bottle
Date: 5/15/2005
Your site says to take one cap in the morning and 2 in the evening. The directions on the bottle say to take one morning and one evening. Which one works best? Thanks

AskDocWeb: That depends on which product you are talking about. Always read the label, package insert and follow the directions given by your physician.

Finger swelling and Bactrim
Date: 5/18/2005
I recently had a UTI and was put on Bactrim. At the same time, I noticed my right index finger had some swelling in one knuckle. It has been 8 days since the UTI and the Bactrim prescription and that knuckle is more swollen, red and painful to the point that I can’t grasp very well with that finger. Could the 2 be related? If not what are some possible causes of the swelling and the pain?

AskDocWeb: The swollen knuckle has nothing to do with the Bactrim. If you were having an allergic reaction you would be having hives. Have your finger checked out by your physician.

Adderall and ADD
Date: 9/8/2005
I have recently been diagnosed with ADD as a 46 year old. I realize now I’ve had symptoms of ADD all my life. My doctor started me on 30mg Adderall and my symptoms of focus and organization deficits are greatly improved; however I have developed joint pain after taking the medication about one week. The joint pain and stiffness are becoming more severe. I spend a lot of time outdoors and I’m not sure if the pain/stiffness is associated with Adderall, or might I have the early stages of Lyme disease? Is joint pain and stiffness a side effect of Adderall?

AskDocWeb: Join pain was not listed as a side effect of this medication. However, you should know that Adderall is an amphetamine and it has the possibility of addiction. It is for short term use only. We suggest that you have your doctor check out the joint pain.

I am taking Hyzaar 100-25 and want to know how to get off of it and what side effects it has after long term usage.

AskDocWeb: The Hyzaar is to keep your blood pressure under control. You must remain on it until your doctor tells you different. There are no known long-term side effects of using Hyzaar.

Ear problem
Date: 10/6/2005
Every time I get a cold my ears bung up for a couple of days towards the end of it. This is really annoying and never used to happen. What’s wrong with me and how can I stop it happening again, or get rid of it when it does occur?

AskDocWeb: This sounds like it may be caused by inner ear infection. Please have your ears examined by your physician.

Subj: Pindolol
Date: 10/6/2005
What is pindolol?

AskDocWeb: Pindolol is a drug used in the management of some schizophrenic patients. It inhibits the metabolism of thioridazine so that the thioridazine stays in the body longer. Caution: The resulting elevated levels of thioridazine may increase the risk of serious, potentially fatal, cardiac arrhythmias.
