Subj: TID and BID

Date: 9/14/2003

My Grandmother is 88 and gets prescriptions from her doctor and I have heard of several pharmacies reading a prescription wrong and giving wrong dose on bottle, I want to be able to understand TID AND BID and take 1 or 2 BID OR TID. is there any literature you can send. Thank You.

Carolyn

AskDocWeb We can do a little better than that. There is an online source for finding out what
those criptic abreviations are all about. You can look them up on Globalrph.com

TID means Three times daily

BID means twice a day

Subj: HairGenesis

Date: 9/23/2003

I would like to know if you have or have plans to research HairGenesis.

Thanks, David

AskDocWeb: We are currently collecting data on them. If you know someone using it, tell them to visit AskDocWeb.com and let others know how it works.

Answer update 5/25/07: HairGenesis is not recommended.

Asenlix twitching
Date: 1/30/2005
I started taking Asenlix in combination with esbelcaps (fenproporex) almost a month ago and have lost several inches. However, I started experiencing muscle and body aches with sort of slight spasms and twitching throughout my body. Could this be related to the pills or does it sound like something else?

Claudia

AskDocWeb: Yes, it sounds like it is could be the pills. That is one of the reasons Asenlix was banned in the USA and the EU, the negative side effects.

Subj: Thank you

Date: 11/5/2003

Thank you for your report (on Avacor). It saved me lots of money.

Anthony

Subj: Colitromin

Date: 11/13/2003

What is Colitromin. Is this the Spanish version of Amoxicillian? I have two bottles and can’t remember what I got them for. Please let me know.

Bill

AskDocWeb: Colitromin or Ery-Tab is an antibiotic used to treat many different types of bacterial infections, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, whooping cough, Legionnaire’s disease, chlamydia, gonorrhea, skin infections, and others.

Subj: Glucotrol side effects
Date: 2/20/2006
Hi, wondering about the incidence of drowsiness/ or other CNS effects of Glucotrol on the elderly patient.

Debbie

AskDocWeb: Drowsiness has been reported in about 7% of users. Less than 3% of users experience CNS effects such as insomnia and anxiety.

Subj: Cellcept hair loss
Date: 2/20/2006

Ann++

AskDocWeb: We couldn’t find a set figure on hair loss in Cellcept users but it ranges from 3% to 20%.

I used to take Polaronil for my severe hayfever but now they are no longer available in Malta. What do you suggest I take? Is there any medcinal which has the same composition of Polaronil. Thanks

Joanne

AskDocWeb: I am not familiar with drugs available in Malta, sorry.

Subj: Tinnitis
Date: 3/23/2006
Do you have any recommendations for Tinnitis, herbs, drugs, etc.? Thanks,

Tony

AskDocWeb: No, tinnitis has to be taken care of by your physician.

Subj: Bad experience with laser treatment
Date: 4/12/2006
Hi, Had a very bad experience with laser to remove broken facial vessels from rosacea. I have red spots, brown spots, that won’t go away. The dermatologist was shocked…had never seen this in all his years doing laser…so then he gave me Tril uma cream, told me to use it morning and night to see if it would speed up getting rid of the hyperpigmentation. I have used it for 2 weeks now and not much improvement. However I do see more tiny red lines where there were none before. I heard that can be a side effect of Tri luma, but only after 2 weeks? Do you think it was from the laser or the Tri Luma?

Lisa

AskDocWeb: Probably from the Tri Luma, we doubt if the laser treatment would have done this. You should keep on top of this and go back to the dermatologist for help, before these tiny red lines increase.

Subj: Hollow sensation
Date: 4/23/2006
There seems to be a hollow sensation in my lower (right) lip. Had an abscess due to root canal infection. Gums became extremely inflamed and filled with blood. Received penicillin and percocet from the dentist. He injected a large amount of novacain about 3 weeks ago, but the hollowness still persist. What could be causing this? I am still on penicillin.

Delores

AskDocWeb: If you are referring to the hollowness as in, there is a hole there due to an extraction, it can take several weeks to fill in. If the hollowness is a numb sensation due to the Novocaine you might want to get a second opinion from another dentist.

Subj: Flexeril
Date: 4/23/2006
I just took 7 flexeril, will I be okay?

Nikki

AskDocWeb: You could cause liver damage, better have a liver function test to make sure. And it depends on how many mgs per pill you took. It could cause drowsiness, dry mouth and fatigue.

Subj: Asenlix
Date: 4/27/2006
I used Asenlix 10 years ago and went from 199lbs to 150lbs in about 4 months. I’ve been thinking about using it again and can’t find where to buy it online. Does anyone out there know of a reputable online pharmacy where I can Asenlix?

Shelly

AskDocWeb: Although Asenlix did work it also had life threatening side effects and was removed from the market.

Subj: Using Asenlix
Date: 5/9/2006
I am now using the asenlix and the only side effect that I have is dry mouth and I drink alot of water. The energy that I have allows me to run longer but the rate I am loosing weight is slow. My twin sister is the same. We started using it because we heard that you loose weight fast but so far nothing. Also what are the effects that it have on the CNS. I await your response. Please note we don’t use the 2 pills a day it is only taken once a day.

Fann

AskDocWeb: We suggest you talk to your doctor about an alternative weight loss pill because Asenlix (clobenzorex) is too dangerous. It was banned in the USA and the EU because of the life threatening side effects it has on the central nervous system.

Subj: Antabuse
Date: 6/3/2006
How long can a patient who was mistakenly prescribed antabuse be off the drug so that she can start drinking safely without the bad affects of antabuse

Bryan

AskDocWeb: Antabuse is prescribed to help alcoholics stop drinking and would not have been prescribed mistakenly by a doctor. If you want to begin drinking again, you can within 72 hours but…is it ever safe for an alcoholic to drink?

Subj: Adderall joint pain
Date: 6/27/2006
Hi, My 8-year-old son is on Adderall 10 mg QD. I read here (and other paces) that it is highly addictive. However, his psychiatrist says that it isn’t in low dozes. Is this true? Also, my son complains of joint pains sometimes and the only thing I can attribute it is to the med. I know that it is not a documented side effect of Adderall but have seen several people c/o of the pains. Is it possibly a side effect?
Thank you.

Sunny

AskDocWeb: Not according to the manufacturer but that does not rule out the possibility that these joint pains are caused by the med.

Subj: 100% natural?
Date: 7/20/2006
Hello! I like your site, boring layout, but with good content! I did read this on your site: “The ingredients are all 100% natural” This statement could really affect people to believe that just because something is 100% natural, it is safe. As a natural product, these “scams” never needs to play with open cards to the public. Arsenic is also natural, wanna try? 🙂 Sincerely,

Bob

AskDocWeb: We happen to like the taste of almonds and without the arsenic in them, almonds would not taste like almonds. Most people recognize that using a natural product is healthier than using a synthetic one. Of course this is a generality and most adults recognize that.

Subj: AVITA
Date: 7/24/2006
I have been using AVITA for about a week. I was pleasantly surprised that there has been no burning or peeling or flakiness. However, I think my acne seems a little worse, if anything. Do you think I should be using a higher percentage, or should I will this work as well as another if I hang in there? Also, is it possible that my skin will begin to clear up by the end of the first month?

Caroline

AskDocWeb: No need to change anything. Most often your acne will appear to be worse before it gets better.

Subj: Seroquel
Date: 8/9/2006
I have an airline drug test in 7 days. Can you tell me if Seroquel 100mg prescribed for sleep will show up and if so, is it approved by the FAA when taken as prescribed? What class of drug is this? Thanks.

Vickie

AskDocWeb: Sorry Vickie, we don’t keep up on the FAA regulations for drugs. The easiest solution would be to call the appropriate office and ask them. Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate) belongs to a new chemical class called dibenzothiazepine derivatives. It is a psychotropic agent.

Subj: Asenlix
Date: 8/23/2006
I have been using this product for about 1 week and it has not given me any headaches.

Ninerz

Subj: Asenlix
Date: 10/6/2006
I have been using Asenlix off and on for almost 8 years. When I first began to use it I lost weight right away. I probably dropped 50 pounds in 4 months. It was easy to take it and not eat anything all day. But now I have not been able to lose any weight. I take it and I don’t eat but the next day I over eat big time. Then I truly believe that it causes depression. I am not a smoker or a drinker never was. But when I take Asenlix I have to. It is a bad habit to begin. All my friends are taking it and are experiencing the same symptoms I am. I know that we were not like this before we began taking it. It is addictive also. As we speak I am getting some mailed to me from my mom and my friend. Sad, but I just started taking Zoloft and I hope not to take the Asenlix and get my life on track. Please beware of this medication it can and will take over your life. It gives you that energy at first to deal with the kids, make conversation with your husband when your tired, and continue the housework when you should be about to pass on, but beware of the side affects. Because after a while these symptoms go away and leave you feel exhausted, depressed and full of anxiety. I hope this deters anyone that is thinking about taking it.

Laura
