Could Nexium cause sinus problems?

My husband has been taking Nexium for acid reflux. He has Barrett’s Esophagus, so it is very important that the reflux stays under control. Nexium has been working well. However he has been having terrible problems with sinus drainage for the last year-plus. Could the sinus problems be caused by the Nexium? Is there an alternative? Prilosec did not work for the reflux.

AskDocWeb: Sinus irritation and sinus congestion are listed as infrequent side effects of Nexium oral so that is one possible cause. Of course there are other possible causes. There are a few alternatives so it may be worthwhile to discuss this with your doctor.
Pain behind the eyes

My husband has been taking nexium 20mg for two days now and he is experiencing pain behind his eye. Is it common as a side effect? If so could he use anything for the pain?

AskDocWeb: Pain behind the eye is not listed among the clinically recognized side effects of Nexium. However, there are three related side effects so check with your doctor. A small percentage of patients experience yellow eyes, large, hive-like swelling on the eyelids, or puffiness or swelling of the eyelids.
My belly looks pregnant

I took Nexium for mornings and my stomach blew up like a balloon! I stopped taking it but my belly continues to make me look 8 months pregnant! I must wear things that are like maternity clothes.

AskDocWeb: Excess air or gas in the stomach is listed as one of the possible side effects of Nexium that should be reported to your doctor immediately. Acid reflux and stomach bloating can sometimes occur together but they are separate conditions.

See your doctor to test both levels before deciding whether or not to supplement with vitamin D.
Acute Diverticulitis

I was prescribed Nexium for gas and bloating. After 12 days of Nexium, I had to be hospitalized for Acute Diverticulitis. Stay away from the PPIs.

Diarrhea and dehydration

I ONLY TOOK NEXIUM FOR A WEEK. HAD TO STOP BECAUSE IT GAVE ME WATERY DIARRHEA. WENT TO ER BECAUSE OF DEHYDRATION. THIS MEDICINE SHOULD BE BANNED!!!!!!!!

I take slippery elm

Hi I’ve had very bad flare ups with my acid reflux and I take nexium in the morning try to eat small meals and take iced water for flare ups and also in the day because it seems to cool down the inflammation similar to a burn on your skin. At night I take slippery elm to coat the asophagus and help heal. I find that the nexium is working at healing but I am worried about taking it too long but I have to take it until im healed. Maybe this won’t work for everyone but it does for me.

First day taken nexuum hp7, felt bitterness in my mouth. Is that normal?

AskDocWeb: Bitterness in the mouth is often caused by the condition being treated however, it is also the number one reported side effect of Nexium hp7.
