Topiramate

I have been on a weight loss program. Been taking phentermine hcl 37.5 mg. Recently was also given the drug Topiramate 50mg to take along with the other drug. I did not feel like I got enough information from my doctor about this drug. Going on the internet & researching it myself has made me not want to take it. I am wondering if you could give me some information on this drug. Isn’t is for seizures? If so should a person that doesn’t have seizures be taking such meds – wouldnt that cause seizures later on? I haven’t taken the medicine yet with the phentermine. I just would like more information. My doctor basically said it was something new that had come out & gave it to me. Said if I liked it to take it if I didn’t then don’t take it. I would love any information or concerns that you might have with these two medications combined. For instance does it cause heart problems? I am a healthy person and would love to keep it that way.

AskDocWeb: Topiramate (brand name Topamax) is an anticonvulsant (antiepilepsy) drug. It was most recently approved for weight loss by the FDA. MedlinePlus has a pretty good FAQ about Topiramate. That FAQ also lists more than 60 possible side effects and some do involve the heart.
Same weight for two months

Hello there:) I am 5’4 128 pounds and I’m phentermine ive been on for gosh seven or so months. I want to be down to 115 that’s my goal and I’m almost there but my problem is I’ve been the same weight for two months won’t get any lower:( if I take one in morning and one at noon will that be safe? Please get back with means thank you!

- Try Intermittent Fasting.
- Workout While Glycogen depleted to burn fat faster.
