Non stop bleeding/spotting
Date: 12/2/2013
I’ve been taking phentermine for about a month, and while I have heard that it affects your menstrual cycle. Before I started to take it my cycle was starting to taper off, once I started taking them it’s been non stop consistent bleeding/spotting. What can I take to resolve this issue, I don’t want birth control, I just don’t want to add anymore drugs into my system if possible, any natural solution you would recommend?

AskDocWeb: There are a few natural solutions that others have found helpful. Some of these home remedies might be in your cupboard right now.
Do you like buckwheat pancakes? Buckwheat is high in bioflavonoids, which can reduce heavy bleeding when taken with vitamin C. Fruits, nuts, and seeds are also high in bioflavonoids. Ginger can sometimes make irregular periods regular. It is used in cookies, cake, and candy or as a spice in vegetables and stir-fries. The most effective form might be in tea where 1/2 teaspoon is used in 1 cup boiling water, and drank three times a day.
Women who have heavy periods may find relief by taking vitamin K supplements. This is the case even if the blood levels of the vitamin are within the normal range.
It is also important to get regular exercise during the month because this increases circulation to the pelvic region and helps clear out prostaglandins, which can make that time of the month go easier.
Irregular vaginal bleeding
Date: 12/28/2013
Started phentermine end of October. Had regular menstrural cycle in November but had spotting 2 weeks after for 2 day. Then 2 weeks later started spotting to light vaginal bleeding for a week then regular cycle started. Lasted 7 days and heavy which has been normal for about a year.
I am 42 so I’ve thought I was in perimenopause. All together I had a cycle of 14 days then spotted 1 day. After a week I began to spot again, mostly in the morning. I’ve always had a normal cycle 28-30 days. From my teens till my late 30s it was usually 4 or 5 days and light to moderate flow. As I reached my late 30s it did get heavier and lasted 7 days. This fluctuated not heavy every month. When my 40s my cycle continued to be regular but heavy. The last 6 months or so I had clots but cycle continued to be regular up until I started phentermine. I’ve had spotting almost everyday since December 1. I’m also on iron supplements started those at the same time due to low H &H.
My leaves are up. I feel great down 25lbs getting ready to start my 3 red month on phentermine. Am going to have a pelvic ultrasound and a biopsy just to be safe. I honesty believe the irregular vaginal bleeding is a side effect from the phentermine, there is others with this side effect but it is not listed as one.
