Subj: Nighttime urination
Date: 1/13/2006
I have been using phentermine off and on for several years and found it helped me lose weight. Recently I have experienced a frequent need to urinate at night. Is there any relationship between the use of phentermine and nighttime urination?
John
AskDocWeb: Not to our knowledge. If you drink an excessive amount of liquid within 3 or 4 hours of bedtime you would naturally wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. If that is not the case for you then we suggest you have a urinalysis done at your doctor’s office to rule out other health problems.
Subj: Headaches
Date: 1/13/2006
I took this med for the first time about five years ago for about 2-3 months. I had great results. I then took it again last year, however, I had severe headaches and mood swings. Even after discontinuing the pills, I continued to have headaches. It took about a month before I went headache free. I really want to continue for the results, but I’m afraid I my body just can’t handle the pills anymore. I read that headaches were a minor side effect, however, for me it was very intense headaches. Any suggestions?
AJ
AskDocWeb: Ask your doctor for an alternative, there are many. Intense headaches will interfere with your life, your job, etc. and that isn’t worth it, right?
Subj: Phentermine tablets or capsules?
Date: 1/25/2006
Hi! I took Phentermine tablets 37,5 mg for 2 years ago. It was successful. I have now started on Phentermine 37,5 mg Capsules, but I do not feel less hunger. Is there a difference between tablets and capsules?
Ingunn
AskDocWeb: No there isn’t any difference between the capsules and the tablet form. You should be feeling less craving for food within the first week. Maybe you are just not noticing you are actually eating less food than before. If you have been taking Phentermine for 2-3 weeks and haven’t noticed any changes, then this drug may not work for you. Sometimes that happens when you develop a tolerance for the drug.
Subj: Phentremine side effects
Date: 1/25/2006
I am thinking about ordering phentrermine but am worried about the side effects. I have tried other stimulant drugs over the counter but could not take them for more than 2 days because they interrupted my sleep. How does phentrermine differ from over the counter diet pills?
Doris
AskDocWeb: Phentermine does stimulate the central nervous system and keep you awake. Typically, prescription drugs are a higher dosage than products sold over the counter.
Subj: Constipation and rectal bleeding
Date: 1/29/2006
I would like to know if it is possible to have rectal bleeding due to Phentermine? I have been on Phentermine 30 mg for 4 weeks and have lost 15 pounds, and I have been experiencing constipation and rectal bleeding, even when I drink plenty of water and take stool softeners. Any recommendations?
Judith
AskDocWeb: Constipation and rectal bleeding, ummm, seems you have a very irritated colon. Sounds like you should make an appointment with your physician.
Subj: Feeling cold in extremities
Date: 2/1/2006
I seem to be really cold lately (my fingers & toes)and I was wondering if this is one of the side effects of taking Phentermine? Please advise.
Krista
AskDocWeb: Possibly, it sounds like you are beginning to have a circulation problem. You should speak with your physician before that cold feeling affects other parts of your body.
Subj: What dosage?
Date: 2/7/2006
What is the difference in the yellow and blue phentermine 30mg. When first starting phentermine, what dosage should a person start at?
Ginger
AskDocWeb: 37.5 mgs is the usual recommended dosage but you should talk to your doctor about what is best for your situation.
Subj: Vision problem
Date: 2/8/2005
I have been taking phentermine for one week now. And on the seventh day I noticed a change in my vision, it seems to be a bit more blurry. But I feel I can manage. My Blood pressure also was borderline elevated. I was cautioned that this pill may not be for me, but I have enjoyed the results. I want to try to continue with my Rx. Please let me know if I might cause significant harm to myself by finishing my 30 day supply.
Cameron
AskDocWeb: If you vision is blurred now and you continue taking it, you run the risk that your vision may not go back to normal. For us, that would be an unacceptable risk for the sake of losing a few pounds.
Subj: Headache
Date: 2/10/2005
How much weight loss can you expect in the first week or two, also I have taken it before and I seem to get a headache when taking it, is this normal? It is more like pressure. I don’t have high blood pressure.
Justine
AskDocWeb: The first week or two you may only lose 2-5 lbs. If taking this medication causes you to have headaches, this is an adverse reaction and you should talk to your doctor about it.
Subj: Phentermine fatigue
Date: 2/15/2006
I just started taking Phentermine 37.5mg today. I took the first half this morning and the second half this afternoon 1 hour before my late lunch. It didn’t do anything for my cravings or my appetite. Why not?
Also, my BIGGEST PROBLEM is that on the way home after my lunch, I began to feel EXTREME fatigue and when I got home I crashed: I fell into a deep trance-like sleep. This has never happened to me before. I had plenty of rest last night. So, I don’t understand how an “amphetamine-like” drug put me to sleep like it did. If phentermine put me to sleep, it isn’t working the way it should. What could be the cause of its adverse reaction? Could I have a specific medical issue that causes me to react to it in such a way? If so, what could it possibly be?!!! Have you heard of anyone else experiencing such debilitating fatigue? It felt like I had taken a strong sleeping pill. PLEASE send me any information on Fatigue/Phentermine that you can find! Thanks! Wish me lots of luck. . . it looks like I’m going it need it 🙂 Thank you!
~Jen
AskDocWeb: We certainly have not heard of this before with Phentermine, but some people have abnormal reactions to certain meds. Like Benadryl will wire some people up and cause others to sleep. Have a consultation with your physician on this subject. There are other weightloss meds you can use.
Subj: Side effects are not fun
Date: 2/16/2006
I have been taking Phentermine for 6 weeks and 4 days. I was not particularly heavy to begin with, but I wanted to lose 10 stubborn lbs that I put on during a stressful time in my life. I have lost 8 pounds to-date. I am satisfied with my results, however, I often experienced severe dizziness upon standing from a seated or reclined position. Sometimes my hands went numb for the length of the dizzy spell (~10 seconds). I did have mild constipation while using Phentermine, but this was alleviated by increasing my fiber intake. I did not experience any of the side effects that would hint at a severe problem (stroke, chest pain, breathing difficulties, panic, tiredness, mood swings). If you are considering using Phentermine, yes it works; please also note and weigh heavily the side effects. They are not fun.

Subj: Phentermine fatigue
Date: 2/17/2006
I take one 37.5 pill in the morning like prescribed but by 10:00 I am so tired, all I want to do is sleep. This can’t be normal. Do you know why or have any suggestions that might help me?
Devon
AskDocWeb: Hummm, another Phentermine fatigue comment. Well, we know that this is not normal, it’s usually the opposite. If you are just beginning to take phentermine this may wear off, but if not consult with your physician and let us know what he says.
Subj: Phentermine withdrawals?
Date: 2/23/2006
I have taken Phentermine for weeks at a time for almost a year and when I stop taking them, I have been having night terrors, exhaustion, dizziness, breakouts. Are these any signs of withdrawl?
Traci
AskDocWeb: Yes, it sounds like you are having withdrawal symptoms. Talk with your doctor to help you rid yourself of this misery.
Subj: Leg pain with Phentermine
Date: 2/23/2006
Hello , I started taking phentermine 4 months ago, about 7 weeks of taking it my lags and knees started aching really bad. I really notice it at night when I laid down for bed the pain would wake me up. If I take advil it will go away. I had a blood clot in my left leg due to birth control when I was 20 yrs old I’m 39 now. I quit taking the pentermine for about 3 weeks and the pain in my legs went away. I started taking them again 3 days ago and my legs are killing me tonight. Should I be concern about this or is it a normal side effect. If anyone has had leg pain while taking this pill please let me know. I have lost 35lb and I don’t want to stop unless I have to. Thanks
Melissa
AskDocWeb: We suggest that you talk to your doctor about another way to lose weight.
Subj: Phentermine side effects
Date: 2/24/2006
I have been using Phentermine for 6 days now. The first 4 days I took the entire dose of 37.5. For the past 2 days I have been breaking the pills in half because of some side effects. I have trouble sleeping, blurred vision, some times I get dizzy and can’t fully concentrate. I have already lost 6 pounds and don’t want to stop taking the pills so that is why I have been taking half the dose. With half the dose my I don’t have the side effects but the pill is not working to control my hunger. I ordered the pills off the internet with no percription but I know I don’t have any of the problems listed letting me know not to take the pill. My question is should I stop the pill or will my side effects go away soon?
Christy
AskDocWeb: Your health is more important than having to put up with blurred vision, lack of sleep and dizziness. Talk to your doctor about discontinuing the pills and start exercising more.
Subj: Trying to loose a couple of pounds
Date: 2/28/2006
I have taken Phentermine for three days. Occasionally, I feel my heart beating. Not pounding, but I notice it when I move around fast. I’m 130 5’6 and trying to loose just a couple of pounds. Is it abnormal or dangerous that I can notice my heartbeat at times? I plan to stop taking the drug after a week or two, but wanted to make sure this symptom was ok for the time being.
K
AskDocWeb: Yes, it is abnormal for your heart to race like this. Phentermine is for the management of obesity not to lose a couple of pounds. Read more feedback from users.
