Allergy?
Date: 1/5/2016
I have been on phentermine for three years (prescription) to help with the fatigue of MS. 1/2 to 1 pill – 37.5mg. In the past 5 months, I have developed large itchy welts/hives on my face, arms, fingers, and buttocks. Is it possible to develop an allergy to a medication after prolonged use?
Amy
AskDocWeb: Yes, it is possible to develop an allergy even after years of using a medication. This is one of the subjects that we all could benefit from a great deal more research.
Phentermine review

This medicine is a miracle worker, I am so thankful to my Dr for prescribing it to me. I was on it a month and a half and lost 17 lbs. I had almost all including rare side effects for about the first 3 1/2 weeks but then most were gone. However I did get very sick from it as well I ended up in the hospital for a few days with very dangerously low potassium and a swollen liver, on top of that I guess my immune system went really low and I also had pneumonia in my right lung. Drs at the hospital never said my low potassium and swollen liver was from phenyermine but you be the judge. I feel it was but I still think n feel this medicine is the best for wright loss and at first I was taking vitamins and after 2 weeks I stopped them maybe I wouldn’t have got suck if I would of kept taking them daily so its been 2mos since I was sick so I am going to begin this medicine again soon iv been able to keep the weight off so I just think this is the best medicine out there for weight loss. I’m excited to see how much I’ll lose this time around.

I had laparoscopic surgery for acid reflux 10 days ago. Can I start taking phentermine?
Debra
AskDocWeb: You’ll have to ask your doctor about that. There are a number of things that need to be considered before prescribing Phentermine.
