Subj: Phentermine online
Date: 5/10/2006
I ordered phentermine online twice. In the first order the pills were imprinted with A159 & the second the pills were imprinted MP273. I know the first order was really phentermine because I looked it up online, but the second I’m not sure because I can’t find a site to identify it. I don’t want to take them till I know what they are. Can you tell me what this pill MP273 is? Is it phentermine?
Stacey
AskDocWeb: We know that Phentermine is made by more than one drug company but we don’t keep up on all the details of the code numbers. If your second Phentermine order was from the same source as the first order then it is probably legit.
Subj: Recommend limited use of Phentermine
Date: 5/15/2006
I have been taking Phentermine for 4 months off and on. It has been wonderful for my post-baby weight loss. Lately my husband has noticed an attitude change in me though. Once I did more research, I found out that these pills can cause it. I have recommended this supplement to many people, but I will advise them, as I am you, stop taking them after the recommended time of 4-6 weeks or at least as soon as you notice any changes other than weight.

Subj: Be careful with Phentermine
Date: 5/16/2006
I started taking the highest dose and quickly lost weight, gained confidence, and lot’s of energy. After a month I developed Hives. I have never had an allergy to anything, not only that but I did not change anything like detergents. I stopped taking phentermine and stopped getting hives. I really missed the high energy so I started on phentermine again, and so the hives came back. Although a rare side affect, it is extremely bad. My doc started me on Predisone and of course I have gained back 5 lbs. from this. Last concern is that phentermine is really addictive, I was constantly in a state of false Euphoria. JUST BE CARFULL when taking this pill, try to diet and exercise if that doesn’t work then try phentermine.

Subj: Why Phentermine for only 3 months?
Date: 5/17/2006
Hi, I have taken Phentermine for six months all together{took for 3 month and off for 3 months and on again) I have lost about 38 pounds, I probably would lose more if I would stop drinking alcohol on the weekends. I have noticed some side effects of this medication, but if you are discouraged about losing weight on your own, and haven’t lost anything yet, it does work. I think now, I have became addictive to the pill, just wanting the energy it gives you. Yes, I do have to lose alot more weight. I am 35 years old, and weight 180 pounds and am only 5’1″. So my BMI is way over. I have many friends and family members already on this pill, but for some reason, I have been seen by the doctor and they have been seen by the PA ( the Pa is good friends with them} and she just writes their prescriptions for them non stop. My sister looks anorecsic, But my question is why does my doctor make me go off the pill for 3 months and the PA just keep writing them prescriptions?
Karen
AskDocWeb: The body has a tendency to build up a tolerance for the drug over a period of about 3 months and it stops working for weight loss. It sounds like your doctor is taking better care of you than that PA is taking of your friends. Long-term continuous use of Phentermine is a prescription for trouble.
Subj: Pulse shoots up
Date: 5/24/2006
I have started taking phentermine 6 days ago. I take half in the morning and half at lunch time. I have not felt like I have anymore energy but I have noticed very little exercise makes my pulse shoot up. Is this safe? I also am so tired around 5 in the afternoon I am sleeping very hard at night and it is hard for me to wake in the morning, are these symptoms normal?
H
AskDocWeb: The question of it being safe will have to be answered by your doctor because it depends on your current medical condition.
Subj: Phentermine hair loss?
Date: 5/25/2006
I have been on Phentermine on and off for 1 year. I am finally losing the weight for good. Has anyone experienced a side effect of losing their hair? Mine is starting to thin and I am really worried!
Melly
AskDocWeb: Hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Phentermine but there are reports of it.
Subj: Taking a break
Date: 5/26/2006
I really agree with idea to take a break after four weeks of phentermine. I actually had taken for only week days and skip the weekend and it was enough for me, I was taking like this for three weeks then I took break for a whole week and started again. I feel fine, but I still wonder if I did the right thing, all together it was five weeks today, so I really want to know.
After all I lost just 12 pounds, but I really do not like the idea of loosing more then 2 pounds a week after week one when you on the diet program.

AskDocWeb: The idea is to avoid developing a dependence, not to allow you to use this “crutch” for a longer period of time. This drug is supposed to be an aid to assist you in learning to get control of your weight while you learn weight management. Without making changes to your diet and exercising to keep the weight off, it is a waste of time.
Subj: Phentermine hives
Date: 5/30/2006
I’ve been on Phentermine for 3 weeks today. Exactly one week after being on the medicine I lost 4 pounds but noticed a constant itch on my feet, legs and arms. The itch was uncontrollable and felt more like a slew of mosquito bites. When I had a chance to remove my pants and look at what was happening, my legs were all raw, bumpy and irritated from scratching. The only relief I had while sleeping at night was by cold packing each arm and each leg – switching out the cold packs in the middle of the night. Could it be possible that this medicine causes hives? I stopped taking the medicine 3 days ago and the itching and rash have subsided to a minor scratch here and there. Any info you have would be helpful. Thanks,
Patty
AskDocWeb: Yes it can cause hives when there is an allergic reaction, which means you should talk to your doctor.
Subj: Phentermine long-term?
Date: 5/30/2006
I am concerned about my wife. She has been taking diet pills for 6 years. She used to take ephedra until it was taken off of the market. About 3 years ago she began taking phentermine, 37.5 mg. To my knowledge she has taken them everyday. Now she takes up to 4 a day. I have read all the side effects and how no long term studies have been done because it is meant for short term use. I have also noticed that she can not stop moving her left hand, ever. She is constantly flicking her fingers with her thumb, and I mean constantly. I know she is addicted to them. How long can she keep this up without causing permanent damage?
Concerned Hubby
AskDocWeb: That depends on too many factors to go into here. Phentermine looses its effectiveness over a period of time, which is why she will want more and more if nothing is done. You might try having a talk with her doctor and then have the doctor talk to her.
Subj: Large pimples
Date: 6/1/2006
I started taking phentermine 37.5 mg two months ago. My doctor always checks my vital signs and weight before refilling the meds. This time he stated he was going to lower the dosage, and cautioned me to discontinue the meds if I noticed any chest pain, shortness of breath, increased blood pressure etc. He stated to go to the ER and be checked. I do think he will not refill the meds next month. My blood sugar was down to 35, which was not good. My face is broken out with large pimples, which are painful and itch at the same time. This happened only recently. Thank you for listening.

Subj: Phentermine not working
Date: 6/4/2006
I have been on phentermine 37.5 for 2weeks now. On the first day I had a lot of energy and was not hungry at all. The following couple of days I was sick as a dog and vomiting all the time. But I stayed strong and continued the medication but I have not lost any weight even though I began to exercise and bike two miles a day. I drink nothing but water now and eat my three meals a day but the pills do not seem to be working to help me lose weight. Is there a reason why I am not losing any weight? Everyone one I know that has taken phetermine has lost at least something.
Tammy
AskDocWeb: Sounds like you need to consult with your doctor. This drug does not work the same for everyone.
Subj: Blood clots?
Date: 6/6/2006
Have you ever heard of blood clots and phentermine? I had one and am leary of taking any kind of hormone/pills etc.
Jan
AskDocWeb: It isn’t listed as a side effect of phentermine however, one of the contraindications is blood vessel disease.
Subj: Side effect of phentermine?
Date: 6/10/2006
I started taking phentermine and on the second day I noticed I had some areas on my thighs that were discolored, bruised like. Then on my arms as well. Some areas are large and others are small dot type. Is this a side effect of the phentermine?
Rachel
AskDocWeb: No, it sounds like you had better consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
Subj: Phentermine story
Date: 6/12/2006
Hello, I was introduced to phentermine after I had a baby and just couldn’t get that baby weight off. I had been a swim suit model for years and took a hard hit to my self esteem when I saw myself in the mirror and what I had become. I started taking it and I was very scared at first. I worked for chiropractor that was very against medications such as this one. I had tried everything else and my heart raced and I even passed out a time or two from over the counter weight loss pills that were just way too strong for my system. I changed my diet to less than 20 grams of fat a day, no soda, only water and 1 glass of milk a day, no eating after 7pm and started to take Phentermine and lost 42 pounds in a month and 2 days. After 7 years the weight never came back but boy do I miss the energy that was in that little pill. Good Luck all!

Subj: Phentermine works
Date: 6/14/2006
Well I have been on the medication for nearly three weeks and have lost about 10 pounds already. I haven’t been exercising as I should be, but I am eating healthy. I don’t feel hungry all day long like I used to. However, I can’t say I have experienced any change in energy level.

Subj: Weight loss after surgery?
Date: 6/16/2006
My question, I lost 30 lbs. On phentermine, I wanted to have a tummy tuck, so I had to quit smoking, quit the phentermine. I quit all of this on April 24th, and had my surgery on May 25th. I have gained 13lbs and am watching what I eat, mainly the same thing I ate while I was on the phentermine, a little more on weekends but, my doctor is saying he does not want me back on the phentermine for 3 more months. What would be the draw back on my recovery if started taking the phentermine again, or is there anything else I can take in the meantime? Ps. I am still swollen from my surgery. Thanks,
debbie
AskDocWeb: Be very careful and listen to what your doctor says. He probably wants you to heal before starting the weight loss program again. Read more feedback from users.
