Subj: Addicted to Phentermine
I have used this drug and I became addicted to it very quickly. I like not feeling hungry and having LOTS of energy. I didn’t take this for weight loss, even though I did lose a few pounds. I mainly became addicted to the feelings associated with the drug. Now that I can’t have any more prescribed, I want to sleep all the time. This is impossible since I have 3 small children at home. My metabolism has been affected by phentermine because it sped it way up, then WAY down after my dr. quit prescribing. I ordered it off the internet for a few months, but I know I can’t be on it forever. We have a good family friend who’s a pharmacist and he’s commented before about phentermine saying it makes “people look real good in their coffin.” This scared me and I feel like others should know how dangerous this drug is. Thanks.
Subj: Menstrual cycle
I’m using phentermine right now and wondering what are the effects on the menstrual cycle because I’m having all of my regular pre-menstrual symptoms but no menstrual cycle yet plus I’ve taken two home pregnancy tests and both results were positive but I was wondering does phentermine have an effect on HCG hormone. Does anyone know?
AskDocWeb: Phentermine could change your mensis cycle but it wouldn’t cause a positive pregnancy test.
Subj: Any suggestions?
Hi, I have been taking phentermine for about two years. A couple breaks here and there but pretty much continuously. I am 40 years old. I lost 45 lbs. I go to the gym 4 days a week. I was diagnosed with depression about 6 years ago. I currently take cymbalta for my depression. I also notice that phentermine makes me feel really good emotionally, I know they say your not supposed to take it for more than a couple weeks. I’m just wondering if anyone else is going thru this. If I knew that there weren’t any long term effects I would keep taking it without worrying. Any suggestions? Thanks,
AskDocWeb: Just a warning: You are not supposed to take phentermine with an anti-depressant. Please talk to your doctor about this.
Subj: Blurred vision
I have been taking phentermine for 2 1/2 weeks and have lost around 10 pounds. I have also gone down a size in clothes. I am very happy with the results. I have never been so in control in my life. However, I have been having some problems with my eyes. It seems that I may be having a small bit of blurred vision. Is this something that will go away after I discontinue use?
AskDocWeb: You should tell your doctor about the changed vision at the first onset. Your sight should get better upon discontinuation but don’t take chances like this over a few pounds.
Subj: Couldn’t take it
I have been on this phentermine for approx. 1 month. The fist few weeks…I lost about 7 pounds. Great! But, I did notice that I had a very short fuse. Alot of agitation and mood swings. Especially I noticed big difference a week before my period. I just could not take it. High, High stung!! Also, I had very dry mouth.
Subj: Chest pains
I started taking phentermine in March of 2007. I took it for five days and lost 8 pounds. After reading about phentermine I got very scared and stopped taking it. Today is my first day back on it and I had some problems. I had chest pains that lasted for a few seconds and my heart was beating very funny. What should I do? I am 24 years old and had a MRI done on my heart in October 2006 and every thing was fine.
AskDocWeb: If it caused us chest pains we would quit taking it and see a doctor!
Subj: Extremely tired
Hello! I have been on Phentermine 30 mg for the last 6 days, and have experienced loss of energy and feel extremely tired. People I live with even comment on how “dead tired” I look. It takes such an effort to go about daily activities…. Also, on the first day I felt like I noticed a decrease in appetite, but now I feel absolutely famished all day- even after eating sensible, healthy meals. It’s as if I have more of an appetite than ever before. After reading about so many individuals’ success with this product, I so want for this to work for me!! Could it be that I just need to give this more time to start controlling my appetite and increasing my energy? Will this fatigue subside? I appreciate any response/answer! Thanks!
AskDocWeb: It should have started working for you by now. It sounds like you may be having an adverse reaction. Please consult with your physician about an alternative.
Subj: Yeast infection or vaginal discharge?
Can phentermine cause a yeast infection or vaginal discharge?
AskDocWeb: No, it hasn’t been known to do that.
Subj: Taking Phentermine and Xenical together
I have been taking pentermine 37.5 mg and have only been on it for 1 week. I have noticed changes in my view of food. Not thinking about it as much. I am also on Xenical, to use as needed. Are there any problems with taking both of these meds together? Has anyone else had success by taking both of these meds together? I haven’t lost any weight after one week and am wondering what I am doing wrong. I am barely eating and so I thought I would see something by now.
Subj: Phentermine with lexapro?
Can you take phentermine with lexapro? I was taking the 37.5mg of phen and my anxiety attacks were getting worse so I upped my Lexapro to 20mg and I felt better but then a couple of days later I blacked in my car after I parked it. I was shaking very badly. It was almost like my sugar bottomed out or something. Does mixing these two meds cause such a reaction? It scared me so I stopped taking the phen but the anxiety hasn’t got any better either. And I still have the pounding of my heart where you can literally hear it stop and start again.
AskDocWeb: Please do not up your Lexapro dosage without first consulting with your physician. Taking phentermine with lexapro should only be done under the supervision of a doctor.
Subj: Lost 42 pounds
I have been taking Phentermine for 3 months now and I have lost 42 pounds so far. My doctor prescribes me a month’s worth of pills at a time and after I finish a month’s worth I go in to be examined. The only problem that I have been having with this pill is I have an increased sex drive. I can’t concentrate because I have such an intense desire until I can’t concentrate. It is doing wonders for my sex life with my husband but I am having a hard time wrestling with these urges. I am too embarrassed to tell my doctor. What should I do?
AskDocWeb: There may be nothing you can do about these urges until you stop the Phentermine. Since people tend to build up a tolerance for the drug, enjoy it while it lasts.
Subj: Phentermine & Armour thyroid
I have been on Phentermine & Armour thyroid since 1/19/07 and I’ve successfully dropped from 347 to 300 at 5 ft 9inches I’m finally starting to see my waist again. I recently went to one my daughters little friends b/d party and her mom hasn’t seen me since January about the time I start, and she’s like OMG you have dropped it girl. So it’s worth every penny. Some of the side effects I’ve experienced:
1st couple of weeks = increased heart rate or palpitation. (found out that mixing the morning doses of armour thyroid 60 mg and phentermine 37.5 mg is not good and was causing the heart issues)
Week 8= started kind of noticing that it was wearing off a little early in the evening (craving food) so I started taking it later in the day about 11a-12pm, because I’m a evening eater.
Week 10 = Noticing some of the dry mouth wearing off (that’s a sign its working for me) so I stopped taking it for a week, increased my intake a little….Had a stall on the loss. Only lost 12 pounds in last 6 weeks.
Week 11= back on it (working, but a little bit of the heart palpitations are back the last couple of days)….dry mouth is back as well. But the weight is starting to come off again. I’ll check back. Good luck to all!
AskDocWeb: We hope you told your doctor about those heart palpitations!
Subj: Phyto shape?
Hi, I wanted to ask about Phyto shape? Is it good? Does it have any side effects? Thank you,
AskDocWeb: According to chemical analysis by the National Health Authority (NHA) Phyto Shape contains a chemical called sibutramine which is dangerous to your health.
Sibutramine has grave side effects. It can cause increased blood pressure, allergic reactions which could lead to breathing difficulties, a swollen tongue, and closure of the throat. It can also lead to easy bleeding, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeats, severe headaches, blurred vision and seizures.
Phyto Shape was banned on the UAE market after the country’s Ministry of Health declared it was not a herbal supplement as claimed.
Subj: Numbness in limbs
I have been taking Phentermine for about 4 weeks now and I have lost 11 pounds. Recently, I have noticed numbness in my limbs. Is this normal? It is very uncomfortable and weird feeling.
AskDocWeb: No, it is not normal. You need to report this to your doctor before the problem gets any worse.
Subj: Concerned about hair loss
I just started taking phentermine 37.5, one per day and have about 13 lbs. to lose. My real concern is about hair loss and how to avoid it. I had lipo done 10 months ago and went into telogen effluvium from the general anesthesia and my hair is still a mess. Will keeping my calorie level at 1200 help prevent hair loss? Many thanks,
AskDocWeb: No, calorie intake won’t help with the hair loss. You might try a shampoo like Nisim to help you keep the hair you have now. Read more feedback from users.
