Subj: Pleased with Phentermine
Date: 5/29/2007
I was so pleased with this product and noticed loss in weight quickly. then like it says it wears off and now I have an appetite back. How long should one stay off until they go back on to be affective again? Thanks
Erica
AskDocWeb: That depends on too many things that we don’t know. Please consult with your physician to find out when and if it would be safe for you to do that.
Subj: Drug test
Date: 5/31/2007
How long will it show up in your drug test? How long should I stop taking it before my test?
Eve
AskDocWeb: You may not want to be on it at all if you are supposed to have any type of drug testing done. They do these tests by surprise and could pop one on you tomorrow.
Subj: Recommend this Rx
Date: 6/1/2007
I’ve been taking phentermine for several weeks (I was using it, then had a cold and stopped for 2 weeks, and am now back on it). I’ve had my Dr. carefully monitor my blood pressure every 2 weeks. So far, I have lost nearly 20lbs! I can’t believe it. I’d recommend this Rx, as long as you have a great Dr. Not just to hand over a prescription, but to answer questions and give support. The added support is what has really made such a difference.

Subj: Anyone else develop acne?
Date: 6/3/2007
I have been on phentermine for a few weeks now. I am 40 years old. I noticed that since taking this medication I have developed acne. I have looked at all the side effects and none state that acne is one of them. I have never had a problem with acne before. Has anybody else experienced this? What did you use to get rid of the acne? Thanks.

Subj: Irregular period
Date: 6/6/2007
Since using phentermine I have now noticed that I have had an extended period. I normally have mine like clockwork. But since being on this pill (1 month) I have had a continuos period, first it was a normal 2-3 day not heavy then it just spotted for the next 2 weeks and now I am having my period again. Should I be concerned? Is it possible this pill could have an effect on my hormones? I have lost some weight but not a huge amount, I think I may have lost 5-8lbs this month. I don’t think that is too drastic. But any advice would be greatly appreciated
Terri
AskDocWeb: Yes, this pill can affect your period. If it balances out in the next month great, if not, then you may not want to use Phentermine at all. Better talk to your doctor about this.
Subj: Suggestions to speed weight loss?
Date: 6/6/2007
I started Phentermine about two weeks ago, took it for one week then got the side effect of dry mouth it drove me crazy so I went off for about four days and it improved, but I went back to eating and had less energy so I decided I would put up with the side effect because losing weight was more important than the dry mouth. I have been back on it for a week and have only lost about 3-4pounds in the whole two weeks, I have cut calories down to about 800 or sometimes I eat over 1,000 and sometimes I eat more than that. It does suppress my appetite but I eat out of boredom and emotional eating. I have heard this is a good drug for weight loss, what can I do to make it work better for me? Or does this mean it won’t work for me. I take the 37.5 once a day one hr before eating breakfast and I do walk about 3 miles three days a week. Can you please give me suggestions to speed this weight loss product? I am paying cash for it because my insurance will not cover it. I am 5’1 and now I weigh 169. please help me!
Mary

Subj: Lost 13 pounds but then
Date: 6/6/2007
I been taken phentermine off and on for the past 4 months. Took it 1 whole month and lost 13 pounds then the next month it didn’t work the same…I was getting hungry and not losing weight the same anymore so I took like 4wks off. Then went back to my Dr. and told him they weren’t working anymore. He changed to adipex (white with blue dots). They did work only at first but I got really bad side effects – I really didn’t notice it at first. I would get headaches…I’d get angry really quick, bad mood swings…so angry I started feeling tightness in the chest…well I almost finished that 3rd bottle when I decided to stop taking it. I have 7 and 2 1/2yr old and lately I been losing it with them – I felt really stressed out to the point where I just wanted to cry cuz I didn’t know how to handle the stress anymore! The last couple of days before I went to see my family Dr all I wanted to do was sleep all day… very tired w/out any reason at all.
So I went to my family Dr. and let her know about tightness in the chest that would last for hrs and the stress I been having w/my kids. She said it was effect of the pill combined w/my stress that was making my blood pressure rise and giving me that tightness in the chest. She also did an EKG and it came out fine to my surprise. My blood pressure was also normal. Which by the way it always has been. She didn’t say to stop taking but she said it was a high price to pay (health wise) to lose weight and was not worth it. I told her I had already stopped taking it. She prescribed ELAVIL {she said very small dose 10mg} once a day and only before bedtime to help relieve the tension I had. Well I been taking it for about 2 weeks and I do feel much better. I still get mad at my mischievous kids but I don’t get as angry as I use to -that I feel like I was about to have a heart attack. I still want to lose weight so I’m thinking about going to the Diet Dr. and let him know that pill was not working for me…and let him know that I’m taking Elavil…maybe it’ll be ok…or maybe not…! I will keep posted.

Subj: Get phentermine pills?
Date: 6/8/2007
I haven’t used this product. My aunt was the one that had told me about phentermine. I want to know if I would be considered eligible to take them. I am 21 years old. When I was 18 I weighed 145lbs. Now I currently weigh 235lbs. I am 5foot 7inches. I have no kids. If I am eligible, how would I ask a doctor to considered prescribing them to me? I am afraid to ask. For two months I tried a regular exercise routine, and ate healthy. I gained 5lbs and my pants didn’t fit anymore they were too small. I had to stop my routine and sure enough I lost the 5 lbs. and I was able to wear my pants again. I think I had made more muscle then I had lost fat. Please can you give me any suggestions on where or how I can get phentermine pills? Thanks for your time
Angie
AskDocWeb: Your BMI is 37 so all you have to do is to tell your physician that you want to try it. Once you have your prescription, you can buy Phentermine at your local pharmacy.

Date: 6/10/2007
I am 70 years old and have used this medication for 2 months. I have had a TIA about 5 years ago and now I feel a slight numbness at the tip of my nose and my top lip. Could there be a connection with phentermine. I have stopped using this until I hear from you. Thank you
Phyllis
AskDocWeb: The PDR says Phentermine should not be used by those with cardiovascular disease. Please discuss this with your doctor.

Subj: Left arm tingly and numb
Date: 6/13/2007
I’m on 37.5 but only taking 1/2 a pill a day. I haven’t been experiencing pain…but just a dull ache or ‘feeling’ in my heart and my left arm. My left arm also seems to be tingly and numb at times. When I do weight training, my left arm and shoulder seems to be much weaker then the right…and the muscles feel very tight in my left shoulder. My doc just says to drink more water. I’m taking baby asprin before I work out now b/c I’m paranoid. Pls. advise. Thank you.
Danee
AskDocWeb: You should know that a tingly/numb feeling in the left arm can indicate a heart problem. For your sake, please get a specific medical opinion about that numbness.
Subj: Wouldn’t recommend it
Date: 6/14/2007
My wife had been on phentermine for the last 3 years, on and off, she has gained all her weight once again when off the drug! She also never sleeps and has to wear sunglasses to keep the light out of her eyes. She lost her sex drive, she is always having her mood swings, and has nothing to do with me, also, she gets very bad headaches! I wouldn’t recommend no one taking this drug!

Subj: Gain weight back?
Date: 6/14/2007
Hi I been taking phentermine for 1 month already and I only lost 20 pounds. I just wanted to know if I decide to get off the medications am I going to gain weight back?
Yomayra
AskDocWeb: If you followed the weight loss program and changed your lifestyle then you won’t gain it back. That change in lifestyle means you learn to eat healthy and are getting more exercise. If not then it will come right back again.
Subj: Phentermine and armour thyroid?
Date: 6/20/2007
Hi- I’ve been using Phentermine 37.5 for about 7 months, and feel great on it. I am thinking about also taking armour thyroid at the same time. Do you know of any contraindications?
Jane
AskDocWeb: Armour thyroid is a replacement hormone for when your thyroid is either underactive, nonfunctioning, or has been all or partly surgically removed. The contraindications we found included hyperthyroidism. That’s when your thyroid is over active. Your doctor will have to decide if it is safe for you or not. Read more feedback from users.
