Subj: Already put 2 pounds back on
Date: 6/20/2007
I have used Phentermine for the past 2 months and have recently stopped (several days ago). My weight loss total was 12 pounds, however it was a lot on my part, cutting back on junk and doing a regular exercise program. If not for that I do not believe my weight loss would have been more than a few pounds. Since stopping the pills I have felt like a slug. All I want to do is sleep and I can barely function with my children and the summer tutor program I head up. I have put a call into my doctor today to see if I can be “weaned” from these pills as this is the only change in my life to explain the sluggish, lethargic feeling I am experiencing continuously now. Not only that, but I have already put back on 2 pounds!

Subj: Pregnant
Date: 6/21/2007
I just confirmed at my last doctor’s visit that I am pregnant. I have lost 20 lbs. using Phentermine 37.5. However, I have a fear of excessive weight gain. Is it possible for me to continue using Phentermine at a lower dosage or at the current dosage of 37.5?
Jacque
AskDocWeb: You will gain 25-30 pounds just being pregnant. The use of phentermine while pregnant should be determined by your doctor. It’s a category C drug and should not be used while nursing.
Answer update February 22, 2012Please note that the FDA has changed the pregnancy category for Phentermine from C to X because animal or human studies have shown that the risk of adverse effects on a fetus outweigh any benefit.
Subj: What should I expect?
Date: 6/28/2007
I have been on Phentermine for the past 10 months. The very first day, I noticed that Phentermine gave me the moment’s pause I needed to ask myself if I really wanted that additional food I found myself going for just before going to bed. I’ve gone from 194 to 148 to date. There are days I’ve skipped taking Phentermine to see what would happen to my appetite. There were 3 major contributors to my need to eat when I was both when I was taking Phentermine when I’d forgotten to take it that day: vegetable consumption, water consumption, and vitamin consumption. While taking the Phentermine I determined the following. The amount of vegetables consumer on that day, amount of water consumed that day, whether I’d taken the Phentermine on an empty stomach, whether I’d taken the Phentermine with at least 8 oz. of water upon rising and whether I’d taken multi-vitamins that day or not during the day determined how hungry I found myself as I was going to bed at night.
I will be ending my time with Phentermine after the next 13 pounds. At this point I am concerned about possible withdrawal symptoms from Phentermine. The tiredness makes sense and the moodiness. Is there anything I can do to help my body’s transition from using Phentermine to going without it besides exercise, lots of vegetables, lots of water and remembering to take my vitamins? What symptoms should I expect?
Cynthia
AskDocWeb: You have it pretty well covered. You may feel tired for awhile and might have some constipation but that should be about it.
Subj: For those who are thinking about Phentermine
Date: 7/1/2007
I have been on Phentermine off and on for the last two years. Here is what I suggest for those who are thinking about taking it. You have to be ready to change your unhealthy habits. This drug does over work your heart so take it seriously. On that note…. You can lose ALOT of weight. I lost 25lbs without working out. Instead, I ate small portions of healthy food (bodyforlife.com this program is amazing). I did get strong chest palpitations. But nothing came of it. Then 6 months went by and I lost NOTHING. Instead, I got moody and I felt wired. So then I got off for 8 months. Then I decided if I was going to do the drug again I was going to do it right. So, I did my portion control and healthy eating again, but this time I included cardio. I did 45 minutes of speed walking EVERY. If you are taking this pill.. elevating you heart rate is not that difficult. You can get to you max heart rate at a very brisk walk. Then I lost 32 lbs. in 7 weeks. I am currently lifting weights and doing cardio. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12. So, if you are willing to do this drug.. you should be willing to change your lifestyle as well. If you don’t change your life style then you are putting your heart at risk for nothing…. Because we all know what got us fat in the 1st place. Good luck and I hope this helped.

Subj: Phentermine and pregnancy
Date: 7/1/2007
I just want to know if I can be pregnant? I used to take phentermine for long time?
Eskedar
AskDocWeb: Phentermine does nothing to prevent you from becoming pregnant.
Subj: Results are fabulous
Date: 7/1/2007
I have used Phentermine off and on for about 4 years and the results are always fabulous. I recommend it to anyone who needs some assistance with their weight loss or weight maintenance. Combining Phentermine w/ a healthy diet and a fitness program will give almost anyone the results they are looking for w/ weight loss. I am life time member of Weight Watchers and do cardio and strength training 4x/week and at almost 40 years of age I look very young or so I am told… can pass for 29!

Subj: Phentermine cough
Date: 7/4/2007
I have been on and off of Phentermine for the last 3 or 4 months now. In the past I bought them off the Internet but recently talked to my doctor and she put me on a program. The one side effect I have is a constant cough. I was on an anti-depressant that made me gain 30 or so pounds and I need to lose it fast. I am now off of the anti-depressant meds and want to try and lose the 30 pounds before my wedding day in October. Is the coughing side-effect serious or can I just continue to take the pills until I lose my desired weight; or can this cause serious problems down the road? My doctor is on vacation for the next two weeks and I’d rather not stop unless I have to. Thank you very much.
Robin
AskDocWeb: The cough is bothersome to many people. It may or may not be a result of not drinking enough water.
Subj: What’s happening?
Date: 7/4/2007
Hi, I started taking phentermine last week. Within 3 days I lost around 6 pounds. I was well happy, but it has now began to stay steady for about 6 days. What’s happening? If you still eat fatty foods, e.g. Mac D would the pills still work? How much exercise do you have to do, if any? Please get back to me.
Shaz
AskDocWeb: Phentermine is designed to work with an exercise program and a change in your diet. In order to keep the weight off you will have to add those two things or the weight will return when you stop the pills. A 20 minute walk three times a week would be minimum. McDonalds is okay if you enjoy more of their salads.
Subj: Lost 25 lbs.
Date: 7/7/2007
I had been on Phentermine for almost 12 weeks and lost 25 lbs. The initial weight loss was the most dramatic and it slowed towards the later weeks. But with the help of Phentermine, I was able to shed all the pregnancy pounds I have been hanging onto for the last 5 years. Now off of the medication, I have the energy to continue creating results for myself both in exercise and good eating habits. I used this as a “boost” figuring if I was going to do it, I was going to do it right and it was key to changing my lifestyle but it I have to say I couldn’t have gotten these results and motivation without it.

Subj: Help me
Date: 7/9/2007
I started to take Phetermine 30mg since June 11, 2007 and tomorrow will be 1 month. I have notice some lose on the face and some inches but no weight lose. Is this normal? Help me please. I ask the Dr. to lift the mg to 37 and start Friday. Should I give up hope?
Mary
AskDocWeb: There is no reason to give up as long as you keep your goal in mind. You may or may not need the higher dose but be sure to eat for nutrition, count your calories and get your exercise. When you do that, you replace fat with muscle. Your weight can remain the same for a while but you are getting in better shape and improving your overall health.
Subj: Really bad dry mouth
Date: 7/11/2007
I have been taking Phentermine for a little over 3 weeks. I have lost about 12 pounds. The only problem I have had is really bad dry mouth. Which in return has helped me drink alot more water than I used to.

Subj: Difficulty breathing and heart palpitations
Date: 7/11/2007
I was taking 2 P-15 capsules throughout a day and recently had my afternoon dose increased to phentermine 30mg. 2 days after my first new dosage, I experienced difficulty breathing and heart palpitations. I continued the medication for 2 more days before connecting the time line. My Dr said it could be the new dose and to stop for a couple of days, otherwise I could have developed asthma. What is your opinion and can it start 2 whole days after my first dose or would it have started earlier? Also, how long, if it is the medication, before I should notice a difference? Other than this time, my previous 8 months of using the P-15 and proper eating habits has been wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks!
Kellie
AskDocWeb: Yes it can start 2 days or two weeks after you start a medication. You should notice a difference by the next day after stopping. Your heartbeat should return to normal and you should not have any difficulty with breathing.
Subj: Phentermine 37.5 mg tablets online
Date: 7/12/2007
I ordered phentermine 37.5 mg tablets online, and when my order came it was in silver pouch with phentermine sticker on the outside of it, but when I opened it they were dark blue and white gel capsules no writing on the outside of the capsule, with white powder inside. I am afraid to take them, because I have never seen this type before. Is there a phentermine 37.5 mg dark blue and white gel capsules. I need answer can you please me.
Patsy
AskDocWeb: Phentermine comes in strengths from 15 mg up to 37.5 mg and different colors, depending on the manufacturer. On the other hand, you have to be very careful of anything you order online because you don’t know what you’re actually getting. If you have any doubt at all then throw them out, your health may be at risk.
Subj: Dr says he can’t help me
Date: 7/14/2007
I’m considering taking Phentermine. I’ve 10-15 pounds to lose, but the “diet” Dr says he can’t help me because I don’t have enough to lose. He didn’t say if it was because I couldn’t be on the med long enough (therefore he wouldn’t make as much money off of me), or if this drug should not be used for smaller amounts of weight loss; neither of these dawned on me until later after I’d seen him and began thinking about what he’d said. So my questions are: can I take phentermine for a smaller amount of weight loss? Also I can get phentermine (fentermina) in Mexico without a prescription in 30mg form, is it required that one take Phentermine under a doctor’s supervision solely? Or can I just notify my Dr that I am wanting to take the Phen, or am taking it? Thanx,
Laura
AskDocWeb: No it’s not about the money, it’s because you don’t need it and should not be on it. Phentermine is not a casual diet pill, it is a powerful prescription drug and those who use it are required to be under a doctor’s care while on it. Read more feedback from users.
