Subj: Effects when stopping
Date: 8/2/2008
I am wondering about the typical effects when stopping this drug. How long of a break is recommended before taking Phentermine again? Thanks

Sondra

AskDocWeb: As far as we know there is no recommended time period for a break. Typically when the drug stops working an alternative is chosen.

Subj: Too much to quick
Date: 8/2/2008
My husband has been taking phentermine for the past three months and has lost about 40 lbs, which has been too much too quick, but in the last few days I have seen a drastic change in his behavior and mood. He really doesn’t seem like himself. Do you think that he should consult his doctor about this?

M

AskDocWeb: If it becomes a concern then yes.

Subj: So far I love this stuff
Date: 8/2/2008
I began taking Phentermine (37.5MG) on July 24, 2008. I got on the scale the other day and I only see about 3lbs gone, however, I feel the weight is coming off. I am 33 yrs and I train horses for a living, so I get plenty of exercise. I am very healthy, just over weight. My trouble areas are my tummy, thighs and behind. Like I said, there is not much decrease in poundage yet, but I KNOW it is working, my clothes are fitting BETTER! So far I love this stuff and the only side affects I have had are dry mouth and constipation. I am going to began an OTC stool softener such as Dulcolax or something and will report the results! Oh yea…my Dr. prescribed Phentermine along with giving me Magnesium Gluconate (500 MG), Chromium Picolinate, and 5-HTP (50 MG) – All seems to be working great! No Appetite!!

Hello I’ve just started taking phentermine 37.5 for about 4 days. On the first day my friend gave me one of her pills which made me a little spacy and talkative. I went to her doctor and he prescribed my medicine the same day but when I started taking those I did not experience any of the same symptoms. Do you think my medicine may not be working? We are both taking 37.5mg. Sometimes I feel a desperate need to eat and other times I feel like there is an empty space that needs to be filled. I don’t know if I’m tricking myself or if the pills are working.

Subj: Life changing experience
Date: 8/2/2008
In September of 2006 I started taking phentermine with the help of my very wonderful doctor. By the time the next September 2007 rolled around I had lost 75lbs. I think with the help of my doctor, phentermine, eating around 1500 calories and exercise I am a much healthier feeling person. It was a life changing experience and another thing that helped I recorded each day what I ate in a journal which I refer back to. I feel wonderful!!

Subj: Loving it
Date: 8/4/2008
I have been taking this pill for about 5 weeks now and I am loving it. I have lost 25lbs. The only side affect that I am having is constipation but alnog with that I have accured hemroids that bleed when I go to the bathroom. I am going to the doctors to see about having them removed and if this is normal. I went in on Friday to be weighed and I told the nurse what was going on and she told me to try some stoll softners, but I did lose 5lbs. Last week I went in and I only lost a quarter of a pound boy was I depressed, but it was ok espicially when they told me I have lost 5 lbs in one week. I watch what I eat and how much I eat. It helps if you serve yourself on a little plate that way you are sure you don’t over eat. You have to drink plenty of water.

Subj: Dry mouth and sleep problems
Date: 8/4/2008
I just started taking phentermine 3 days ago and so far it hasn’t been too bad (side effects). The biggest ones for me are dry mouth and not being able to sleep very well at night, but I’m told that should get better. I have noticed today though that I have muscle soreness, like if I worked out really hard at the gym. Is that normal? Also, I’ve read a few people on here say that they take their pill on an empty stomach…my Rx bottle says to take 2 hours after breakfast. Does it make a difference when you take it? Anyway, so far it’s going ok, lost 2-3 pounds already. let’s hope it continues with no problems 🙂

AskDocWeb: If you take it too late in the day it can cause insomnia.

Subj: Appetite increased
Date: 8/4/2008
I’ve been taking phentermine for 10 days now and my appetite has increased. Is that normal? Will it subside over time?

J

AskDocWeb: That is not normal and you should talk with your doctor about this. Your dosage may need to be adjusted or you may need an alternative weight loss product.

Subj: HORRIBLE INSOMNIA
Date: 8/6/2008
A couple of questions I would appreciate answers to: – I have only taken phen on about three occassion and took MUCH more than the recommended dose (3-5 tabs) of the 37.5 and had never taken it before…stupid I know. (not trying again…no worries) I had the typical side effects others mentions but seemingly more severe…thought heart would jump out of chest, sweats, HORRIBLE INSOMNIA, etc. The most alarming was that my tongue swelled and had a pretty bad reation in my mouth…however, before all this happened, the feelings of euphoria and super energy (organized my whole closet) were there…I then felt the awful SE of headache, depression, fatiuge… I was wondering if these negative side effects were from d/c and b/c I d/c so quickly or just a side affect of tolerance (which wouldn’t make sense b/c I had only used a bunch all at once. Also, any help at all with the insominia or do you just have to wear it off and how long does it take. Lastly, (again could have been due to the high dose) b/c I have NEVER had problesm with anxiety or anything relation but had these HORRIBLE sensations of paranaoia…to the point of thinking I was being followed and hearing thigns, etc…and like I said…Never had any of these problems. If anyone could shed some light I would greatly appreciate it!

Subj: I feel better than ever
Date: 8/8/2008
I’ve been taking Phentermine now since 01/04/08, I’ve lost almost 30 pounds and a full six sizes, and at 43yrs old, I feel better than ever, because I’m wearing things that I’ve never been able to wear b-4. The only side effect that I’ve had is dry mouth. I have a teen, and a 9yr old, so how I look/feel is very important 2 me.

Subj: The pain migrates all over
Date: 8/12/2008
I read someone’s comment about joint pain. I have been taking Phentermine since August 22, 2007. I have lost 60 lbs since then. I love it, but I can’t help but wonder if it is what has been causing my pain. Probably around February or March of this year is when it started. I’m not sure if it’s joint or muscle pain, all I know is it hurts very badly. The first time it started I had very bad pain in one of my knees. After 2 days it went away. A few weeks later, the pain turned up again, but this time it was in one of my arms. For the first few months of this happening, it would turn up at one location at a time with a few weeks of remission. Now, for the past month or two, the pain turns up in multiple places at once and I’m lucky if I get even a week of remission between pain attacks. Every morning when I wake up I’m so stiff until I get up and going. Or if I sit down for more than 30 minutes, I’m stiff when I first get up. The pain migrates all over– it’s been in the back and sides of both knees, wrists, the bottom sides of my feet, my lower and upper arms, elbows, shoulders, fingers, hands, and sometimes my hip area. I’m only 22 years old and sometimes I feel like I’m 80. Phentermine is the only thing different I’ve been taking during the time this pain began… but when I went to see my doctor, he said he didn’t know what could be connecting all my symptoms to each other?

Lindsey

AskDocWeb: Have you considered the possibility that the migrating pain might be a psychological response to something going on in your life?

Subj: This is working!
Date: 8/12/2008
I have been on Phentermine for 2 days and have already lost 4lbs! I had a baby 6 months ago and the energy it gives me is amazing! I am finally putting to use the jogging stroller because I have the energy for it now, and I think taking the pill makes me conscious of what I am eating, so I have cut up fruits and veggies to eat instead of chips! I am just so excited that this is working for me!

Subj: Shaky feelin
Date: 8/14/2008
I took for two months with no serious side effects lost bout 15 lbs. I stopped and started again but now I have experienced shaky feelin, shortness of breath and insomnia, my friend took it and went to ER for chest pain and shortness of breath…I really would not reccomend it if u care bout your health, Maybe no side effects now but u never know long term. I just hope I’m not too late and can get back to normal.

Subj: Memory loss
Date: 8/14/2008
I have been taking phentermine for going on two months. I’m experiencing short term memory loss as well. Should I be worried that this will be long term after I quit taking it. I’ve lost 20lbs.

Tanya

AskDocWeb: The only memory loss we’ve heard about has been short-term and temporary.

Subj: My body is overwhelmed
Date: 8/15/2008
When I take a whole phentermine, my body is overwhelmed, I take half an hour before my middle meal, I’ve lost 32 lbs, its taken me a while for I am diabetic and hyperinsulinemic, but it has helped greatly but my Dr says she wont give me any more for 90 days is enough…why would I feel overwhelm with a whole pill?

Dianna

AskDocWeb: It sounds like you are making good progress with just half a pill. You deserve a pat on the back for loosing 32 pounds, congratulations. Phentermine comes in strengths from 15 mg up to 37.5 mg. If you dosage is too strong then talk to your doctor about adjusting it.

Subj: How long will it take?
Date: 8/16/2008
I have been using Phentermine for about 3 weeks. I experience periods during the day that I break out in a really bad sweat and my face is flushed. I also am experiencing dizziness, headaches, nausea, tightness in my neck and shoulders and a full feeling in my ears. By the end of the day I feel so bad I can hardly hold my head up and nothing helps but laying down. I have stopped taking Phentermine today how long will it take to get out of my system so I will know if the Phentermine is the problem?

Carol

AskDocWeb: It may take up to a month to get the Phentermine completely out of your system after discontinuing. Read more feedback from users.
