Can I drink alcohol during (the time) I am taking procerin?
Mchoang
AskDocWeb: We found no mention of problems arising from drinking alcohol while taking Procerin. You should be just fine.
Subj: Truth about Procerin
Date: 8/13/2004
This product is pure snake oil. It doesn’t work. I tried it for 90 days and carefully looked at follicles in my bald areas. No change. I would like other men to know the truth. I asked and received my money back. Guess I’ll try propecia.
Tim
AskDocWeb: The truth is you tried it, it didn’t work for you, and when you asked for your money back, they gave it to you. Sounds like the company honored their money back guarantee.
Subj: Can’t take Propecia or Procerin
Date: 8/15/2004
I have tried Propecia on three different occasions. In each instance I had to quit using the drug after about three or four days. I became tired, fatigued and just felt terrible. As soon as I quit taking it, I was fine. I was looking forward to taking procerin because it did not contain finestride. I assumed I was allergic to this drug and it was the source of my problem. Unfortunately, the very same thing happened with procerin. After about two or three days, I became rubbery legged, fatigued and my symptoms were identical to propecia. I believe if my system could tolerate procerin, that it would stop my hair loss. The top of my scalp has a slight pinching sensation which is probably means that the DHT is causing my hair loss. I notice that when my scalp is sensitive like this, my hair loss is greater. I am 56 years old. I have been very slowly loosing hair since my early 20’s. In the past six months however, my hair loss has increased significantly.

Subj: Food supplements
Date: 8/16/2004
After reading a feedback, some one asked about food supplements to take with Procein. I read in the Times, that SOY SAUECE helps hairloss by blocking a chemical in the gut.

Subj: Hair growth in other areas
Date: 8/16/2004
I do not want to take Procerin if it promotes hair growth in other areas other then my head. Would there be a problem with that if I started taking Procerin
Donnie
AskDocWeb: No, we have not seen that problem and no one has reported anything like that.
Subj: Looking for help with hair loss
Date: 8/16/2004
I started to recede on my right side 9 months ago. I’m 20 years old and it has got worse, now it’s on my left side. What’s even worse is that my left side wasn’t bad at all then, all of a sudden in like a week, it got worse than my right side. I want to know if this is normal because if all that has happen in these months how will it look by the time I’m 25. On my mom’s side, all my uncles kept their hair well into there late 30s before considerable change. My dad didn’t start really until he hit his mid 30s. My brother has receded a bit and I used to notice it but now in these nine months I have caught up to him and passed him in terms of loss. I’ll be honest, I also have excessive hair growth on my body. Is there a chance I have a hormonal problem such as thyroid or another?. I notice that no one not my brother, dad, or uncles have this problem at all. Its been a depressive couple of years especially since the hair thing kicked in. Can you give me any advice or things to look into, or person to contact for help?
William
AskDocWeb: Let’s start with the easiest first. Pay attention to what you eat for a while. Are you eating a reasonably balanced diet? If you think you are not getting the nutrition needed to grow healthy hair, you might look into Advecia.
We know that stress is a factor with hair loss. If you are dealing with a lot of stress, you might consider taking a stress management course to learn new ways to cope with your stress.
Talk with your doctor about medications you are taking that could cause hair loss.
Some of the drugs that usually cause hair loss are:
- Adriamycin
- Cyclophosphamide
- Daunorubicin
- Docetaxel
- Etoposide
- Epirubicin
- Ifosphamide
- Irinotecan
- Paclitaxel
- Valproate
- Vincristine
- Vindesine
Drugs that sometimes cause hair loss:
- 5-Fluorouracil
- Amasacrine
- Bleomycin
- Busulphan
- Cytarabine
- Eszopiclone
- Lomustine (CCNU)
- Methotrexate
- Melphalan
- Mitomycin C
- Mitoxantrone
- Thiotepa
- Vinblastine
You could also get a physical to determine if there is a medical condition that is causing your hair loss.
Subj: Procerin and Rogaine
Date: 8/20/2004
Both Procerin and Rogaine are similar, right? Both Minoxidil driven.
U
AskDocWeb: No, they have different ingredients and work in different ways. Rogaine works to stimulate hair grow. Procerin works to block the formation of DHT, which is believed to inhibit hair growth.
Subj: Stopping and starting Procerin
Date: 8/21/2004
I have been taking Procerin for about 4 months and my hairloss has come to a halt and I’m even getting slight growth on my crown! My question is that I ran out of Procerin and wasn’t able to take it for about 3 weeks, I have just recently started back up taking it. If you quit taking it and start back up again will you still have the same effect? I’m afraid the Procerin won’t work anymore now that I didn’t take it for a while. Please respond, Thanks!
Paul
AskDocWeb: You may go through a 3 week period of increased hair loss but the effect it had before should return.
Subj: Doubly blessed
Date: 8/25/2004
My 17 year old son started using Procerin about 6 months ago. He had thinning hair and was beginning to go bald at the temples. He has reported that his hair is thicker and growing faster. A side benefit seems to be that his long standing acne problem has cleared up. I know that zinc is supposed to help acne, but he had already been taking zinc. Anyway, he has been doubly blessed.

Subj: Is Procerin safe?
Date: 8/26/2004
I just want to know if it is safe to take ‘procerin for hair’ I noticed that on the bottle that it is not approved by the FDA. That could just be because its a natural herbal supplement. I know that Procerin has Saw Palmetto and that it can enlarge my prostate. Is that True. Basically is it safe to use the product. Not asking if it works just rather will it make me worse off in other areas if I giver it try?
Mike
AskDocWeb: The FDA does not approve herbal supplements. Saw palmetto is used in the treatment of both prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition that affects the urinary system. Some men take it to shrink their prostate and keep it healthy.
Subj: Shedding
Date: 9/10/2004
I have been using Procerin for over 2-months, and I have noticed an increase in shedding around my temple and side areas. Should I continue with the product? If yes, will the shedding eventually stop and regrowth occur?
Steve
AskDocWeb: The question of shedding is part of what we hope to answer with our Procerin Study.
Subj: How long to take procerin
Date: 9/13/2004
How long (months/years) should one take procerin? I have taken 3 months worth and have another 3 to go, do I order more and take another 3-6 months or stop taking it? At the moment I have not noticed any great signs of hair growth!
Luke
AskDocWeb: If we let the number one hair loss product (Propecia) set the standards, then if you haven’t seen results at one year, you are not likely to see any. We have set our standard at six months. In our opinion, if you haven’t seen results at the end of six months, it is not worth continuing.
Subj: Very impressed
Date: 9/15/2004
I’m 24yrs old and have noticed a considerable decrease in hair thickness beginning about 3 yrs ago. I tried propecia for a yr w/no results. At least not noticeable. Same with the generic rogaine. However, I began using a mixture of procerin, revivogen, and the generic rogaine together 2 months ago and to my surprise have had awesome results. It’s thick, once again-and no joke either! If you think about, it makes sense to use a formula that prohibits dht build-up on the exterior(revivogen), procerin that prohibits dht from being produced, and then a formula to stimulate hair growth. I just thought I would write and recommend it. I’m very Impressed!
Casey
AskDocWeb: Sounds like you haven’t read the disclaimer page on Revivogen’s website.
Subj: Amazing results
Date: 9/27/2004

Subj: PowerPlus?
Date: 10/5/2004
can I use procerin and PowerPlus at the same time?
Brad
AskDocWeb: There seems to be several products with the name, PowerPlus. If you are talking about PowerPlus, the priming shampoo, we see no problem with using them together.
Subj: 3 months – Robert
Date: 10/16/2004
I am beginning my 3rd month on procerin and no one is aware of my use other than partner. Friends and Co workers are beginning to talk about my hair more as I have seen it begin to thicken and more growth. I am excited to see what 3rd month of use will bring. Keep you up to date.

Subj: Looking really hard for improvement
Date: 10/17/2004
I hope I’m not too late to join the study. I ordered Procerin and began taking it a week ago. I’m 23 and receding. There is a history of baldness in my family. Both grandfathers and all uncles. Two of my four brothers are bald on top. One is receding way back in an M shape and the other is happily thinning at a snails pace. All my brothers are in their 30s to 40s. I started at 22 with the ‘M’ pattern. In the past year I’ve lost an inch each side. It’s not totally gone but only about 20 – 30 normal hairs per square inch and very light week hairs on the scalp in the points of the ‘M’. From front to back I still have full dark hair but I can see my scalp through my hair which I never could before without combing to the side. On my scalp at the front only, under the remaining normal hair, I have a thick white scab. It’s like dandruff that has built up in layers without falling out. It hurts to pick it off and when I do it takes a clump of hair with it. When I look at what I’ve pulled out I see hairs stuck together with this stuff and the roots covered in it. It has receded back on my scalp along with the hairline. I’ve stopped picking. Oh, and picking didn’t cause my hairline to go back, I only did it two or three times.
Since starting procerin, the fine light hairs occupying the old hairline have darkened a little. That’s one week in. I’m hesitant on saying that because I could be excited and looking really hard for improvement. But I do THINK! they have.
The heavy ‘gunk’ on my scalp has definitely gone down. It lifts off after washing as it did before but comes back much lighter. I never checked before how many hairs fell in the shower but I will notice if there are less hairs on my pillow in the mornings. I’ll check this from here on.
Side effects, more frequent bowel movements but they are regular and not sudden or different, just about 20 percent more often. No headaches or upset stomach. I have also noticed being hungry slightly quicker after meals. I checked out the herbs in procerin a few weeks back and can remember one or two encouraged appetite.
Best of luck to those who’ve just started and thanks to the hardened users for offering feedback. I’ll come back with mine at the one month mark if the study hasn’t finished. I’ll take photos from this point.
