I am a 32-y.o. Hispanic man with a receding hairline and average hair loss, which I want to stop. 🙂

Walter

AskDocWeb: Welcome to the real world of hair loss. We know that Propecia works for most men but,
it has some possible side effects that have to be considered. It is expensive compared to Procerin, which we are currently looking at. Click here for our Procerin Study.

I’ve been taking Procerin in addition to some other natural supplements for about 2.5 months now and have noticed some growth coming in along my front hairline. So I’m going to stick with it. I would still like to know what this CJ-11 Factor and CJ-9 Factor are. Is it some kind of secret ingredient they don’t want anybody to know about? I wrote to the company about it but received no response.

Brian

AskDocWeb: We have not yet been able to find out what is in these CJ Factors.

Subj: mild hairloss
Date: 12/18/2003
I am a twenty year old male with very mild hairloss which consists of mainly the thinning of hair on the crown. I started taking procerin a week and a half ago. I would like to be as much help as possible.

Sajid

AskDocWeb: It would be helpful to have before and after pictures so that others can see what results you get. Also, check in once a month to let us know how things are going. Good luck.

Hi. You are doing a very good job. Thanks for the information. I am a 27 year old mother of a 1 year old child. I started loosing my hair when I was about 20 (androgenic alopecia). Until I had my baby I had a very little receding hairline and very thick curly hair. After having a baby within three months I lost almost all my hair this time all over my head (alpecia areata). Currently I am using essential oils but with very little results. Is there any other solution to my problem? thanks for your feedback.

Victoria

AskDocWeb: First, let’s check some easy solutions. Do you avoid using hair salon treatments that involve strong chemicals? Avoid physical stress on the hair shaft, like hair weaving? Have you seen your doctor to determine if there are dietary deficiencies associated with your hair loss?

One treatment for alopecia areata is the injection of cortisone-like medications into the scalp. An endocrinologist may help you manage this but, unfortunately, are not always effective. In the long term, taking cortisone-like medications orally does not help and can cause weight gain and other side effects.

There are a couple of books about women’s hair loss you might find useful:

The Truth About Women’s Hair Loss: What Really Works for Treating and Preventing Thinning Hair, by Spencer David Kobren and Angela Christiano, McGraw-Hill, 2000.

I have pcos and hair loss related to that .I have heard that ortho tri cyclen combined with saw palmetto will help. Please advice me.

Xyz

AskDocWeb: Please remember that we do product reviews and not medical advice. We have no data on the use of Ortho Tri-cyclen combined with saw palmetto but would welcome your feedback if you try this.

Subj: Saw palmetto for women?
Date: 12/21/2003
I am 27 year old woman loosing hair all over my head. For women is it safe to take saw palmetto. If yes, what is the dosage

Xyz

AskDocWeb: It may work for some women but the evidence is too limited to be sure. The dosage has not been established. Many men are taking 1500mg daily.

Subj: Standardized extract?
Date: 12/21/2003
Does anyone know if the 1500mg of Saw Palmetto used in Procerin is the standardized extract? I sent the manufacturers an email but didn’t get a reply. I doubt if it is the extract form since it would have been a good selling point for them to mention it in the list of the ingredients.

Date: 12/21/2003
How much would a 6 month supply cost outside the US, and would I be able to get it?

William

AskDocWeb: Not sure about the cost or what the conversion rate is for your country(?), but as for your being able to import it, call your local Customs department. They should be able to tell you.

Subj: urban legends?
Date: 12/23/2003
I am a 22 year old male with extremely thin hair. I have been losing my hair slowly over the past four years. I know DHT is the biggest cause of hair loss, but I would like know if wearing a hat is a cause. I have also heard (but not from a legitimate source) that frequent masturbation over a long period of time can cause it too. Are these facts or just “urban legends?” I have been taking procerin for about a month now with no signs of improvement. Could wearing my hat be limiting my success with procerin?

A 22 year old male

AskDocWeb: If wearing a hat would cause hair loss then by the same “logic” we wouldn’t have any hair under our arms, on the chest, legs, etc. Both are urban legends.

Subj: Balding sucks
Date: 12/23/2003
I’m getting a dosage of procerin now, I will keep u guys updated, balding sucks, worse thing that can happen.

Paul

AskDocWeb: Let’s keep our perspective here. While balding does suck for some, there are people dying of cancer, ALS, etc. that would gladly trade conditions with you.

Subj: Is this normal?
Date: 12/24/2003
I started using procerin about a week ago and I think I am losing more hair than before. I am only 18 and still have almost all of my hair. I’m willing to keep people posted on my situation but I was just wondering if anyone else here using procerin is experiencing the same thing as me. I’ve noticed the increased amount of lost hair in the shower where I am getting about 20 hairs every time I shower as compared to around 10 from before. Is this normal that’s all I want to know? I’m going to stick with procerin until it really starts getting bad, hopefully it never does. I’ll keep you all posted.

Anthony

Subj: Pros and cons
Date: 12/25/2003
I have been using Procerin for three months now. I have noticed some pros and cons. Prior to taking Procerin, I had high numbers of hairs falling out every day…I would estimate 30 to 40 hairs a day! After taking Procerin, I noticed a loss five to ten hairs a day…the normal number. I have noticed that my hair feels thicker, looks shinier, and my receding hairline has slowed down dramatically.

As far as regrowing hair is concerned…I think not. I have yet to see regrowth. If this product is anything like Propecia, users may need to use it for one to two years to see the true results, as the hair needs to go through its “cycles” before you see hair regrowth and thickening.

On the down side, I have seen some continued recession in my frontal hairline on the right side of my head. I have not seen any further recession on the left frontal hairline. I have occasionally experienced an upset stomach which subsides with ingestion of food. So far, the product has seemed to work. For the price (approx. $120 for a six month supply), this product seems to be worth the money. I will reorder again when I get down to my fifth bottle. I would like to hear from someone who has been using it since November 2002.

Hope this helps.

Mark

I am already 2/3 bald at the age of 53. Does it work on me to take procerin?

Stephen

AskDocWeb: We have one study volunteer who is 52 in your situation (2/3s bald), who is very happy with his new growth so, yes, it may be worth trying.

Subj: Euphoria?
Date: 1/3/2004
I just started taking Procerin over the past few days. I do have some concern surrounding
a lack of focus about 30 minutes to 2 hours after I take the product. Is there any evidence
or stories of people feeling a slight sensation of “Euphoria” (For lack of a better term), or a lack of focus such as when I’m reading?

James

AskDocWeb: Thanks for letting us know. We will watch for other reports of this.

Subj: Concerned about cj factors
Date: 1/11/2004
Hi, I’m 22 years old and have a receding hairline and thinning at crown. I am just about to order a 3 month supply of procerin but am concerned with the cj11 and cj 9 factors as I can’t find any info on them and just hope they don’t cause hidden side effects. Have you any idea what these ingredients are or can you find out please? Thanks for your help.

Arthur

AskDocWeb: Not sure if those cj factors are still in their formula. They are not listed in the ingredients on the bottles we purchased in December, 2003. Looks like they have removed the Yohimbe too. There were some problems with shipping Yohimbe internationally.

Subj: Any critical side effects?
Date: 1/14/2004
Does saw palmetto has any side effects, like propecia, including: Decreased libido, decrease in the amount of male sperm, or any other critical side effects that can make it not safe to use. Thanks.

Yaron

AskDocWeb: Those are questions we are asking in our Procerin study.

Subj: HGH and Procerin
Date: 1/15/2004
I have just ordered a 3month supply of procerin and I am also in a weight training gym and taking a supplement which contains creatine whey-protein and a claims to boost human growth hormone. Can you advise me if the two products can be used together please, thanks.

Arthur.

AskDocWeb: Not sure which supplement you are talking about, but so far there hasn’t been any feedback about Procerin use with other supplements. You could help by letting us know how this works out for you.

Subj: Reduced sex drive
Date: 1/22/2004
Has anyone ever reported a diminished sex drive or ER from taking procerin. Is there any link between reducing the body’s DHT by any means and the reduced sex drive?. It seems to have happened to me and before I quit taking procerin I want to know. Maybe it is only one ingredient my body cannot formulate, very frustrating on my end.

Greg

AskDocWeb: We recommend getting a physical to find out if a medical condition has developed that could be causing you problems. There are a number of physical and psychological events that can change our sex drives. Taking Procerin may or may not be related. It would be great if you would share your findings with us after your physical.

Subj: Foods to help regrow hair
Date: 1/24/2004
I have been taking Procerin for about a month and it seems to be working. I just wanted to know what kinds of foods should I be eating to help the regrowth of my hair?

Adam

Subj: African American trying Procerin
Date: 1/25/2004
I have been using the procerin product for 2 1/2 months now. I have noticed new hair growth. Someone wrote wanting to know if any African American were trying this product. “Yes”. I now see hair regrowing on the crown of my head and on top as well. I started losing hair 12yr ago and, I now wear a hair piece. I noticed hair growth each time I have my hair serviced. I have reordered another 3 months supply, and hope to have most of my hair regrow within 1 year. It looks like I have a winner here. I will keep you posted about the next 3 months results.

Ed

Subj: Curios about Procerin
Date: 1/25/2004
Great site. I am 26 and started thinning out at 24. I am currently taking Propecia and am curios if Procerin is really worth trying or is it like so many of these other ripoff remedies. Will it maybe earn the credibitliy of Rogaine and Propecia?

Larry

AskDocWeb: Thanks Larry. The feedback we are getting on Procerin does suggest it is for real. We are reserving judgement to see the results of our Procerin Sudy.

Subj: Propecia didn’t help
Date: 1/26/2004
I’m 23 my hair loss started 10 months ago. The propecia didn’t help (7months). Would Procerin make a difference if Propecia didn’t help?

Plz write me back to ?????@?otmail.com

Yoni

AskDocWeb: Sorry Yoni, we don’t have time to email everyone who writes us. Since Procerin has a 90 day money back policy, you can safely try it and find out if it will work for you.

Subj: Saw palmetto for women?
Date: 1/27/2004
Is saw palmetto safe for women for hair loss? Please let me know.

AskDocWeb: We know that some women are trying this, although we haven’t heard what their results
have been. We would be glad to have your input.

Subj: Procerin with Revivogen?
Date: 1/30/2004
Is it possible to use Procerin and Revivogen at the same time period? They both are DHT blockers but I was wondering if it is better to use them both since the one is topical and the other one is a pill.

Chris

AskDocWeb: (Revised 5/24/07) If you are considering Revivogen, please read the disclaimer page on Revivogen’s website first.

Subj: Tremendous hair loss
Date: 1/30/2004
Hi, I am about to order my first batch of Procerin. I am 24 and have started to see tremendous hair loss (I knew it was coming one day) lately, so before I actually see a spot I want to take something that can keep my hair (don’t care about regrow much yet). Hopefully this will do what it says it does. I am curious if Brian (wrote on 12/8/2003) has sent any follow ups? He should be on his second to third month of use now! 🙂

Subj: Procerin
Date: 12/31/2003
I just purchased a 3 month supply of PROCERIN. I had beautiful thick hair about 5 months ago and have started thinning severely across my head. It really is taking a toll on my self esteem. Wish me luck. I started taking it on Dec. 12…now going on week 3.

Subj: Sexual side affects
Date: 1/7/2004
I’m 20 years old and I am experiencing rapid hairloss, especially a receding hairline. I used to have a full head of hair and am very depressed about this. I don’t want to take anything that will give me sexual side affects cause lets face it some things are more important than others. Will Procerin affect my sexual health?

Zach

AskDocWeb: We are doing a study to find the answer to that question, along with others. Check back in July. We plan on publishing the results then. Read more feedback about Procerin
