2 months in using Procerin
Date: 12/13/2011
I’m 25 and am experiencing a receding hairline and ever so slight thinning at the back but you wouldn’t notice just from looking at me as my hair has always been thick. I’ve been using procerin for 2 and a half months so I’m currently midway into my third duo pack (procerin tabs & xt foam) an I must say that now (2 months in) my hair does appear to look more full and feel thicker and I can even see tiny think black hairs (5 or 6) at the temples that could well be from procerin, its nothing to write home about but surely its a positive thing? I will say though however that I’ve been using alpecin shampoo and hair energizer in conjunction with procerin and I can’t recommend that enough because it really makes your hair feel and smell great and Its helped turn the count of hairs i used to get from washing my hair from like 9-15 down to about 3-4. Anyway that’s my experience and I shall continue to use and let you know how I’m getting on.

Jonathon

AskDocWeb: Thanks for the report Jonathon. Welcome to the forum. If you don’t mine our asking, since you are in the UK, what does the alpecin shampoo cost?

Cost of alpecin c1 shampoo
Date: 12/14/2011
The alpecin c1 shampoo is about 5 pounds and the hair energizer is around 7 pounds so thats only £12 in total and it seems to last more than just a month but thats taking into account my hair is short.

Jonathon

AskDocWeb: Thanks again.

Alpecin
Date: 12/16/2011
Off topic alpecin really look like a good product! But somehow way too expensive for anyone that live in Canada / USA… only website I found that carry and ship them to Canada would cost me 85$ total for 6 bottle shipped to my door + border fees so not less then 100$!

Procerin and XT foam
Date: 12/18/2011
I just order three month supply of procerin tablets. Can that alone help regrow my hairline an the crown area an i will be ordering the xtfoam serum in three weeks so if i took the tablets for quite some time an just started using the xtfoam serum will it be bad?

Jimmy

AskDocWeb: Using the XT foam after taking Procerin for any length of time is likely to increase the chances of regrowing hair. However, men have also reported hair growth with just the pills alone.

Nate at 2 weeks
Date: 12/20/2011
I have been taking procerin for about 2 weeks now and I think I’m going through initial shedding. Also, I’m using Nioxin system as well to increase results. My scalp does feel cleaner, but guess I will have to wait to see the hair replenish it self with 2 to 3 months.

Nate

AskDocWeb: Hi Nate. Are you also using the Procerin XT serum or just the pills?

Nate continued
Date: 12/23/2011
Thanks for your response! No…. I decided not to use Procerin XT since the Nioxin Scalp Activating treatment does the same thing and I have that it may cause conflict. I’m really serious about maintaining my hair line. I think my hair loss was triggered due to stress, but I’m trying to stabilize it. It is scary to see my hair thin out though….

Nate

AskDocWeb: Thanks for clarifying that Nate. When you catch yourself worrying about it, remember that worrying only adds to the stress. Good luck!

Hair growth around hairline
Date: 12/25/2011
I had been on procerin for a week I had started it Tuesday 12/20/11 now its Sunday 12/25/11. I’ve been taking the pill alone an I’m starting to get little white hair around where my hairline where it use to be an I have been reading people results an they say it takes up to two weeks or three to seven months to show signs but is this a sign that its working for me? Plus my hair is still in growth phase can the pills alone can do that?

Jimmy

AskDocWeb: In our opinion it is too soon to tell but it does sound encouraging. Looking forward to your future posts about this.

Taking Procerin
Date: 1/2/2012
I’ve been on it for three weeks it seems to work but let me ask you this, I usually take it at 7 am then take it 10pm an I happen to miss the time to take it at 10 PM an took it at 12, will it effect me in a bad way or its not a problem?

Jimmy

AskDocWeb: Taking it a few hours off from your regularly scheduled time does not have any adverse effect. As long as your daily amount totals up to what it should be you are okay.

Foligain pills?
Date: 1/9/2012
I’m wondering if foligain pills would be better then procern since it have beta sitosterol added to the saw palmetto that procerin use.. and so much more then procerin? Have you heard anything about those pills?

David

AskDocWeb: Sorry David, we don’t have any data on the Foligain pills or capsules other than that they are formulated to treat gray hair.

Belgravia Centre in London
Date: 1/27/2012
Hi am 22and I have been suffering a deep receding hairline at the temples for 2 years now, and it appears to be speeding up. I started taking procerin 2 weeks ago and haven’t noticed any positive effects yet, although it is hard to tell (obviously in the short time frame) but I will keep you guys posted as I will be taking pictures every 3 weeks. Anyway, I wanted to ask, how do I know which sites to trust on hair loss advice. There are so many are out there and I feel many are just scam me or mis-inform me to sell there product. Also, what is your opinion of the Belgravia centre in London? as I’m talking to a tricologist there in a few days.

Jack

AskDocWeb: Have you consulted with a doctor or dermatologist to determine the cause of your hair loss? We would rule out medical causes like thyroid problems, PCOS, Lupus, etc. before choosing a product for hair loss.

Finding out who you can trust can save you a lot of time and money. To help you do that we put together a page called Hair Loss Scams. You have to keep your critical thinking on high alert when reading new websites. Do they give you good advice, or not? For example generic Propecia has been offered for sale on the Internet for many years. However they do not mention that the patent for Propecia doesn’t run out until 2013 and you could be buying illegal copycat drugs made in other countries.

On that negative note we turn to trichologists. We are skeptical about them in general. In the USA anyone can call their self a trichologist without any training. Is the one you are going to consult a medical doctor or a dermatologist? It doesn’t hurt to ask. At least a dermatologist could rule out medical causes for your hair loss. If they recommend Propecia but fail to tell you about the possible sexual side effects, that should be a big red flag.

Hey. Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen my doctor and have had blood tests for thyroid issues and been given the all clear so I assumed I was safe to start on hair loss pills. The Trichologists at Belgrvia Centre, London are supposed to be the best in Europe (according to their website and certain newspaper articles) and their consultations are free with no obligation so I’m just looking for advice from an expert to be honest.

I’m slightly worried they may try to scare me about my hair condition to make be start treatment with them but hopefully this wont happen. On another note, on viewing my hair closely yesterday there are many small dark hairs growing all along my hairline, which I hope is a good sign that it is starting to work. However I have also continued what I think is ‘shedding’, and I hope this will stop soon. I’ve also been trying to maintain a healthier diet and to shampoo alot more gently. Is there any other tips you could recommend to overall improve my success chances? Thanks again for the help.

Jack

AskDocWeb: It is normal to lose some hair every day. You will see estimates for normal that range between 50 and 150 hairs per day. Personally I think the ones who say that losing 50 a day is normal are just trying to sell you something because most people lose more than that.
