Should I make the switch?

Hi, I have been using Procerine for almost a year now. My hair line has started to grown back in very slowly. However, I have noticed that even though my hairline has started to look better, my hair has started to thin now. I also started using Nisim shampoo and I have noticed some difference in thickness. I was wondering if switching to Provillus would give me the results I wanted. I know that it contains minoxidil while Procerine does not. Should I make the switch?

After taking the first 3 month supply

Hey again. I’ve finished off my 3 months supply, slightly ahead of three months due to me taking 4 pills a day instead of 3 for roughly a week. Photos taken every two weeks show a slight decrease in hair line at the temples, although I stress it is hard to judge as my hair is longish and thick in most of the pictures. Closer inspection of the hairline at the temples shows that roughly 1/5 of the small hairs that I noticed growing early on have grown longer than 10mm,the rest have remained as peach fuzz, but are still dark in colour.

The hairline at the front however seems to have grown many brand new hairs, 5 of which I have identifies as growing half a centimetre down from the hairline, which is very weird but encouraging! I’m unsure if my overall thickness has improved, I do feel I am thinnnig slightly in places. My hair on the crown however defiantly feels and looks healthier.

The pro’s of this product for me were : no negative side effects except slight shedding towards the start; easy to take, especially with food; the price isn’t bad; hair line growth and re-growth at the front and slightly at the temples; possible slowing of hairloss, but this is hard to tell with my hair type and time frame. The negative aspects would be shedding which I feel must be common, and also my beard hairline has risen significantly up my cheeks haha! Also it does concern me that there’s alot of conflicting ideas about what saw palmetto can do to the body, and if it actually works. Personally I feel this product at least slightly slows the hair loss process, and I will keep taking it for another three months, OR switch to Provillus which sounds slightly better.

Note: I have been using Alepecin shampoo for 1 month now which I do recommend, and also ‘Hair Vitalics’ from the Belgravia centre, which also contain 300mg of saw Palmetto per 4 tablets (daily amount) along with other nutrition beneficial to hair. Sorry for the length of this post. I really hope it helps other people in some way and also helps this site. Thanks for your feedback in the past.

After stopping the treatment?

How long would I have to use porcerin before I can be confident that I won’t lose my hair after stopping the treatment?

AskDocWeb: Sorry Gordon, it doesn’t work that way. That would be a cure and currently there is no cure for hair loss. There are only treatments and the treatments are only effective as long as the products are used continuously. When the product is discontinued, your hair loss resumes. In order to keep the benefits you have to keep using the product. This is true for all of the products on the market for hair loss.

At 3 weeks

Hi, It’s been only 3 weeks i am using procerin. I have not seen any changes in my hair and hair fall is almost same. I have question regarding procerin: 1. These days my fallen hairs are white from root and 2/3 is black. Is it process of procerin? Does it means its working? how long should i wait to see result.

AskDocWeb: At 3 weeks we would not expect any kind of result. We recommend giving it at least 3 months before assessing how well it might be working.

Sexual side effects

Does Procerin cause any undesired sexual side effects such as the ability to not maintain an erection? I’ve been taking it for 1.5 months now and it seems to be affecting my sex drive…

AskDocWeb: Over the past 9 years there have been six reports of sexual side effects from those using Procerin. Three men reported a decrease in libido and three men reported an increase in their libido. That is too small a sample to conclude anything but it is doubtful that it has any sexual effect.

After stopping

Hi, I am using the procerin for last two weeks. Will it cause more hair loss after stopping this product??? I heard that if you stop any hair loss product then you will suffer the complete hair loss. Is it true for the procerin also???

AskDocWeb: There are a lot of myths about hair loss. Losing all your hair after discontinuing a hair loss product is one of them. While it is true that, if the product was effective and you discontinue it, you lose the hair that the product caused to grow but not all your hair. That temporary increase in hair loss after discontinuing takes place over several months until you are back where you were when you started using it.

Considerable improvement, however

I have been using procerin for about 18 months now and have noticed considerable improvement in the hairline and natural strength/thickness of my hair. However, I have also had a vast increase in grey hairs (long, not short new ones) that concerns me. I am 23 and have two brothers (one I who resemble quite a lot, and another who is the spit of my father), neither have experienced any kind of greying although my father was slightly grey by about 30. I am wondering whether any of the ingredients in procerin are affecting the pigment in my hair. I have a berocca multi vitamin tablet each day and question whether I’m taking too much of one vitamin/mineral that is present in both procerin and berocca? Please let me know what you think.

AskDocWeb: Since your father was graying by age 30 you may be starting some premature graying. Some people start to gray in their early 20’s or 30’s. If that is the case then there is one consolation, your gray hair may look the same when you are older as it did in your 20’s or 30’s. Some examples of that are Taylor Hicks from American Idol or Steve Martin, the comedian.

Scientists believe that the onset of gray hair in some humans is controlled by genetics. Based on research cited in the “Journal of Investigative Dermatology Symposium Proceedings, gray hair affects 18% of people by age 25 and 60% of people by age 35. It is uncertain whether it comes from the mother’s side, the father’s side or both, but it appears that a family history of early graying increases the chance that you may be affected by it as well.

In 2008 researchers discovered that normal hair follicles naturally produce small amounts of hydrogen peroxide. The body usually breaks down the hydrogen peroxide but over time that function slows down allowing the hydrogen peroxide to build up resulting in bleaching of the hair and the death of melanocytes. Melanocytes are the cells responsible for color in the hair and skin.

Skin disorders such as tuberous sclerosis, Waardenburg syndrome and vitiligo, along with thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto’s disease and Grave’s disease, can also reduce the level of catalase in the body. Without normals levels of this enzyme, hydrogen peroxide accumulates and kills melanocytes, resulting in less hair pigmentation and gray hair.

One possible cause of gray hair is something that is easy to check and that is a nutrient deficiency. It is known that a lack of vitamin B12 can interrupt normal hair cell development and cause the hair to turn gray. People who follow a strict vegan diet are at increased risk of graying from this cause. To fix this, consider starting a vitamin B12 supplement. If the graying continues after a month then you can assume it is not caused by a vitamin B12 deficiency.

It is funny how the various hair products work or not with different individuals. I failed miserably with one product that a friend had great success with. Later I found moderate success with a completely different product. There is no rhyme or reason, all one can do is their research and try to pick out what may work best for you.
