Subj: Increased liver enzymes
Date: 5/17/2004
I recently read a post from a 62 year old man saying his doctor said he had increased liver enzymes. I had recently been to the hospital for some tests and they told me I had Gilberts disease which is an increase in the bilirubin levels in the liver. There are no adverse consequences from this disease but I had not heard this before and maybe it is due to procerin.

Joe

AskDocWeb: Gilbert’s Syndrome is often referred to as Gilbert’s disease (although it is not a disease but rather a condition). It is a benign but chronic disorder characterized by a rise of unconjugated serum bilirubin levels. This is caused when the processing by the liver of the pigment bilirubin slows down. It is usually discovered during routine blood tests to rule out liver disease or hemolysis (accelerated destruction of red blood cells). Gilbert’s Syndrome is not dangerous and probably does not go away. The liver remains normal and according to medical experts, it cannot cause any problems. No treatment is required for Gilbert’s Syndrome. People with Gilbert’s Syndrome have a normal life expectancy and there is no evidence that the disorder is associated with other serious liver diseases. It is quite common and thought to be present in up to 5% of the population. The cause of Gilbert’s Syndrome is not known and it seems very unlikely that Procerin would be the cause.

Subj: Alcohol with Procerin?
Date: 5/18/2004
Is taking procerin while drinking or have been drinking alcohol harmful in anyway?

Christopher

AskDocWeb: Other than the risk of upsetting your stomach, not that we know of so far.

Subj: Hereditary?
Date: 5/19/2004
I am a 17 year old male, and my hair has been gradually receding at the temples from about the age of 15. My hair has receded back about an inch on each side. Both my grandfathers are balding, but my father isn’t. His hairline, at 49, is identical to what mine is now. Does my hair loss sound simply hereditary, or like a different medical condition, and is there any solid feedback yet on whether procerin actually stops hairloss and/or regrows hair? Will it work for me?

Andrew

AskDocWeb: While your hair loss sounds hereditary, we believe it is a good idea to get a medical opinion (a physical exam) before you rule out medical causes. Check back next month (July) for our initial assessment of Procerin.

Subj: 3 products
Date: 5/21/2004
I have just started on propecia and procerin. I have used Rogaine for the past 5 months and have not seen any real results. I am 24 and have a receding hairline so I’m hoping that all 3 products together can help me.

Subj: Sex drive
Date: 5/21/2004
I think this product has taken away my sex drive. Is this possible? I’ve been off it and I had more of a “drive” so when I bought another 3 months in, I’ve already noticed within a month that my drive is no longer present. Is this possible?

Billy

AskDocWeb: Yes, it is possible and the opposite has also been reported. We’ll give you the details next month.

Subj: Some research
Date: 5/22/2004
I’ve been doing some research online and have found 2 different sights claiming that Procerin is a completely fraudulent product without any scientific evidence to back their claims of regrowing hair. Do you know if this is true or is it more likely a disgruntled customer that didn’t have any luck with the product? Thanks,

Erick

AskDocWeb: We know that the above is false because we have seen first hand results. We will have details for you mid-July.

Subj: Article on another website
Date: 5/22/2004
This web site generally contains a very positive review of Procerin. Indeed, back in March 04, when I read your web site’s analysis of the product, I, trusting the site’s recommendation, purchased it. I am however aghast to have read that Procerin has been adjudicated to be a fraud by the well known and ostensibly independent web site. (Hairlosstalk) They have written an article which claims to expose various lies made by the Procerin distributors and manufacturer. As an attorney I am very curious to understand why this product is still being flaunted on your web site – are (they) wrong?

AskDocWeb: Procerin is here because we want to know more about it. We haven’t made up our mind about it yet so we are doing a study to get the opinion of men who actually use this product.

[time out from product reviews]
Yes, Hairlosstalk is wrong on many counts. There are so many things on that website that we know to be false, they will be lucky if they don’t get taken to court. Up until now we have ignored them because of the low quality of information and misinformation they publish.

The individual that runs Hairlosstalk seems to occasionally lose touch with reality. When we looked at his site, he was presenting the products of his imagination as if they were facts. His proof was what he previously wrote on his website. We have a problem with that kind of reasoning. It reduces credibility.

He did write us a nasty letter, and after checking out his website, we ignored it. Because we didn’t respond, he says that was proof our website was owned by the maker of Procerin. (It is not!) That kind of reasoning reduces his credibility.

When he publishes lies about our website (he says all the posts here are fake), isn’t that doing what he is accusing others of doing (lying)? That kind of thing reduces his credibility.

This guy seems to have hateful grudge against Procerin, with which he admits to having no first hand experience. Hairlosstalk looks like a distributor for Procerin’s competitors. It’s no surprise that they sell hair loss products. And of course they want you to buy from them rather than their competition.

Some people do get carried away when they talk about their competitors. Hairlosstalk seems to have taken this to an extreme. There is already a complaint going through the California Attorney General’s office. If anything in this reply doesn’t make sense, it is probably because they removed the misinformation from their website. We’ve wasted enough time on them.

Subj: 6th week
Date: 5/24/2004
Update time. I have been taking procerin for a little over a month now. Results, I’m not too sure of. During the first month, my hair shedded like never before and made it look worse up front and on the vertex. I am now into my 6th week and the shedding has slowed or is minimal, and my hair seems to be getting fuller again and has a different texture. I am also taking rogaine extra strength too (3rd week) which they say will do the same thing, get worse before it gets better. I will post something new on the end of the second month. Also I have tried e-mailing speedwinds again to try to get some information on what we should expect month to month, I have tried this before, but I recieved no answer.

Subj: Advice?
Date: 5/24/2004
Hey, how are you?. I have used a 6 month supply of avacor and seen minor results. I am over a month and a half into procerin and seen very little results. It seems like more hair is being lost. Maybe you can give me some good advice.

Nicholas

AskDocWeb: We don’t have anything for you at this time. Check back mid-July.

Subj: Shedding
Date: 5/25/2004
My husband started to take Procerin almost a month ago, and I noticed that he is shedding more than before. I read some of the others’ comments that shedding is normal in the beginning. How long should my husband expect the shedding last? I really hope Procerin will work for him. I will keep you posted and hope it will help my husband and others.

David’s wife

AskDocWeb: How long the shedding lasts is one reason we are doing our study. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Subj: No results
Date: 5/25/2004
HI!! It’s been 2.5 months since I started taking PROCERIN and still NO results. I’m still half way to be completely bold. I called customer service and they said that it does not work for everybody. SO, what does work for me then? Thank you

Abed

AskDocWeb: We are building a list of hair loss products that you might want to take a look at. If you find anything else that works, let us know and we will add it to the list.

Subj: Information from procerin
Date: 5/26/2004
I have finally received some information from procerin. Unfortunately, it contradicts what other people are saying (Including myself)

JT

From Procerin on “shedding”

There should be no “shedding” period associated with Procerin. Have you recently discontinued other supplements? Have you changed shampoos etc… Procerin does NOT cause further hair loss, that would be quite counterproductive.

Thank you,

support@procerin.com

AskDocWeb: Thanks, JT, we appreciate your sharing this. As you know, we report the experience of real users, not just what “should” or “shouldn’t” happen. That is one of the main reasons why people find value in this website.

Subj: Help
Date: 5/29/2004
I have been taking procerin for a month now and have noticed no gain, but three times more hair falling out. This is not an exaggeration. Also, if I itch my head or pull on my hair even just a little more hair falls out with white things attached. I am guessing these are the roots. I am also getting dandruff worse then I have ever had it, especially around my hairline where I am losing most of my hair. However, I am not sure if this is from procerin or something else (maybe weather). Will the hairs that have the white things on the end grow back? Also, has anyone else experienced any dandruff? I just turned 21 and will try anything to stop this process but I don’t want to risk an even more rapid loss. Can you please suggest wheather I should continue using this product or not, thank you. FYI – I have been using nioxin shampoo and a topical cream since I was about 18. This may have some reverse effects when used with procerin but I doubt it.

Christopher

AskDocWeb: We suggest you use an 18 inch strip of tape once across the center of your pillow when you wake up in the morning. Count the number of hairs it picks up and this will give you a point of reference, a way to quantify your hair loss. Now you can stop the Procerin for a month and find out what happens. If your hair loss increases you can start again.

Subj: Propecia AND procerin
Date: 5/30/2004
Is it possible to use Propecia AND procerin at the same time? Would this be bad for you?

John

AskDocWeb: While it’s possible to use them at the same time, we do not recommend it. One may have unacceptable side effects. If you took them at the same time, how would you know which one produced the side effects?

Subj: 1 month – Kevin
Date: 6/6/2004
I have been taking Procerin by itself for a month and have noticed no results. Upon asking my doctor if he had heard anything about the pills or saw palmetto in general, he told me that if you start using a DHT deterring product while in your shedding phase, it actually speeds up the shedding phase because it’s the body’s initial response to a change in the hair folicle. You’re not supposed to be in the shedding phase for long, but by the time we all come out of a sped up shedding phase we have a significant amount of hair gone and the growth phase has to catch up which takes about three times as long. Most men in their maturity grow only about .10mm in hair length every 5-7 days. Saw palmetto DOES and has been known to stop phase 1 of DHT conversion. But my doctor also said that people who are losing their hair also go through an inflamation phase. This happens when your body starts to naturally attack the hair folicle due to phase 2 of the DHT effect. He told me that if I was to take procerin or any other Saw Palmetto berry content I should use it in conjunction with a anti-inflammatory lotion around the frontal hairline or a line of shampoo and hair care products specifically designed to help combat hair loss and throughly cleanse the scalp. I recommend everyone of you try what works best for you. Not everyone is going to benefit from using Procerin alone. I seem to be one of those guys and I’m only 21 years old. 🙁

Kevin
