Subj: Hard water?
Date: 2/26/2004
Just started this week. Am 40 and have noticed hairline receding for several months now. Saw an earlier post about hard water but no feedback from this site. My increase in hair loss also corresponded to my moving from a place with a water softener to one with just regular tap water. Any possible connection here? Thanks and will keep you posted.

Jeff

AskDocWeb: A lot of things change when you move. As you may have heard, stress can cause hair loss and moving is one of the most stressful things you can do. Also, you are exposed to a whole new set of chemicals in your new environment. While we are not discounting the possibility of hard/soft water making a difference, we have yet to hear from anyone who stopped losing hair after getting a water softener.

Subj: 2 months – Tim
Date: 2/27/2004
Here are my stats: 35 years old, Black, thinning hair on top and very thin on the crown. I’ve been using since Dec 2003. There have been no side effects, and I’ve seen the hair I had on top get longer and slightly thicker, but there hasn’t been a noticeable change in the growth of new hair on my bald spots (crown).

I am sure that the product stops hair loss, I’ve noticed that the loss is reduced. I am still waiting to see if it grows hair in bald areas. Should this product be used in conjunction with another product to maximise results?

Tim

AskDocWeb: For the sake of our study, we would prefer you hold off on using anything else with the Procerin until our study is complete in July. If you use several things at once, you can’t tell which one is the active/effective one.

Subj: Giving Procerin a shot
Date: 2/27/2004
Based on this informative site, I’m going to give Procerin a shot, as it seems to be working for many people out there in addition to not having any sexual side effects – so thanks for the info! Anyway, you mention that discontinuing use of Procerin would cause hair loss to resume within months – that’s all fine and dandy, however will it lose at the same rate as before, or at an accelerated rate – as if your hair was dependent on the drug? Secondly, is there such a thing as psychosomatic hair regrowth, if a placebo is unsuspectingly taken?

Wolf

AskDocWeb: Yes, there is such a thing as psychosomatic hair regrowth while taking a placebo. This is what we refer to as faith-based products. The placebos run 12% – 17% effective. And by the way, if you know anyone who is getting good results from a placebo, be nice to them. Don’t tell them it’s a placebo or you will destroy their good results.

Subj: Volunteering – Mark
Date: 2/27/2004
I am volunteering for the procerin study. I am 21 years old and have noticed thinning hair on the vertex of my head. I have naturally fine hair but alot of it. I have noticed a change over the last year. I have not tried anything else yet would like to try procerin.

Subj: Update – Joe
Date: 2/28/2004
Just a follow up on a previous post where I sited increased hair loss after a week or two of taking procerin. That increased hair loss has stopped after the first bottle and I am losing slightly less hair than before I started taking it. However, this also has coincided with my use of Nisim Biofactors shampoo. I will keep taking procerin and let you know if it fully stops my hairloss and triggers regrowth. I am a 19 year old male experiencing hairloss for the past 2 years.

Joe

AskDocWeb: Just a format note: Please tell us how many months you have been using Procerin each time you post.

Subj: Misunderstanding
Date: 2/29/2004
The misunderstanding here is that you are supposed to use this product with Minoxidil. Why? Because Procerin is a DHT blocker to stop hair loss and provide minimal hair regrowth. Rogaine is a regrowth stimulator to grow hair. Once you grow your hair back, you stop taking the Rogaine and remain on the DHT blocker (Procerin). This is the best method for really getting your hair to grow.

Subj: first order
Date: 2/29/2004
I just received my first order of Procerin. I have taken some before pictures and will take a few more every month. I will keep you posted on my progress. I am 35 years old and have been very, very slowly thinning for 18 years. It will be interesting to see if it helps.

Subj: Pics
Date: 3/2/2004
Hi, I am a 24 year old male and, like the myriad of other men on this site, I am intrigued by this study. I have not yet decided whether I should buy and try the stuff or not. However, one of Kenny’s notes might help me. In it, he offered to provide some pics of his hairline as his study with the med. progressed. Could I possibly take him up on that offer? Thanks!

Matt

AskDocWeb: Okay group, it’s time to start sending in pictures. Send them to Research atsign askdocweb.com or if you need a postal address, let us know. And just because we are working to get them up by the first of next month, please – NO APRIL FOOLS PICS. 😉

Subj: 2 weeks – Derek.
Date: 3/3/2004
I just turned 29, and have been loosing hair very gradually, but over the past 5 months or so it seems to have picked up.

Procerein is my first attempt at any kind of remedy for this trend, after 2 weeks I was very pleased, I noticed a reduction in the amount of hair when I shampoo and when I calm my hair? Never got nausea, but I experienced some type of chest pain, and sometimes like my heart was racing, mainly in the evenings, so I stopped taking it and researched the ingredients and was unable to find anything that may cause that (if anyone has had similar reactions please share your experiences).

Anyway I quit taking it about 3 nights ago, and the chest pains as well as the racing heart has gone away. I’m gonna start again tomorrow and just do 2 pills 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening and see what comes out of that. Will keep you all posted. But I want to resume the usage because I was definitely impressed with the quick results.

Derek.

Subj: Tips for picture taking
Date: 3/4/2004
I am a 23 year old with recession on mostly one side of the hairline in front, but starting on the other side. Is this common ? I am ordering Procerin and will give feedback. Any tips on how to best take the pictures, i.e. lighting, positioning ?

Andrew

AskDocWeb: Indirect lighting or soft lighting will avoid shinny spots. Take lots of pictures from several different angles, directions and distances. Also, pay attention to what is behind the subject. Try for a light colored background or something that has contrast.

Subj: 2 months – Sal
Date: 3/4/2004
Hey guys, this is my 3rd post, I have been taking this stuff for a couple of months, I definitely see a decrease in hair falling out, as far as regrowth is concerned, I see fine hairs growing in a little on my bald spots. I will definitely order a new batch!

Subj: Adding Procerin to Propecia?
Date: 3/6/2004
I am a 26 year old male who is having issues with hair loss. I have taken propecia for about 2 months and still have fall-out. What are the possible side effects and risks if I add a treatment like procerin? It is not studied or approved by the FDA, correct?

Bill

AskDocWeb: Yes, Bill, you are correct. Part of the reason Procerin costs so much less than Propecia is that Propecia is a prescription drug and Procerin is not. Procerin is a supplement. A word of caution here: Please consult with your doctor before taking them together. If the Propecia didn’t work for you then it would seem likly that the Procerin also will not. Both Procerin and Propecia work by blocking formation of DHT.

Subj: Just started at 41
Date: 3/7/2004

I am 41 and have been loosing my hair slowly since my late 20’s. I tried a couple of different products, the last being Avacor. Avacor gave some results but not what I expected. I figured I’d try Procerin and ordered a 1 year supply. I figured if I was going to really give it a chance, I’d get a years supply. I just started taking it on 3-6-2004, but I promise to check in monthly with my results. Good luck to the rest of you! Thanks,

Ace

Subj: 3 months – Michael
Date: 3/8/2004
I’m 29 and started thinning on top at 26-27 I’ve been taking procerin for just over 3 months and I have continued to get thinner on top. I get a Chest pain sometimes and fart a lot more. I always take it with a drink or snack. I think it’s a gimmic but I’ll finish the 6 month course and keep you updated.

Michael

Subj: 3 months – Jeffrey
Date: 3/8/2004
My three month update: About two and a half months into it, I started to shed just generally in one spot. That seemed to stop, the hair seems to come back thicker. Hoping for the best, just need to be patient. I’ve been noticing thin light colored hairs (I have natural dark hair) coming in, not grey though. That’s all I can say for now. P.S. I just placed an order for a 6 month supply. Thats how confident I am in Procerin.

Jeffrey

Subj: 2 months – Jack
Date: 3/9/2004
It’s good to know that there are a lot of people with positive results from this product. I’m 21 years old and started losing hair on my temples. Been using procerin for about 2 months now. My hair feels thicker and kind of looks thicker as well. I just wanted to know if using hair gel stops procerin from working? I’ll post you guys if hair starts to regrow, and there are small light colored hairs growing, just hope they get darker and thicker. Thanks.

Jack

AskDocWeb: Haven’t heard anything about hair gel causing problems.

Subj: Long term
Date: 3/9/2004
Hi, I want to know if the body develops any kind of resistance against the effects of procerin in the long run.

Robert

AskDocWeb: We would also like to know that. These pages will stay up long after the Procerin Study is finished so that anyone can let us know if this happens.

Subj: 2 1/2 months – Josiah
Date: 3/9/2004
I am 33 years old, and have been slowly and steadily losing my hair since I was about 27-28.

I began taking Procerin 2 1/2 months ago. In the first several weeks I noticed small tiny thin hairs growing on my temples (where I was receding). After some intitial growth in the beginning, it seems as though my hair loss has actually now increased, especially in my temple area.

After 2 1/2 months of using Procerin, I can say that my hair loss has increased at a faster rate than ever. I will continue to use up my entire 6 month supply. If things don’t turn around in the next 3 months…I will be asking for my refund.

Josiah

AskDocWeb: Thanks for letting us know, Josiah. We appreciate your finishing the 6 months supply to see what happens. You could be just going through a period of shedding like some others have reported.

Subj: Allergy medication and procerin
Date: 3/10/2004
Question: I take vitamins, allergy medication and procerin in the morning. Is it okay to take all of them at the same time? Should they be taken at different times? Thank you.

Eric

AskDocWeb: That would be a good question to ask your doctor. Show him or her a list of whatever you take with your allergy medication and the Procerin. It sounds like you need a medical opinion from a doctor who is familiar with your medications and the condition of your health.

Subj: Wearing a cap
Date: 3/10/2004
I’m almost 19 and don’t have the best hairline, and lately I have noticed increased hair loss. I’ve read reviews on Procerin and the information on the Procerin site, but this site has convinced me to order a 3-month supply.

I have been wearing a cap constantly for the past 6-7 months because I’ve had a series of bad haircuts, I’ve heard rumours, but would that contribute towards this sudden hairloss? I plan to shave my head this week so I’ll ditch the cap from now on.

Jim

AskDocWeb: We’ve heard that hat myth before but could never find any evidence to support it.

Subj: Just ordered
Date: 3/11/2004
I’ve been noticing hair loss for the past two years or so but never really did anything about it until today. Went to the doctor but my insurance won’t cover propica so I just ordered my first 3 months supply of Procerin, I’ll keep you all in the loop. Something else you all might want to try, about 2 months ago I started doing Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) and one of the positions that sends fresh blood to the head. Since i’ve started yoga I have noticed a decrease in my hair loss. Hopefully that, the Procerin and the vitamin B my doctor suggested will stem the tide. Good luck boys.

Subj: Stretch marks?
Date: 3/12/2004
I have been taking this for about two months now and I have marks on the inside of my thighs. Not sure if procerin is doing it or I’m gaining weight. They do look like stretch marks. They’re red. Does it sound like procerin did it?

Bill

AskDocWeb: We are looking for any possible side effects of Procerin but this sounds like an effect of gaining weight. However, now that you have let us know, others can watch for this.

Subj: 6 months – Jeff
Date: 3/12/2004
I’m 40 and I just finished my first 6 months of Procerin. I used Propecia for about 3 years before that with good results, but thought I might be having some side effects. With Procerin I feel no side effects, but I don’t think it works quite as well as the Propecia. I have thick hair, but it is slowly receding in the front. I will try another 6 months of Procerin and then go back to Propecia if my hairline gets any thinner. Perhaps at a certain age, neither pill can stop me from having some hair loss, but I believe it would be worse if I took nothing.

Jeff

Subj: Rife frequencies?
Date: 3/15/2004
Have you ever used Rife frequencies for hair loss? The frequencies for Alopecia (Hair Loss) 727, 787, 880, 5000, in Hz I have been using them for about 2 weeks now and notice a tingling on my scalp when I do my treatments.

My age is 38 and my hair has been slowly thinning over the course of 10 years. I have taken before pictures and I will also be ordering some Procerin and using that at the same time with the frequency treatments. I have some receding of my hairline and a lot of thinning on the crown of my head. I will keep you updated.
