About Provillus
This is a consumer review of Provillus, a hair loss treatment for both men and women. First we’ll look at this hair loss product as described by the manufacturer and then follow with user questions, comments and feedback.
What is Provillus?
Provillus is a relatively new product manufactured by Ultra Herbal for those suffering from hair loss. It does this by creating the optimum environment for new, healthy hairs. Provillus supplies the proper nutrition to bring dead hair follicles back to life or prevent hair loss from occurring. And since Provillus is a supplement, no prescription is necessary. If you can’t find it locally, it is also available online.
How does Provillus work?
Provillus blocks DHT (dihydrotestostrone), which is one of the major causes of hair loss. The formula of Provillus was designed to block DHT and supply the proper nutrients to your body specifically tailored to prevent hair loss and to help you regrow hair naturally. Provillus supplements your body’s natural supply of nutrients and lets the tiny follicles beneath your scalp receive exactly what they need to grow hair.
The company says that Provillus supplies the proper nutrition required to bring damaged, dead hair follicles back to life.
Provillus’ hair supplements are taken orally and absorbed quickly, to promote new, healthy hair growth.

General Notes
We ran into a problem while checking out Provillus. There is a lot less documentation with non-prescription products and this one is relatively new, so we didn’t find much on it. The earliest mention we found was November of 2002. That’s when they first showed up on the Internet. At this time there are no unresolved disputes with the Better Business Bureau so that’s a plus in their favor.
Provillus comes with a 30-day Money Back Guarantee. To request a refund you must obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). You only receive a credit on the bottles (empty or not) that are returned with your RMA. If the package is not received within 15 days you will not be eligible for the refund. There is a refund processing and restocking fee of $10 per item.
Ordering Provillus
We’ve not seen Provillus in the local drugstore. It seem to be available only online. You can order Provillus from outside the United States because they ship internationally to most countries. The only countries we found that prohibited shipping were Iran, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Uzbekistan. Canada allows importation of Provillus pills but not the Provillus solution. If you are unsure whether your country’s custom laws permit the importation of Provillus, you should ask a Customs Agent in your country prior to placing your order.

Hair loss treatment
Date: 7/21/2006
Do you know anything about Provillus hair loss treatment. It seems to be better ranked than Advecia. One important question, does the hair loss start again after stopping treatment? Thanks.
Ken
AskDocWeb: Yes, all the hair loss treatments on the market share that same drawback. If you want continued results, you have to keep using them.
Faster heart beat?
Date: 1/26/2007
I have been taken Provillus for 10 days and just recently have been feeling hyper, with a more rapid heartbeat. I am also taking a beta blocker for high blood pressure. Could the Provillus be causing the faster heart beat?
Richard
AskDocWeb: Yes it could. You should report this to your doctor and take the Provillus with you so they can check to find out if any of the ingredients might cause a problem with your beta blocker.
Female hair loss treatment?
Date: 2/4/2007
I am female, 27 years old. I have experienced hair loss for nearly three years. My father is a victim of alopecia and I’m afraid that I have been chosen to be the next victim. I have used Nioxin, Regrogen but all seem to not work well. I have been advised that Provillus is also designed for women. Please kindly let me know whether Provillus is the best treatment for female hair loss or I should take other medicine. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
Tracy
AskDocWeb: Sorry Tracy, we don’t have a recommendation for the “best” treatment for female hair loss. Provillus is worth a try because it comes with a money back guarantee. You might want to bookmark this page so you can come back and share your results with others here.
African American males?
Date: 2/8/2007
Does this product work for African American males? If so will it restore your hair line?
Kevin
AskDocWeb: Yes, they say it will work on all kinds of hair.
Provillus Vs minoxidil
Date: 3/26/2007
Does Provillus really work? I am currently on propecia and would like to know if both can be used at the same time. Or would you suggest using propecia and minoxidil instead?
Anthony
AskDocWeb: We suggest picking one hair loss product and use it for six months before adding a second product for hair loss. That way if you have a bad reaction or negative side effects you will know which product caused the problem.
Feedback on Provillus?
Date: 4/2/2007
Is there any feedback on provillus that it has worked for people? I’ve just received my three months supplement. Is procerin better coz I’ve heard more positive feedback on procerin than provillus?
Mohammed
AskDocWeb: What feedback we have is here. Procerin has been around longer than Provillus but they have about the same ingredients.
Drug Provillus?
Date: 4/12/2007
I have a question regarding the drug provillus. I am taking this drug for about 2 months and I don’t see any results… can you please let me know if I should continue taking this drug and does it really help regrow hair… or its another pill that is false. Thank you for you cooperation.
Suren
AskDocWeb: As far as we know there is no drug called Provillus. There is a supplement called Provillus that we talk about here. It is intended to help prevent hair loss. If that is what you are referring to then the minimum time to see results is three months but it is more likely to take six months.
Stopped hair loss but no regrowth
Date: 4/23/2007
Hey, I tried provillus for six months. It stopped my hair fall a bit but I didn’t notice any regrowth. Also, I had thrown one of the bottles by mistake and hence; couldn’t get my refund. They need all 6 empty bottles. All I can say is that it didn’t work for me. Now I’ve switched to procerin pills with nutrifolica solution. Cheers,
Salman
Erectile dysfunction
Date: 4/24/2007
does Provillus cause erectile dysfunction like other hair growth products?
Nick
AskDocWeb: When you mention erectile dysfunction in relation to “other hair growth products” you are likely referring to Propecia, which is a prescription drug. Provillus is NOT a prescription drug. One of the reasons people choose Provillus is to avoid those kinds of problems.
Provillus review
Date: 5/9/2007
For anyone who is wondering about Provillus, here is one review. I am a 24 year old female. I started losing hair at about age 17. I didn’t give it 6 months to a year that they recommended to see results because they claimed it would stop hair loss and then regrow hair. While I was taking it, I saw the same amount of hair loss as I had always seen. To be honest, when I was on Provillus, it was as if I was not taking anything at all. I saw the same amount of hair fall out and I certainly didn’t see any hair growth. So, if anyone wants to try it for the recommended 6 months to a year to see if it works, then go ahead. I didn’t because I didn’t see any improvement in hair fall out.
Rina
AskDocWeb: You left out one of the most important parts of your “review”: How long did you use it? Expecting results in just a few days is not realistic.
Arrhythmias and rapid heart rate
Date: 6/6/2007
I noticed the question about rapid heart beat after taking Provillus, and was wondering if it could have been BECAUSE of the person also taking beta blockers, or do you think that some of the ingredients in Provillus can cause a person’s heart to beat faster? I’ve had to put up with palpitations and have cut out all caffeine from my diet and would really rather not start taking something that could mess with my heart arrhythmias. If you feel that one or some of what’s in Provillus could affect the heart, please let me know. Thanks. 🙂
David
AskDocWeb: Saw palmetto, the main ingredient, is known to cause heart palpitations in a small percentage of users. In those who do experience that side effect, it may or may not go away with continued use. Read more feedback.
