I am about to try treatment for the first time. I was wondering which product to start off with, Provillus or Minoxidil 15% / Azelaic Acid 5%.

AskDocWeb: With the 15% solution of Minoxidil there is a concern about the growth of unwanted body hair and other side effects. Women in the USA are limited to the 2% solution because of this concern. If you go with Provillus give it 6 months for an honest assessment.

I’ve used Provillus for 6 months and it has both stopped the excessive loss of hair as well as prompted sufficient hair re-growth. I found this blog online while I was looking to reorder another 6 month supply. After reading the posts I’ve concluded that that there’s no one product for all of us and that each of us needs to find whatever works for us personally. Good luck everyone!

One question I have before I buy, after you have used this product do you have to continue to use it to maintain you hair regrowth? What happens is you us this for 6months and stop?

AskDocWeb: It is the same with all products for hair loss; Propecia, Minoxidil, Procerin, etc., when you stop using it you lose the benefits over the following 12 months. To keep the benefits you have to continue using it.

I am wondering which product works better out of provillus and procerin. Both seem to contain very similiar ingredients but the more I read on the 2 the more confused I am. Excluding any topical treatments which of these 2 products seem to work best for most men according to information you have gathered? Thanks,

I’ve been using Provillus for about one year. I saw some good regrowth until four months ago when my doctor increased the dosage of my medication for hypothyroidism. Now my hair is falling out big time. Should I stop using Provillus?

AskDocWeb: It sounds like the thyroid condition may be causing a major hair loss problem. Once you get that under control you may not have a problem with hair loss. What medication does your doctor have you on for the hypothyroidism?

Will provillus help boost regrowth when suffering from Telogen Effluvim? I am experiencing it after stopping birth control. If it does help regrowth, with that hair fall out after I stop taking it?

AskDocWeb: Telogen Effluvium typically results from trauma, high fever or stress (like pregnancy). As you have found out, the hormonal changes that occur when stopping birth control pills can also cause hair loss. Provillus for women (Complete Solution) has been reported to help with getting through that adjustment period, which as far as the hair loss goes, may last from three to six months.

Hi, I’m 24 year female, I started losing hair at 16, and i’m using a minoxidil product for a year now, but i can’t see a satisfying result, except my hair loss decreased than before, so I wanted to ask if I should try provillus and stop this minoxidil product.

Since I was 20 years old I slowly started losing hair at the crown of my scalp. A couple years later I began using Rogaine on and off for about two years and noticed when I used it regularly, it prevented/slowed down my hair loss, but did not regrow anything.

A little over a month ago just after my 24th birthday, I bought a two month supply of Provillus. Although my scalp has started flaking a lot, I have noticed my hair loss stop, and feel hair stubble in all the areas I have been applying the topical solution. They don’t seem like much, but after looking at a picture comparison, the hair on the back of my head does look fuller (a motivational moment!)

I have to admit, it is a pain to apply the formula twice a day, but I believe it’s been the main reason for the product’s success. I even missed applying it a few times, but made sure to still take the pill. I feel it’s essential to cover all problem areas thoroughly, DIRECTLY to the scalp in order to achieve progress, reg ardless of the specific 1ml amount they tell you to use. I’m about to purchase a six month supply. I also bought a medicated bottle of dandruff shampoo to slow down the flaking, which has helped quite well. Hope this comment is insightful, good luck!

Years of avacor didn’t help my receding hairline, but it worked a bit for the crown. I’ve heard that due to the lawsuits of avacor, they are operating under a new name. The ingredients and instructions are nearly identical to provillus? Is this another scam before I spend my hard earned money? Please help. Thanks.

AskDocWeb: You can read about the new Avacor here. It appears that the lawsuits against Global Vision Products, the original company that came out with Avacor, put them out of business. The new Avacor product for hair loss contains minoxidil. How effective that product is compared to Provillus has not been determined.

Hi my hair follicles seem to be gone. There are no holes in my scalp and I am a woman. Can Provillus work for me?

AskDocWeb: If your hair follicles are gone then you would be bald and there is no chance that Provillus would work for you. However, if you are not bald and you still have hair that hair is growing out of the follicles and it may be worth a try.

I took Provillus a few years back while I was on a cocktail of antidepressants and experienced the runs, so I stopped taking the Provillus. At the time I thought it was from the Provillus, could it be a combination of the two or a common coincidence? My meds dont give me that side effect.

AskDocWeb: If you can’t find it locally you can order Provillus online, they ship worldwide. Provillus has not been reported to affect the libido. If you stop using it your hair will start thinning again. This is the same for all hair loss products that really work; in order to keep the benefits you have to continue using it. However, there are reports that after using it for 6 months, some people can use it less frequently and still maintain their results.
