Subj: Kidney side effects?
Date: 4/25/2011
I have not seen any feedback if Provillus causes long term damage to the kidneys. Can you please let me know if there is any feedback on kidney side effects?
Roger
AskDocWeb: There are no reports or feedback of any kind of effects on the kidneys.
Subj: I want a permanent solution
Date: 4/26/2011
I am 21 years old from India and I am lossing my hairs from last 2 years, because I have thin hairs from my childhood and from last 6 months I am struggling and then I came up with some ayurvedic oil and DR SHAH told me you can see +ve effects after 6 months and now when I asked him I haven’t see any effects, what should I do, he told me “You can see results after 9- 12 months”, it means I have to purchase again his oil kit, which didnt work for me.
Then I searched toppix nanofibres ordered from ebay, it is a temporary hair loss solution which thicken the hairs….and I want permanent solution. I consult one doctor, he told me to start finpecia 1mg (similar to propecia 1 mg) but I read about the side effects of propecia (decreasing libido, ejaculation bla bla bla) so I think I should go for provillus …. what you will say ….. I should start provillus or not.
Ricky
AskDocWeb: If you want a permanent solution to hair loss you are going to have to wait until medical science discovers one. Right now there is NO permanent solution to hair loss unless you call transplants or accepting the fact of hair loss a permanent solution. There are treatments but none of those products are cures. If you think you should go for Provillus then try it. Just remember that in order to keep the benefits you have to continue using it.
Subj: What ingredient is lowering DHT?
Date: 5/7/2011
Read good review on Provillus here and on other site, only wondering on lower sex drive caused by these type of medicines. Can you please highlight which ingredient of this medicine is causing DHT lowering.
Ahmadi
AskDocWeb: Just to be clear, Provillus is not a prescription drug like Propecia and has no comparable sexual side effects. The primary active ingredient in the topical Provillus is minoxidil, an FDA approved drug that is clinically proven to grow hair. The pharmacokinetics of minoxidil are unknown so we don’t know if it is blocking DHT or achieving hair growth through another means.
Subj: How long is minoxidil recommended to be used?
Date: 6/7/2011
Hi my name is Sharmake i have been usin minoxidi 2% for three months and i have seen the results for how long is it recommended to be used?
Sharmake
AskDocWeb: The product literature for minoxidil says that it may take from 3 to 9 months to tell if Minoxidil is working and not everyone sees a benefit. As for a maximum length of time that Minoxidil can be used, there is no set limit.
Subj: Provillus price
Date: 6/19/2011
How come you have two different price for 3+1 bottles-USD119.95 and USD149.95?
William
AskDocWeb: It is likely that what you saw were ads placed by a third party ad server. The right hand column usually carries advertising that rotates through a verity of ads but we don’t chose which specific ads shown.
Subj: I hate man boobs & I love my sex life!
Date: 6/24/2011
Hi my name is Vince, and I am 28 years old. I lost maybe 10% of my hair for the past 4 years gradually but all over and not in 1 specific spot (mostly on the top/front & some in crown and some at the hairline). I have some very thin lines of my scalp showing. I am using Propecia & Rogaine 5% for 1 month now, I have noticed my libido decreased just a bit (could be psychological after doing so much research who knows).
Another side effect has been breast enlargement slightly. I don’t like what I read & how I feel about Propecia to be honest & is not worth risking my health just simply over my hair. So, now would you think using the following 4 combination could be an alternative to propecia & a good combination of 4?
1)Provillus pills (without the topical) [I do NOT have YET]
2)Nisim shampoo/conditioner/extract [I do NOT have YET]
3)Rogaine 5% for men [currently using]
4)Other vitamins & supplement: [currently using all of these] -Vitamin C (1000 mg) once a day -Fish Oil / Omega-3(1200 mg) twice a day -Vitamin B12 (2500 mcg) once a day -Vitamin D (1000 I.U.) once a day -Natures and Bounty supplement for healthier Hair/Skin/Nails & contains 5000 mcg of Biotin [this supplement has Other vitamins, A, C, D, E, B-1, B-2, B-6, Niacin more. Also Calcium, Iron, zinc, magnesium). I take 3 a day [1 in the morning, 1 at noon, and 1 in evening.
I would like to get your input on my list above. I am currently using Rogaine & the supplement; however, I wanted to see if Provillus pills & Nisim shampoo/extract product can be blended in my list, and maybe become an alternative. I really don’t like Propecia. I hate man boobs & I love my sex life! Please advice. I appreciate it. Thx
Vince
AskDocWeb: Hi Vince, and welcome to the forum. Our only advice is to get checked out medically. Getting hair loss at 28 may have a medical cause. Please note that excessive amounts of vitamin C are known to cause diarrhea. In checking the ingredients in the Nisim shampoo/extract (see below) we didn’t find any interactions that might cause a problem when used with Provillus pills.
Ingredients in Extract: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Betaglucan, PVP, Equestetum Arvense, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit, Propylene Glycol, Glycine Soja, Panax Ginseng, Castanea Sativa, Arnica Montana, Hedera Helix, Geranium Maculatum, Chamomilla Rectita, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Panthenol, Inositol, Cystine Sulfur, Cysteine, Methionine, Carbomer, Parfum, Tiethanolamine, henoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Polyparaben, Butylparaben, and yellow number 5.
Subj: Primrose supplement capsules
Date: 8/3/2011
I’ve been thinning for about the last 10 years, I began Minoxidil 5 years ago and although it has basically slowed almost to a stop my hair lost, I have a noticible thin hairline. I added Provillus last month to my routine and recently saw on Dr Oz that the use of primrose also is a good supplement for hair loss. My question is, is it safe to use primrose supplement capsules along with the Provillus capsules and the Minoxidil together?
Gary
AskDocWeb: Primrose supplements contain evening primrose oil, which does have a few health concerns. However, those concerns do not apply to its use with minoxidil and/or Provillus.
Subj: Provillus with Tricomin products?
Date: 8/14/2011
Can you use Provillius with the Tricomin products?
Diane
AskDocWeb: Sorry Diane, the Tricomin website does not list the ingredients in their products so we are unable to check for interactions. If you have one of their products maybe you could check to see if the ingredients are listed on the label and share them here.
Subj: Does Provillus interfere with hormones?
Date: 8/21/2011
Hi, I am inquiring about Provillus nutritional supplement: It claims to ‘balance your hormones’. Does it interfere with your hormone system?
Wilna
AskDocWeb: We were unable to locate that claim on the official Provillus website. Their product does contain ginseng, which they claim “helps support and maintain hormone balance” but there is nothing in Provillus that would interfere with your hormones.
Subj: Regarding minoxidil and redness
Date: 8/30/2011
Provillus or any other product with Minoxidil. I have seen many coments about the sideffects regarding minoxidil and redness. All the products that contains minodoxidil has a warning that you should stop using if redness occurs. The major big problem is that i´ts too late when the redness occurs on your scalp or body! My redness started after 3 months of use and i stopped using it. One year later and i´m still suffering from it and i have to use cream with cortisone every day. I understand that not every one is allergic to it but still i´m angry that they can sell it without prescription over the internet?
Kimmo
AskDocWeb: Minoxidil is not just sold over the Internet. It is available in most drugstores in almost every city around the world. In most places no prescription is required to buy it.
Subj: Shedding
Date: 9/6/2011
Is it normal when using provillus that you actually start to shed more hair at first? I’ve been using porvillus for a month and a half as directed and it seems like i’m getting thinner at the crown of my head and a bit thinner in the front portion of my scalp, it maybe my imagination but i dont think so. I’m also using minoxidil also as directed.
Casey
AskDocWeb: It’s not typical but an initial period of temporary shedding has been reported with all of the products for hair loss that we have evaluated. This only occurs in a small percentage of men. Of course knowing that doesn’t help if you are in that small percentage of men. The good news is that it is temporary and usually doesn’t last more than a couple of weeks.
Subj: Revivogen?
Date: 9/11/2011
I’ve been using Provillus and minoxidil for two months, have been thru the shedding and it appears the shedding has started to let up. I’m hoping now to obatin positive progress in hair growth. My question is i’ve been reading about a product called revivogen, would it be a positive thing or a negative thing to include the revivogen product to my daily program?
Gary
AskDocWeb: We are collecting feedback from people who have tried Revivogen but so far it doesn’t look promising. Read the feedback.
Subj: Shedding
Date: 9/14/2011
I’ve been reading your reviews and answers regarding shedding. I also went thru a shedding period while using Provillus, i’m still using the capsule and minoxidil combination and since my shedding has slowed and appears to be no more shedding than normal, I notice that my hair is actually thinner than when I started using Provillus. it’s been three months now and I havent noticed any new hair growth to speak of. My question is should I stop using the Provillus and continue the Minoxidil or is there some sort of period where my hair will show some sign of growth? Is it normal to shed then regrow or is that the exception to those in the percentage of lucky guys?
Gerald
AskDocWeb: The initial period of shedding is not typical but it has been reported often enough that it is no surprise. What is typical is for the hair that is shed to regrow once the scalp is through that shedding phase. Since it sounds like you are now out of that phase you may want to give it a couple of months to see what happens.
