Very bad reaction from Roc’s product
Date: 1/14/2012
I have bought Roc’s product with Retinol and unfortunately had a very bad reaction from the first hour if usage (frown) I applied it for the night and straight after 20 minutes started to get the respiratory – breathing problems with cold sweat and body shaking, had to wash it off before after about an hour of the same condition started to feel better, also was drinking a lot of water to help the body to get rid of the retinol toxicity. It sounds very similar to one of the other reviewers posting earlier.
There is actually a research suggesting that topical or oral retinoids may lead to lung problems and in some cases fatalities so do your research and if feel strange after usage especially with breathing problems discontinue the usage. I personally had very high hopes for this product as was buying it after friend’s recommendation but the caused effect on me once again makes me think that in the chafe for the profit many things just remain untold but they will explode sooner or later on us…and the consumer will get the shorter side if it.

Sunscreen
Date: 2/18/2012
What sunscreen do you recommend with Renova? I was looking at Olay Regenerist as I heard that peptides should be added when using a retin-a product.

Remember that a moisturizer that works well for someone else’s skin type may not work for you. You may have to experiment a little to find one that is right for you.
Renovation?
Date: 4/21/2012
What’s the difference between renovation 0.05% & renovation 0.050% ? Which one is stronger?
Alex
AskDocWeb: The number 0.05% is equal to 0.050%. If you are talking about Renova you may want to check your numbers again.
Pea size amount not enough
Date: 6/17/2012
I find when I use my Renova cream that if my face is completely dry (as recommended), even though I do dab a pea size amount on my forehead, cheeks and chin, I am unable to smoothly distribute it on all parts of my face. Instead, it just sinks in around the area where I had put the dab of cream as soon as I start to attempt to distribute it all around my face. My Renova is a pump bottle so I know I’m putting the proper amount on my face. Prior to reading above that one’s face needs to be dry when applying or the product won’t be as potent, I had been applying it directly after washing my face and patting it damp, but leaving a little water on my face and this helped me to be able to rub the product evenly all over my face. By my face being damp when I apply the product, will a little dampness affect its potency and, if so, what else can I do so that the product can be distributed evenly around my face because it’s not spreading evenly on a completely dry face?
Cathy
AskDocWeb: The manufacturer says “Apply a pea-sized amount of cream, using just enough to cover your entire face lightly…” “Be careful to avoid your eyes, nostrils and mouth.” In this case “lightly” means that the layer is thin enough that it is immediately absorbed so you shouldn’t be able to see it.
Experimenting with Renova
Date: 6/20/2012
Hi, I was wondering whether it is ok to try Renova if I have mild Rosacea. I have read reports/studies that say that topical tretinoin has helped a significant number of people with redness and telangiectasia, but others (and this seems to be more anecdotal, but I’m not sure) say that tretinoin makes telangiectasia more prominent. Is there any reason not to experiment with Renova given that I am prone to facial redness? I have been applying it now for a little over a month, and just this week started noticing peeling and possibly increased redness. I am applying it every third day. So far my side effects have been quite mild, but I just wondered whether I might be foolish to be experimenting with Renova at all. Is it reasonable to give it another 2 months or so and see how my skin reacts?
Emily
AskDocWeb: The reason for the conflicting reports about the effect of Renova is that people have different skin types and skin conditions that vary widely from one individual to the next. Because this a prescription drug, it does seem foolish to experiment with Renova without first getting an “in person” evaluation from a doctor or dermatologist. The phrase “One size fits all” does not apply to prescription drugs.
Peeling looks really bad
9/19/2012
I’ve been using renova 0.05% for the past three weeks.its made a really huge diffrence on my skin but the peeling looks really bad.is there anything i can do or put to reduce the show of the peeling?
Khushbu
AskDocWeb: The initial 3-5 week adjustment period is often difficult to get though because the skin looks worse before it gets better. Readers report that using it every other day until your skin gets used to it seems to reduce the peeling off phase.
Redness
11/22/2012
Hello. How long does the redness take to go away??? thenks
Kamie
AskDocWeb: Some redness is to be expected and that may persist for the first 2 to 3 weeks of use. Please note that the patient information for Renova says to check with your doctor if you have excessive redness. That may indicate using too much, too often, or a bad reaction.
Renova Vs. Retin A
Date: 3/26/2013
Is there an advantage to Renova vs. Retin A? I’ve experimented with Retin-A and had no redness or flaking. My goal is to reduce wrinkles and brown spots – I run, swim and bike outdoors in summer. Is it worth paying more for Renova?
Kathryn
AskDocWeb: Several women have indicated that they believe it is worth the extra cost. If you read the feedback, you’ll see reports that Renova is less harsh than plain Retin-A and that Renova does the same as Retin-A but at a slower pace.
