Subj: Using Retin-A/Renova for 20 years
Date: 9/22/2010
I’ve been using Retin-A/Renova for 20 years. A dermatologist recommended it for anti-aging during an annual exam, even though I hadn’t asked about it. I’m 57 and people constantly remark that they can’t believe my age — even doctors and nurses. Women in my family wanted to know what I’m doing to stay young. Highly recommend this to everyone. I find it is NOT expensive since it lasts such a long time. The multitude of OTC anti-aging creams/lotions/serums, etc., etc., don’t last nearly as long and are expensive as well and obviously don’t deliver like Renova. Question — what is the advantage of Renova over the generic tretinoin?

Patty
AskDocWeb: The only advantage we see goes to the drug company. They get to make more money. The generic tretinoin is pharmacologically equivalent to the name brand and produces the same effects.

Subj: When to apply Renova
Date: 10/3/2010
I began using renova 3 days ago. My face has become very dry and started to Peel. I put it on in the morning after washing my face. Then at night before I go to bed I wash my face again then reapply more renova on my face. Is it ok to apply renova in the morning and at night? Or should I only apply it at night? Or only apply it in the morning?

Cristina

AskDocWeb: Your doctor will tell you how and when to apply Renova but generally, it is used at night so it can remain on the skin. Since most everyone experiences some initial skin irritation it is often recommended that Renova only be applied every other night to allow the skin time to get used to it.

Subj: Lines under eyes
Date: 11/24/2010
I am 22 and i have lines under my eyes and more on the side of eyes, so can i use renova for this or should i consult my dermotoligist first?

Hira

AskDocWeb: If you talk to a dermatologist first you can ask about exactly how close to your eyes you can use this product without harm.

Subj: Expired Renova
Date: 12/3/2010
I have a prescription tube of RENOVA that expired Oct 2010. Should I continue use or how long after expiration will this product remain effective.

Sherry

AskDocWeb: Sorry Sherry, the manufacturer says that expired product should not be used after the expiration date.

Subj: Swelling and white circles
Date: 12/15/2010
I have developed swelling and white circles around my lower lids resembling a patient with renal problems. I have been using renova for more then a year. What do you think?

Paul

AskDocWeb: Swelling is one of the symptoms that should be reported to your doctor. It is possible that you might be using it too close to your eyes.

Subj: Skin around nail bed?
Date: 12/27/2010
Can Renova be used as a cuticle cream? Would it be effective in smoothing and regenerating skin around nail bed?

Del

AskDocWeb: You may want to stick with Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Cream for those cuticles. The FDA has approved Renova for use only on the face. Using it anywhere else would be considered an off-label use.

Subj: Too old?
Date: 1/14/2011
Am I too old at 70 to use Renova? My skin is good, but I would especially like to use it for around the mouth area. Can it be used on hands?

Jennifer

AskDocWeb: We haven’t heard of an age limit on the use of Renova. If you get a prescription for Renova, be sure to ask the doctor exactly how close to your mouth you can safely use it. There are also alternatives to consider for your hands like the 8% AHA product in an emollient base. You can try Alpha Hydrox Lotion or Cream 8% AHA, both of which can be found at your local drugstore. Applying a sunscreen after you apply the AHA product to your hands also helps to prevent sun damage.

Subj: Skin darkens before peeling
Date: 1/26/2011
Yes, I Had been using retin-a cream generic for 2 years and my skin was doing fine. My derm switched me to retin-a micro and it made a mess of my skin it was red and sore and my skin never acclimated to it. My derm then switched me to renova .02. I have used it for 2 days and I have major redness and I can see the spots on my skin that were dark getting darker. I never experienced this with the generic retin-a. I thought that the Renova being a lower dosage would be easier on my skin. Is it possible that the renova at a lower dose could be stronger than the generic high dose? Also, is it normal for the skin to darken before peeling. I just never had this with the generic. Also, what do you think about emu oil would it clog the pores?

Tabitha

AskDocWeb: It is not unusual for the skin to darken before it peels off. It depends on the depth that the treatment penetrates and your skin type. Emu oil contains linolenic acid and oleic acid. The combination of these promote healing and have anti-inflammatory effects that make it a good moisturizer. It conditions the skin’s texture leaving it smooth and it’s also non-greasy.

Subj: 5% Tretinion Cream
Date: 1/27/2011
I was told that they no longer made 5% Renova. I loved it and it changed my completion so much and then I had to use 2% because they said there was no more 5% and all of a sudden the tiny bumps that had gone away came back and the doctor change me to 5% Tretinion Cream. I really don’t like it as well as Renova. Do you have any suggestions?

B. A

AskDocWeb: It would be helpful to know what it is about the Tretinoin Cream that you don’t like. If it is just something minor then give it a chance to work and see what happens.

Subj: Moisturizer
Date: 2/2/2011
Can you put a moisturizer on your face after applying renova? If so how long should you wait to have maximum effect from the Renova?

Sherri

AskDocWeb: We have seen dermatologist recommendations range from waiting at least 20 minutes to up to one hour before applying moisturizer, most say to wait 30 minutes.

Subj: Retinoid products
Date: 4/28/2011
Do not use Renova or any retinoid products. These agents are chemotherapy drugs that cancer researchers found were too toxic for cancer patients. Ask, via FOIA Act, from the FDA for the NDA 19963 on Renova 0.05% and the NDA 21 108 for Renova 0.02%. Tell them you want to know all microbial used in this product and all ingredients and for all adverse reactions that subjects suffered. You do not want to use this product or any product like it. In 1998, Renova 0.05% was revised to include patent 4877805 and the patent clearly states isotretinoin (accutane) was used in this cream as well as Renova 0.02%. You will, also, see in this patent TTNPB and this is a toxic engineered hepatitis B virus per Protein Data Bank. The National Medical Library states that Accutane is zinc salts and the 13-cis isomer. The protein data bank will inform you that the 13-cis isomer is the bacteriorhodopsin (fungus/bacteria) which causes Keratitis and is verified in Seeger and Weiss Lawsuits against Accutane, yet this law firm refuses to help me. The NDA’s will inform you that tretinoin peels off the top layers of the epidermis and allows harmful UV radiation to enter. The use of DMSO with this retinoid products penetrates the tissue membrane and allowing these retinoid microbial agents to enter under the skin as well along with any airborne microorganisms. DMSO is known as a carcingenic. BHT (butylated) is a pesticide and known carcingenic used in this product. One retinoid agent is known to be toxic alone, Johnson and Johnson used numerous retinoids in this product. This product causes impetigo, dermaitis, lesions, atypia (precancerous cells), blurred vision, severe migraines, bone disorders such as anteriolisthesis (spine slipping do to fractures that retinoids are known to cause and stated in the NDA 19963. They used liquid silicone and when silicone enters into the bloodstream via DMSO and other membrane partitioning agents such as cylcohexane and butadiene and the sores and burns this creams causes the silicone will go to the lungs and solidify causing silicosis. They use cloning microorganisms in this cream per a toxicologist TDA report done on me. Your eyes will burn, your throat will burn and your voice will be altered, these agents block your airwaves and create what is known as biofilms. You will suffer hair loss and these agents alter skin, hair, bones and not in a good way. It’s developer was Prof AM Kligman, well known for abusing his rights and torturig prisoners with these blister causing agents and skin hardenng agents at Holmesburg Prison. Physicians will ignore your symptoms and tell you it is in your head. They will not report your adverse reactions to the FDA to have these agents forever pulled from the market. The FDA will ignore your pleas for help and you will be left to suffer the rest of your life in severe pain. The pharmacist will not assist you in knowing what is in this product. These agents are carcingenic. These agents can and will cause sterility and your gyn/ob will not help in being diagnose with all trans retinoic acid poisoning. The websit ChemDrugs will inform you that these agents are chemo drugs. The phosphorous agents used in these drugs are listed as poison. These agents will deterioate the jawbone (phossy jaw) and all your bones. Attorneys need to do their research and they will find that Accutane isotretinoin is being used in many other products besides Accutane and pharmaceutical corps. like Johnson and Johnson are not labeling it on their pamphlets which is a violation of federal laws on mislabeling and misbranding. Attorneys must open the doors for all of us who are suffering. The bacteriorhodopsin is used in making Aspartame used in Stride chewing gum and other sugarless products such as Equal and SweetnLow. It is a dangerous toxic agent and releases endotoxins. See patent 529099 on using the bacteriorhodopsin in making Aspartame. I hope to save you from the heartache and pain I have suffered for eleven years with and which my dermatologist, Dr. Booth Durham to be arrested for poisoning me with such a toxic agent. I pray he and all others are exposed for such heartless acts. If you look for toxic poisoning tests these so call health providers will start putting false diagnosis codes on your records and insurance invoices such as DOP, an OCD to make you look crazy to cover up for the horrific acts of pharmaceutical corps. falsely luring you to use these agents. To the women who said the lines in her face look worse could this cream do this, yes it can and will. I never had lines or wrinkles and now my skin is scarred and wrinkled. That is do to the zinc salts creating what is known in the art of nano wires and nano belts and nano carbon tubes. Under the Pharmacopeia using nano carbon tubes or nano carbon paper you will see a report by Waterloo University and it will state that anti wrinkle creams use carbon nano tubes which is known to cause asbestosis of the lungs. My research was done over five years of investigating all chemicals on Renova on the physician pamphlet that each chemical led me to the term and technology of nanotechnology and biotechnology.
