Test for Low Thyroid – Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism

Online Test for Low Thyroid Function

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone. This test checks some of the major symptoms and signs associated with an under active thyroid. Read each line carefully because some symptoms are more significant than others.

Click the check box next to the symptom if it applies to you. Your total score will show at the bottom of the list.

  • 0 – 9      Indicates no thyroid problems
  • 10 – 19   Mild hypothyroidism
  • 20 – 29   Moderate hypothyroidism
  • 30 – 49   Profound hypothyroidism
  • 50 – 69   Severe hypothyroidism
  • 70+        Hypothyroidism is so bad that blood tests may be abnormal

Untreated hypothyroidism may have severe effects on the brain and may interfere with the heart’s ability to beat properly.

Call your doctor if you have the symptoms of hypothyroidism, especially if you constantly feel tired, notice that you are losing hair, and develop an abnormal sensitivity to cold. If your infant or child has symptoms of hypothyroidism, call your pediatrician immediately.

Seek immediate attention at a hospital’s emergency department if you have the following signs and symptoms associated with thyroid problems.

  • Shortness of breath
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Coma

Please Note: This test is a general indicator for possible thyroid problems. The higher your score the more likely you are to need medical attention.
