Subj: High blood pressure?
Date: 1/3/2009
I am 43 yrs. old, 4’11” and weighs 70 kls. I am aware that I am obese by this time. I want to take xenical but I am afraid of the side effects. May I know if xenical can’t cause high blood pressure?

AskDocWeb: We have seen nothing to indicate that Xenical might cause high blood pressure.

Subj: Gum issues
Date: 1/6/2009
Can you expand on the gum issues. I used xenical and found my gums to be more sensitive.

AskDocWeb: Gum problems may include an increased sensitivity, gum pain, bleeding gums, ulcers, canker sores, or infection.

Subj: Only lost 3oz.
Date: 1/9/2009
I have been taking xenical for 2 weeks and 2 days. I am on a low calorie diet so I’m not sure if that is why I am having no side effects, but like anyone I have cheated and still nothing. I went as far as to eat KFC and still after all that I still had nothing. I haven’t had any change in my bowels, it hasnt even gotten softer let alone oily and explosive like mostly everyone says. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong but has anyone else had the same problem. Also in the 2weeks I have only lost 3oz.

AskDocWeb: You may want to talk to your doctor about this because your dosage may need to be adjusted in order to get the desired results.

Subj: Legitimate diet pill?
Date: 1/11/2009
Hello, I’m interested in taking Xenical because I’m starting to gain too much weight, my BMI is 27,and I’m getting bad side effects with the weight gain. I’m scared to take Xenical because of the side effects! Is it a legitimate diet pill?

AskDocWeb: Yes, Xenical is a legitimate diet pill but it is also a prescription drug so you need to talk to your doctor to get it.

Subj: Gallbladder had to be removed
Date: 1/17/2009
I was using Xenical and also had good experience for about six months, then my gallbladder had to be removed. I am CONVINCED also that it is because of the Xenical. I feel this way because NOW I do not get those same results with Xenical that I did before. Also my gall bladder was fine before I started on the Xenical.

Subj: Rash
Date: 1/26/2009
I have developed a rash within the first week of taking xenical. I wonder if this is because we are in very hot temperatures?

AskDocWeb: Excess heat can result in a rash but a rash can also be a sign of an allergic reaction so check with your doctor to find out for sure.

Subj: BMI is 23
Date: 1/29/2009
I need to lose 5kgs though my BMI is 23. Can Xenical be of any help to me and approx how long do I need to take before I can see any result?

AskDocWeb: If your BMI is 23, that means your weight is in the desirable range and there is no need for weight loss. Typically your BMI has to be 30 or more before a doctor will prescribe Xenical.

Subj: Abnormal liver functions?
Date: 1/30/2009
I was taking Xenical before Christmas and stopped well before the new year came in. I have had blood tests and which told me I had abnormal liver functions. Is there any evidence (this) could be related?

AskDocWeb: It is beginning to look like this may be a rare side effect because several people have reported an increase in liver enzyme levels. We checked the manufacturer website but didn’t see any side effects listed that might be related to liver problems. Unlike other drugs that are metabolized in the liver, Xenical is metabolized mainly within the wall of the intestines.

Subj: No oily spots, still isn’t working
Date: 2/1/2009
Hello, I was hoping you can help me. I used this product and it worked in the beginning however after a few months. I have not gotten any oily spots even after a high in fat dinner. Could there be something wrong or possible it won’t work on me any longer, will it ever… I tried taking a break and going back and it still isn’t working?

AskDocWeb: The body does have a tendency to build up a tolerance to anorexic drugs like Xenical over time and when that happens, they stop working. If that has happened to you then you may want to talk with your doctor about an alternative.

Subj: Difficulty getting to sleep
Date: 2/1/2009
Have taken Xenical for four days now, slight headache, worst problem difficulty in getting to sleep, average 5-6 hours sleep per night, usually sleep for 8-9 hours will this taper off in the next week or so. Also have some fluid retention.

Subj: Is this normal?
Date: 2/3/2009
I started to use xenical 7 days ago but my scale tells me that I’m getting heavier. I went from 113 kg to 116kg in a week. I don’t eat more than before so I don’t get it. I noticed that my belly is bigger and this while I have bowel movements. I look like I’m pregnant now. I think that I’m going to stop using this product.

Is this normal?

AskDocWeb: We would take that as a sign that it is time to check back with your doctor to find out what to do different. There are a lot of possibilities. Your doctor may want you to change your diet, change your dosage, change your medication, change your activity level, some combination of these, or something else.

Subj: Severe muscle pain, anxiety, and depression
Date: 2/6/2009
I took Xenical for 1 week and experience muscle pain (severe) and back pain, anxiety, depression. Does this mean I should stop or my body does not accept this? Or when do the symptoms go away? I tried again this week, can not take the pain, my arm and legs and in extreme agony. I really wanted this to work.

AskDocWeb: Sorry to hear that Jill. Not everyone responds to Xenical the same way but that is no reason to give up. There are so many alternative, talk to your doctor about what might work best for you.

Subj: Cannot take satins
Date: 2/18/2009
Can I take xenical if I have a hiatus hernia. I am going to ask my nurse if I can go on it as I have had heart bypass 5 years ago and have high blood pressure and cannot take satins.

Subj: I have a few concerns
Date: 3/9/2009
I am a 27 year old female and 222lbs. My BMI is 41. I am contemplating going on Xenical but I have a few concerns. I do not have my galblatter and also am anemic. Becuase I do not have my galblatter I already get the bowel movement side affects when I eat certain foods. Will taking this medication make it worse? Also, because this medication takes some of the vitamins and minerals out of your body, along with a daily multi vitamin should I be taking additional iron suppliments as well?

AskDocWeb: Yes, Xenical is likely to make those loose bowel movements worse. Xenical also decreases the absorption of some fat-soluble vitamins and beta-carotene. To compensate, taking beta-carotene and a multivitamin with vitamins A, E, D, and K once a day, at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Xenical is recommended.

Subj: Polysistic ovaries
Date: 3/29/2009
Hi, I just wanted to know if I can take xenical because I have polysistic ovaries. Thank u. Weigth 161.12lbs. doctors says I must loose weight. Please tell me?

AskDocWeb: In order to calculate your BMI both your weight and height are needed. In general, Xenical is not prescribed unless your BMI is 30 or higher but only your doctor can say if it is safe for you or not.

Subj: Strange numbness
Date: 3/30/2009
Hi, I have had an underactive thyroid condition for about 3 years, I was always very slim but started gaining weight due to this. My doctor prescribed Xenical 120mg one 3 times a day that was on 18th March, I’m on 200mg of levothyroxine, I’ve been experiencing a strange numbness just above my knees and when I stand up it feels like there’s cool water trickling down the front of my thighs, is this normal?

AskDocWeb: No, it is not normal. Please report this to your doctor.

Subj: Swelling and burning sensation
Date: 4/1/2009
I am asking about xenical 120mg, I am experiencing problems with swelling in my hands and a burning sensation above my left knee area. There is slight swelling in my ankles also. I’ve never had fluid problems before and am not overly heavy, but I do have an underactive thyroid and I’m currently taking Levothyroxine 200mg and seroxat 20mg for depression. Should I stop taking xenical or will the effects subside as I’m only on them two weeks?

AskDocWeb: Depression, leg pain, and swollen feet are possible side effects of taking Xenical. Please consult with your health care provider about these symptoms.

Subj: Orange stools
Date: 4/5/2009
I am xenical for three days by stool way very orange in colour today is this normal? How long will it take to notice my weight loss?

AskDocWeb: Due to the presence of undigested fat, it’s natural for the bowel movement to change color. It may be clear to orange or brown. These bowel changes are a natural effect of blocking the fat from being absorbed and indicate that xenical is working. You should start noticing weight loss within days.

Subj: Lost twenty pounds
Date: 4/6/2009
I took xenical for 2 months and lost twenty pounds…I didn’t have no side effects I tried everything before I tried this diet and this is the only diet that has worked for me.

Subj: Infertility?
Date: 4/12/2009
Does xenical affect the reproductive systems, I mean does it cause infertility in males and females?

AskDocWeb: No, Xenical does not cause infertility in either males or females.

Subj: I have not lost a pound
Date: 4/22/2009
I have been using xenical for 3 weeks now and I have not lost a pound. I sometimes have diarreah but mostly I’m constipated. What should I do? Should I stop taking the pills. Will it make me gain more weight? Is this normal?

AskDocWeb: It sounds like it is time to check back with your doctor, especially since it is not working as intended. The diarrhea typically occurs when you eat too much fat but constipation is not listed as a side effect of Xenical.

Subj: Is there something I’m missing?
Date: 4/23/2009
Hi, I have been taking Xenical for about 2 weeks now and lost about 8 pounds. However, I do not see this difference in inches. Is there something I’m missing?

AskDocWeb: Probably, the 8 pounds likely came off from an area where you aren’t paying any attention.

Subj: Neck pain
Date: 4/24/2009
I have been taking Xenical for a couple of months and have been fine. However, just the last week the arthritis in my neck seems to have been hurting more a lot more. I had some steriod injections about three/four weeks ago which although did take a while to kick in seemed to help. I know one of the side effects is arthritis and I wondered whether the Xenical is aggrevating it? I look forward to your reply. Thanks.

AskDocWeb: If you look back over that list of possible side effects you will find muscle pain, back pain, and less commonly joint disorders so it is a possibility. Read more feedback about Xenical. Xenical report 14 15 16Page 17 18 19 20Last Page 27
