Subj: Tired, no ambition and depressed
Date: 11/21/2009
I’ve been taking 1/2 tablet of Zolpidem for the past several weeks, but, not every night. From reading comments from other people, I know now why I am feeling so tired, no ambition and depressed. I think its from taking Zolpidem. I am so relieved to know that I may feel better in a few days. No more of that stuff for me.

Subj: Drug test?
Date: 11/25/2009
Can Zoloft come up as pot on a drug test?
Jason
AskDocWeb: That is highly unlikely, although Zoloft has been reported to show up as a false positive for benzodiazepines (Reference 31)
Subj: A lot of dizziness
Date: 12/3/2009
I’ve been taking zoloft for about 3 days now. It put me into a zombie like state with alot of dizziness! Whenever I would get up I would feel like I was gonna pass out. I’m taking this for panic attacks. I couldn’t sleep at all cause I would be woken out of my sleep terrified!. I feel really sedated or drugged up. Is this normal?
Amanda
AskDocWeb: No, it is not normal. Dizziness is listed as one of the possible side effects that should be reported to your doctor.
Subj: Zoloft for anxiety?
Date: 12/9/2009
I have not been using zoloft 50mg long. My doctor put me on it for Anxiety and Panic attacks that I have been having for 6 years now. This is my first time taking any drug and I dont like the way it makes me feel I am not depressed at all. I just have Panic attacks is this the drug I should be taking are is there something else out there better for anxiety?
David
AskDocWeb: Zoloft is used to treat depression but it is also used to treat those with panic attacks, Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), and Social Anxiety Disorder.
Subj: Pre mature hair loss
Date: 12/11/2009
I took zoloft for an extended period, about 4 years. At first it subdued my depression, but after a while I noticed a decress in my libido, and my hair is really thin, baldness is not a problem in my family, so I have to question whether long term use of this drug has caused pre mature hair loss. If any one else has experienced anything like this I would really love to know…

Subj: Tremors are unbearable
Date: 12/26/2009
The tremors are unbearable for me. I’m very tired all the time. And I get nightsweats 5+ times a week. I’m planning to wean myself off of this drug; honestly, I think I was better off without it.

Subj: Zoloft results
Date: 1/2/2010
hi I have been taking zoloft for 8 months now for panic attacks.. I was up to 100mg a day and now I am taking 50 mg every 2 days because my doc says its time to quit it… the truth is that zoloft made my condition worst for the first 2months but then I can really say that it saved my life… I now feel ready to quit it and I hope it works for everyone as good as it did with me.

Subj: Zoloft or Meridia but not both
Date: 1/11/2010
I have been taking Meridia for about 6 weeks. I just got a call from my Dr. saying that since I am also taking Zoloft I should stop one or the other of these two medications. Can I stop Zoloft cold turkey?
Susan
AskDocWeb: The product information for Zoloft says that you may experience unpleasant side effects if you stop taking Zoloft suddenly. Please discuss this with the doctor that prescribed your Zoloft.
Subj: Breaking out in hives
Date: 1/14/2010
It worked wonderfully at controlling my anger along with abilify. The problem was for months I kept breaking out in hives everywhere and assumed it was all the latex in my school. I’m allergic to latex. But even after I stopped my exposure to latex, which the teachers made sure it never came near me, I still got more hives. I traced them back to the time I started taking the zoloft. It did work great but I must be allergic to it. I know with the tegretol I was and being Asian increased the skin problems I had with it. I don’t know if the same holds true for this one.

AskDocWeb: It is possible that it may be from the Zoloft so check with your doctor.
Subj: Hair loss from antidepressants
Date: 1/24/2010
Since I started on SSRIs I have noticed my hair becoming thinner and I have a receding hairline now. Nobody in my family has this except me. I read that some antidepressants can cause hair loss. I am currently only on 25mg and will be getting off this zoloft completely. Will my hair grow back like normal if the hair loss is from the anitdepressants?
John
AskDocWeb: In most cases, the hair loss caused by a drug is temporary and natural hair growth is restored when the drug is discontinued.
Subj: Irrational thoughts
Date: 1/26/2010
I was on Paxil for about a month. Until I started having homocidal suicidal thoughts. I realized I was loosing my mind around week three when voices in my head were telling me to go to the kitchen and stab out your eyes with a steak knive. I told my Doc. And he sugested Zoloft. I Think I’m gonna stick to jogging, and working out. Med’s are really good for some people but if you have any effects that cause you any irrational thoughts…STOP!

Subj: Lower back pain, gas, nightmares, and weight gain
Date: 2/1/2010
I’ve been on Zoloft for 2 months now at 50mg for PTSD. After a month my doc upped to to 75mg. The side effects I experienced, were lower back pain and gas. For a month I felt good on 50 mg, but still became teary eyed with sessions with my doc. Though it suspended some of the uncontrollable tears. When my doc upped it to 75mg, I got confused. I would see one digit and say something else. So I went back down to 50mg. My nightmares were vivid and reoccuring and break out in a sweat. I was getting upset so I went back up to 75mg and continued with lower back pain and joint aches in fingers and toes. Not sure if that is the meds or signs of RA. So I augmented my diet with Omega 3, glucosomine chondroitin, folic acid and b complex. I shifted my dosage from the morning to nights. I’m glad I hung in there with the 75 mg dosage as I’m starting to feel better. My lower back pain is there, but I’m having eating binges and gaining weight. Not happy about this at all. I’m jotting down what I eat, so I can tell my doctor what is going on with my weight gain.

Subj: Panic attacks
Date: 2/1/2010
I suffer from really bad anxiety, insomia, and panic attacks since September 2009. My doctor started me on Zoloft 25mg for 3 weeks, then increased the dose to 50 mg in November 2009. I had horrible side effects! Worst than the panic attacks itself! After about 4 weeks of taking Zoloft the side effects went away and I felt wonderful! I have been taking the Zoloft 50mg every night since but now I am starting to have side effects again. I’m experiencing weight loss, hair loss, nausea, weird dreams, irritability, headaches, nervousness, dry mouth, increased sweating, hives, and fatigue. I am scared to stop taking Zoloft in fear of having panic attacks again and all of the stories that I have heard about stopping antidepressants. I don’t know what to do! I have an appointment with my doctor next month. Anyone else had any of these side effects with Zoloft?

Subj: Unwanted weight
Date: 2/3/2010
I’ve been taking zoloft for almost 7 years – it worked awesomely for me….but I gained a lot of weight; have just decided to quit cold turkey. After reading all these online posts I’ve had no problems compared to others. I notice that I can get a little emotional about stuff – cry easily – but even that is subsiding. I loved zoloft – just wanted to come off and see if it would help me lose the unwanted weight I gained since beginning it.

Subj: Gained weight and zero interest in sex
Date: 2/3/2010
I have been on Zoloft for 6 months. The drug has been tremendously helpful for controlling my anxiety and horrible moods that were a result of battling constant anxieties. I have however, gained weight and have zero interest in sex. I do feel that zoloft has been helpful though, as I was in a very bad place before I started. I do think that it takes a week or so to adjust to the med, as I experienced the weird buzzy feeling others have mentioned until my dose was elevated, then it disappeared and I felt better and better. I do agree that folks should attempt to overcome depression in other ways as well, but getting on a med has helped me and my family (I’m much easier to live with and a calmer mom) tremendously. Dont be afraid to get better, and give it a chance to work.

Subj: Extremely fatigued
Date: 2/10/2010
I was prescribed 200mg of Zoloft from my doctor after I told her I was extremely fatigued. She said that this might help eliminate fatigue. Is this something anyone else has heard of or anyone experience increased energy at higher mg of Zoloft?

Subj: Zoloft side effects
Date: 2/11/2010
I am 48 and have been taking Zoloft for about six years. I find (unless you are suicidal) that a lot of people don’t give Zoloft a chance. When they start getting side effects they stop taking the medication. These side effects are (usually) over within two months. I have found Zoloft to be all it has meant to be. I had side effects for a couple of months, but unless you put up with the initial problems you cannot see the benefits Zoloft brings to your life. I suffered depression and anxiety attacks. I couldn’t work anymore or cope with anything. Now my life is good and I get through my days relaxed and happy. I have put on a little bit of weight, but that could have happened because of my lifestyle. I would say, go the long haul. Don’t stop because of headaches etc, but keep going. Zoloft really can change your life for the better.

Subj: Euphoric dreams
Date: 2/12/2010
I have found Zoloft to be very effective with my anxiety and depression. I am currently on 100mg, and the only side effects are Insomnia & Lack of sexual desire… I read that people get nightmares from it. But I get the most tripped out ‘euphoric’ dreams from it. So surreal… But yes. Everyone is different, and Zoloft may only work with some people. Peace out.
